Jurassic Park 5/10 pretty average Spielberg flick imo. The kids are annoying as fuck, and drag the film down. The CGI looks better than some stuff I've seen from last year, which is absolutely crazy considering it's 20 years old.
Listen, buddy. If we ever met in person, your revolting carcuss would be in a ditch by the next hour
MacGruber-7.5/10 i find it hard to rate comedies because everyone has a different sense of humor. honestly there's just no objective rating for these types of movies
There is no objective rating for any kind of movie. Although I thought MacGruber was surprisingly hilarious and solid, I kinda expected trash but it was a really funny film. Impressed me. Festen (1996) 5/5 A fantastic movie about a family dinner, wherein some very dark secrets are revealed. The first Dogme film puts the movement off to an incredibly strong start. I've not seen any other Dogme films as of yet I look forward to exploring it more. The movement, because of the lack of sets, lighting and "superficial action" (eg. murder and weapons- I assume it means copouts that force story along, rather than characters progressing the story? I'm not sure and it's up to debate as to what is a copout or not but there are guidelines, not rules) forces the films to be purely about deep and interesting characters. I feel like this film wouldn't have been as good were it the exact same script made without these restrictions. While watching you can actually tell that the camera (a simple camcorder) was constricted by being in a real mansion, and so had to deal with walls, furniture etc getting in the way- but this forced it to move more intimately, getting involved with the characters and find different ways of framing shots. The film is thrilling and visceral and the camera helps that. Since it's handheld it's always shaking, always moving, it's very kinetic. There are a huge amount of close-ups and even then the camera is moving about and with all the fast cuts, it creates a really claustrophobic and honestly quite a scary atmosphere. Vinterberg conveys the emotions of the characters via the camera absolutely perfectly. Since it's so much about the characters, it's very dialogue heavy- and I must say the dialogue is fantastic. It's very interesting and fascinating to watch as it does feel like you're looking at real people (which is really helped by the cast, all of whom deliver really great and real performances). Christian was a really powerful and moving character and I thought that, although I don't know first hand, how he and his sister, as well as the rest of the family, reacted to what he said in a very real way- people don't want to accept the darkness in people they know, they didn't come to a birthday dinner for that, they came to enjoy themselves- and that's what they decide to do despite what happens. It's almost surreal but at the same time I feel like it's exactly what people would do. Just pretend it isn't real. This is a really excellent drama and I highly recommend this to anyone interesting in things a bit darker. Really, really great film. [editline]2nd July 2013[/editline] AK'z if you've not seen it I'd definitely recommend, you'll love it.
been meaning to watch Festen (or the celebration) since i saw Jagten i love me some good drama
Almost all the exciting parts were already shown in the trailers, so most of the movie was a bore. The only interesting part in the movie was the climax when [sp]they were trying to be sneaky to get the cure.[/sp] Besides that, it was "pew pew, got a zombie! *trailer scene* pew pew, got a zombie! *trailer scene*"
That's the reason why you don't watch trailers, they often just suck and spoil to much or give a completely false vibe. When I think about the trailer of Drive, it looked like some Fast to Furious rip off.
Battleship - oh my god/10 Oh my god.

just saw Jagten (The Hunt) ... can't do it.. just can't do it. Why can't i be one of the normal guys who watch Fast and Furious 6 or that new STATHAM movie.. instead I see a film which contributes to the disintegration of my faith in humanity. Yes it's just a film, but really once you see Trust, then this, there really isn't much to do. It's so strong, and so very real that I no longer am able to feel surprise for how simple it is to crumble lives. "One minute you're having a Denver ommlette, the next thing you know someone's sticking a gun in your face" Mads is such a raw actor, definitely another level of acting that I've seen in him. But the situation was all the more horrible. At first I regretfully put the blame on [sp]the little girl[/sp] I realised it's very much a film where everything and everyone contributed to that destruction. And as the film progresses I expected some ounce of relief. Was none. I actually have an ache in my heart.. That's not common. To some up: 1/10 you ruin my life
Hachi - 8/10 Very cute and sad film. The ending especially. Richard Gere does a sort of good performance, but the film overall is good.
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist Holy fuck was this movie dumb. Gotta admit though, I did laugh a few times.
I'd probably still love that movie nowadays because of the nostalgia factor
The added stuff (e.g. the cow) doesn't really hold up but the dubs are still stupidly hilarious.
"I just realized that my girlfriend was a sadistic bitch." "HAHAHOHEHAHAH!" I remember my parents watched a little bit of that film with me and my brother and they almost flipped their shit for some reason.
well it wasn't complete doodoo i'm sure it's better than white house down, at any rate.

Scary Movie 5. 8/10 It's so bad it's good. Was in tears when the cave hit the cave
side effects 6/10 it was ok. felt like it was going for a hitchcock-esque suspenseful thriller type thing but it kinda fell short on account of the twists and turns being largely obvious and lazy at times it relied on misdirection and the assumption that the viewer had no idea what was going on so that when something happened they'd be like whaaaaaaaat but there were so many and they were sprinkled in with seemingly no rhyme or reason so it just felt like there were a bunch of twists for the sake of twists catherine zeta-jones was hot tho
This is the End - 8/10
Battleship - oh my god/10 Oh my god.
worse than transformers imo

It's not sunshine and lollipops but it's probably a little more than average on the feel-o-meter. Then again I'm the guy who's with Kafka in that art should be like an ice-pick to our frozen hearts, so maybe I'm just desensitized. Do people still say "feels"?
I wish they did... it's the only meme reply which makes sense...
Gladiator (Directors's Cut): 8/10 I am entertained
