5.6/10
Some parts were enjoyable but I had a really big problem with [sp]that part when the main robot punches through an office building and it stops just when it hits one of those ball clacker office toys, and it sets it off and we see it clack a couple of times, and I guess it's supposed to be funny but it's just kinda awkward and it ruins the moment[/sp]
If they fixed that the film could have easily gotten an extra 2.3 points.
I like how that bit ruined the film for you but [sp]not the fact that about 10 seconds later the jaeger is literally thrown straight through that same building destorying it completely, which I felt was more the joke than the little newtons cradle bit, because it made the previous shot completely redundant in every way[/sp]
if you're actually gonna go into discussion with pie, pls be prepared to go far out. :-)

Have you seen My Winnipeg? It's really good.

[sp]what if they had an extra shot of the thing after the building was collapsed to show that it's okay.
And every ten minutes there's a shot of the newton's cradle surviving the destruction in extremely contrived ways.
And it'll just be dragged out until in the end when Charlie Kelly will pick it up and make a stupid joke or something.[/sp]
no i haven't pie, but you're the boss.

The director is Guy Maddin and he makes movies that are like old silent films on crack
the general opinion seems like it's the complete opposite of that
It has issues with transitioning from dark creepy scenes to lighthearted funny scenes, but that's really all that's bad with the movie
i'm guessing he's one of these extraordinary modern directors i've never heard of..
Man of Steel 7/10
Was fun to watch but I felt a lack of connection with the characters. Could use a better story as well. [sp]When Superman snapped Zod's neck holy shit that was the greatest neck snap of all time right there.[/sp]
This Is The End - 8/10
This film has a scene in which [sp]a coked-up Michael Cera gets punched in the face by Rihanna[/sp]. Needless to say, it was hilarious from start to finish.
GI Joe II - 7/10
It wasn't as bad as people say it is. I thought the movie was great and really superior to that shit Rise of Cobra. I'm glad they got rid of the Baroness, she was one of the worst characters in the first film and i am very glad they didn't bring her back. [sp]I felt killing off alot of the new characters in the beginning was unneeded, I hate how Channing Tatum got top billing when he only had 5 minutes of screen time [/sp]. Jon Chu's choreography should also be acknowledge, Snake Eye's scenes were perhaps the best in the movie. Ray Stevenson's role in the film wasn't good and just kicked into the story, Zartan basically barely appears in the film (disguising as the President).
I hate how Arnold Vasloo gets top billing too when he doesnt even speak and appears for 2 seconds when he is killed. Bruce Willis didn't get enough screen time either. Like 18 minutes worth, the billing is just wrong. But the film was good then again silly. The CGI wasn't bad either despite it being a little cartoony. The ending was too silly, like really too silly, its like when James Bond disables the bomb on 0:07, a really overused cliche in action movies. I also hate how Storm Shadow [sp] is a good guy near the second part of the film [/sp] But to end this review i'll say, Ray Park was the real badass. He made most of the movie work.
Black Book
Fucking loved it, very engaging story. First time in a film [sp]I was hoping the Nazi wouldn't die.[/sp]

Say what? You don't love Asylum, the creators of such films as Giant Octupus vs Mega Shark and its sequel, Mega Shark Versus Crocosaurus?
Where is their funding coming from
End of Watch
This movie made me cry / 10
In the House, a French film about a high school boy who befriends one of his classmates in order to get inside his house and be sort of part of his "perfect family" and almost hook up with his mom. The entire story is told through essays the student writes to his writing teacher, who deals with the moral conundrum of encouraging the brilliant writer or stopping him from doing what he's doing.
9.5/10, see it if you can.
Pacific Rim: 8.5/10
Really enjoyed it. I thought they did a lot of really cool and new (for the genre that is giant monster movies) things. I think this is the very first giant monster film/tv show/anime/whatever the fuck that didn't involve sending billions of jets, tanks, and so forth to die in between fight scenes. It seemed very intelligent in that regard.
The monster designs were cool, but I felt that there weren't many "saurian" body types, which were easily the coolest. There was a lot of "fat thing with weird head", and a few awesome insect/crustacean looking things, but only one that stood out to me (the one with the gripper-tail).
Pacific Rim - 8/10
The absolute closest thing you're going to get to an Evangelion live-action movie (without a lot of the angsty parental issues). It's got action, monsters, big robots, and some humor thrown in there as well. Go watch it.

There are a LOT of people out there who enjoy watching bad movies for the sake of watching bad movies.

that combined with the facts that they're cheap as hell and are released every month or so means that Asylum pics are bound to make some bit of money. blame Academy Award winning director/producer Roger Corman for inventing this low-budget-short-production technique for producing shit like Flyin' Ryan.
Actually Roger Corman produced films that were directed by Martin Scorsese and Francis Coppola and other great directors who all owe it to Corman for helping out in their movie careers. That's why he won that Honourary Oscar. Maybe there are future auteurs behind the works of Megaoctoshark or Titanic II or whatever the fuck they have.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - 9/10
I don't know why Steven Spielberg or some critics disliked this film, its personally my favorite in the franchise. It may be really dark (a perfect film to show to kids for Halloween instead of horror films) and its ups and downs but I truly love this film more than the 3rd film.

I'm not going to lie
I did enjoy watching Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus
evil dead
didnt enjoy it too much. didnt like the actors. the art and stuff around the movie was so promising but the actual meat of the movie felt bad. the ending was good

every one of their films has made profit
Their newest film, Sharknado, legitimately looks awesome as fuck though

How To Train Your Dragon
I saw the teaser for the second one and everyone saying how good the first one was, and for all ages, so I went and watched it.
I thought it was really good. Great animation and the characters are good. And Toothless is cute as fuck. I look forward to the sequel.
Edit: 9/10
Also the TV show isn't bad.
saw Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India
fantastic... on a hot sunday afternoon, it was a real treat.
3 hours and 40 minutes were digested with such ease. I rarely watch Cricket and this is one of the really good sporting films.
Most moan about running times but you need to understand that film doesn't have to be something to endure, it can feel like your life once you're comfortable and feel right. It's also one where most of the film is literally music. That's bollywood for you :-)
With a nice sound system, I was washed away into this good one. Bollywood is literally the only successful modern film indistry which still has an intermission in its films :v:
What's also pretty cool is that they're incredibly successful in favour of them being 3+ hour films.
Exhilirating music with joyous culture and dance. Can't recommend it enough.
Sure it's not Lawrence of Arabia and it's darn cheesy at times but dangit it's got a pulse. Furthermore it's a sporting film with challenging properties too. I'll have to catch it again in HD some time.
Just watched Skyfall with the family. As a Bond movie maybe 5/10, as a generic techno-thriller action flick an easy 8/10. Kind of reminded everyone a bit of Law Abiding Citizen.
What did Facepunch think of this movie? Personally I thought it was a stinker and felt in no way like a good Bond film, yet I see it getting all sorts of awards and a remarkably high IMDB rating... Maybe I'm just a bitter nostalgiac.
That's funny, I thought it felt more like a Bond film than most of the Bond films to come out in the past 20 years.
I kept thinking the whole way through "This feels like Christopher Nolan directed it", and strangely enough after checking online he was Sam Mendes' inspiration. I kept thinking the whole way through that the cinematography, score build and setpiece action was so similar feeling to the new Batman trilogy too. What a strange movie.
I'm curious, in your opinion, what about this movie made it feel more like a traditional Bond movie than other recent entries? Or do you mean the portrayal of the character in relation to Fleming's original depiction?
