watching the British version of Rocky 4, aka Andy Murray vs Janowicz @Wimbledon
Off to see World War Z I can't wait to see absolutely no gore whatsoever.
It's always strange when you binge watch a show that has children and spans over several years and you can see how they grow so quickly. Best examples I can think of atm are Dexter and Game of Thrones with Astor and Cody/Bran
I've watched Monster's University. I guess it was okay. Had a few laughs, but I didn't felt that magic. Better than Cars, Cars 2 and Brave, though.
So in an hour my family is going to the movies. There's nothing I'm dying to see that starts/ends around the same time as what my family members are seeing. These are the only 4 movies that would work: Now you see me Monster's University White House down Star Trek Into Darkness Should I see any of these or just stay home? Leaning towards WHD or Star Trek. I haven't seen the first Star Trek remake though, is it important? And from the brief description I read of White House Down, it sounds like Die Hard in the White House. Obviously the plot is going to be terrible, but is it good in terms of being an action flick?
I'd recommend Star Trek or Monsters University, the others are pretty terrible imho
Lone Ranger. Wasn't expecting much more than a low end Pirates of the Caribbean formula, and that's pretty much what I got. It was fun to watch and had some pretty good action, and I laughed a few times, but the characters, plot, and general premise was weak. [sp] Helena Bonham Carter's character felt pointlessly shoehorned into the film simply because she was Helena Bonham Carter. Her important role could have been pulled off by someone else entirely and did not need her at all. Johnny Depp plays Captain Jack Sparrow dressed up as a Native American, and then as a gross piece of beef jerky. The Lone Ranger is awkward, lame, and kind of a dickhead. He leaves Tonto to die in the sand after almost being killed by scorpions. He's the hero, right? The female love interest is weak and is literally a damsel in distress. The pirates movies had a strong female costar that is able to hold her own. The Lone Ranger has a woman who is constantly in need of saving. Oh yeah, and she has her 7 or 8 year old son hold a man at gunpoint. I guess forcing your child to be a murderer makes you a character I want to root for. A lot of guilt tripping about what we did to the Native Americans; They basically recreate THAT scene from The Last Samurai. The overall plot just seemed way too dull and cliche. The big railroad guy is in cahoots with the outlaw and they find silver so they plan to rule the railroad and be rich. There really isn't a whole lot at stake. Oh yeah, and lets not forget about Plot Convenience Horse. [/sp] I can't say I didn't enjoy the movie though. It was fun, dumb action, and had a good soundtrack to drive it along. 4/10
Is it necessary to see the first Star Trek, or does it not matter?
You won't enjoy the second Star Trek unless you're already a fan of Star Trek...
World War Z [sp]Well I'll give the movie this, I did not expect it to end with a stealth mission in Cardiff.[/sp] Overall, I liked it. Yeah it had some flaws [sp](that guy shooting himself in the head was extremely dumb)[/sp] but I thought it handled the whole epidemic thing very well. It reminded me a lot of Contagion just not as well executed. As for the zombies; I liked them also. It was nice to see a movie do something different with how zombies act, they were a genuine threat rather than just a nuisance. +points for most action scenes being well handled; a decent story; mostly decent characters; long, yet justified, runtime -points for a few throwaway characters; some boring action scenes (airplane refuel); some boring scenes in general; lack of gore (seriously, this movie is rated 15 in the UK. That's the same as Final Destination 5) 7.5/10 [editline]5th July 2013[/editline] Might be worth noting I didn't read the book.
We all know Batman XXX: A Porn Parody is the best
Have you guys seen the Spiderman one? They did a spoof on the scene were Jane kisses him upside down... :v:
(seriously, this movie is rated 15 in the UK. That's the same as Final Destination 5)
A goreless movie is put in the same category as this? Rushmore - 9/10 Classic Wes Anderson.
You won't enjoy the second Star Trek unless you're already a fan of Star Trek...
Well I decided to go see it last night. Having never seen any Star Trek movie or show. I read one article that was something along the lines of "What you need to know before seeing ST: Into Darkness." That was all the information I had going into the movie. I really enjoyed the film. I liked the main cast a lot. I had no difficulty following the plot whatsoever. I thought the movie was pretty solid overall. Of course this is coming from someone whose never seen the original films or series. I honestly don't know what the general opinion of the film is among Star Trek fans. What I do know is I want to try and watch some of the classic Star Trek, just hoping I don't have a lot of trouble adjusting.

I am going to watch the first remake next. Then I need to find a way to ease myself into the original series.
World War Z 6-7/10 It was alright i guess.. pretty dumb at some parts though, especially the zombies in large numbers
Manhunter - 80s/100 This is the movie to watch if you wish to understand what went on in the 80s, a very comprehensive guide to the 80s and also something about murder 8.5/10 It deserves more attention, it's a good movie
The Lone Ranger 8.5/10 Everybody seems to hate it, but I actually liked it.
I watched the review of Miles Antwiler, it sounds really horrible according to what he was telling.
I watched the review of Miles Antwiler, it sounds really horrible according to what he was telling.
Critics really love over-analyzing movies like this. You watch movies like this without thinking or caring about deep shit. I enjoyed the movie, therefore I liked it. I like movies based on how much I enjoy them.
Pan's Labyrinth 9/10 why haven't I seen this yet? Really interesting "genre mix" and I loved almost every aspect. the fascist general is up there with Hans Landa in the top 5 film asshole nazi list.
That guy is really a major asshole, the winebottle scence is just so gruesome. It's a really neat movie.

It's definitely one of my favorites.
Just watched 50/50 because I wanted to watch a movie that wasn't solely a comedy. Seth Rogen and Joesph Gordon Levitt are adorable together. 7 cancers/10
But Miles Antwiler isn't a critic though. He's a cop
But he has an opinion, I like opinions.
Yeah of course. He was just a guy giving his opinion on a movie like us here. Just saying that he isn't an official movie critic or anything.
I seldom read reviews from professionals or anything. I prefer personal opinions like the ones posted here or like Spoony, he's a smart guy and is pretty good at talking about movies. Even though he can be quite picky about stuff.
The only professional reviews I read are Empire.
