The action, the characters, the story, and the style it oozed.
Reminded me of the Dalton and Connery bonds.
Though, it really portrays the novel Bond better than any of the ones I've mentioned.

You have the lowest threshold for the word strange here pal.

Ian Fleming said the real person who portrayed James Bond right was George Lazenby. Although he was criticized for his role (he his my favorite Bond), Fleming was convinced he portrayed him more closely to his novel than Connery.
I kept thinking the whole way through "This feels like Christopher Nolan directed it", and strangely enough after checking online he was Sam Mendes' inspiration. I kept thinking the whole way through that the cinematography, score build and setpiece action was so similar feeling to the new Batman trilogy too. What a strange movie.
To be honest Nolan's Batman trilogy felt really Bond-ish, specially The Dark Knight.

So Bond is supposed to be a really bad actor then?

Amusing that he goes and picks the guy who only played Bond once, I've never seen His Majesty's Secret Service.
Might have to, I suppose.

tbh, most action films owe a lot to the bond franchise.
I always hate to admit to people I just can't get into the Bond movies, like I recognize most of them are really well put together and etc. but I really can't sit down and watch them without getting bored.

What the fuck was that, I don't even know
2.5/10

I wish I was joking
I really do
I thought that was one of those shitty parodies by the morons that made 'Meet the Spartans' and other trash like that at first, but jesus is that actually a 'serious' movie?
Anyway, recently I saw 'The Mechanic' (remake) and Wreck it Ralph.
The Mechanic was pretty damn fun and I liked it but from a critical standpoint I can see where it falls flat. I liked how it managed to condense so many assassination contracts into one movie though - most have that cliche where either the first, second or third fucks up royally. Though to be honest the plot just abuses another cliche that's usually in films that do that anyway.
I'd give it an 8/10.
I couldn't resist Wreck it Ralph and I loved the characters in it, though Felix was a bit too over the top with his squeaky voice and lackluster depth. That said, the plot is a bit typical of a Disney/Pixar film, which I subconsciously noticed throughout the film. There are all those styles of scenes you'll recognize like [sp] 'Ugh, I'm mad at you! Fuck your perfectly reasonable logic!'[/sp] scene.
Just as a piece of entertainment, I'd give it a 9/10.
spiderman (sam raimi's)
pretty awesome. i think the only reason they had the balls to do an over-the-top superhero movie like this is because it was one of the first ones, and now everything is all oh-so-realistic, even for heroes that would work much better without that level of realism. anyway, although i dont completely hate the new one, this movie is just so much better. there's actual emotion in it, you actually feel sad when uncle ben dies and it just deals with the whole thing really well.
the story and acting are simple and good enough, nothing too special but everything fits well in the movie and just feels right.
8/10
spiderman 2
this one feels a lot more like the recent marvel movies. sadly, for me, it also felt a lot less original. doesnt make it a bad movie of course, but i just felt like a lot of stuff was really predictable. it adds a lot more depth to the characters (which would have been great for sm3 but we know how that turned out), and all of the different 'chapters' off the movie make it seem like it's a lot longer than it actually is, though that pays off in the end. [sp](I did wish that the final fight scene was a little longer, it was a little underwhelming)[/sp]
as for similarities with the comics, other than doc ock being a lot weaker, it's actually alright in that aspect
7/10, i just enjoyed the first movie more.
From Dusk till Dawn
Such an entertaining movie and somewhat refreshing. I loved how the movie is a usual movie about criminals and then suddently just vampires kick in. Furthermore the fact that they awknowledge them to be vampires after the first encounter is actually really neat instead of the usual "what are those things?" type of discussion.
Also George Clooney is badass as fuck in this movie, a funny thing is that Quentin Tarrantino himself was nominated for the worst support character in 1997 during the Razzie awards.
I recommend this movie, especially if you like Rodriguez movies.
That's odd, Ian Fleming died in 1964, George Lazenby was cast 4 years later.
Nonetheless, OHMSS was one of the best adaptions of Fleming's novels, next to From Russia With Love.
Deep Impact, 8/10
I'm a dooms day/sci-fi thriller lover, this movie was good, minus a couple downfalls on it's actual "spaceflight" realism. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Not gonna lie, I welled up some tears during it. Not hard though, I do that everytime I watch the lion king also.
Freddie Got Fingered again
Oh my/10
Revolver (Guy Ritchie)
8.5/10
Whole film is fucking outstanding. After i learned [sp]the whole film was a chess match all along, and Jake got rid of his ego, outmatching his opponent, and winning the match.[/sp] the film got into my first on my top 10.
apparently that film is really hated by people, then I see a few people thinking it's the greatest film he did.
what on earth are you both waffling on about,
spiderman 1 was just above average and 2 was magnificent. There was a lot of mediocre writing in the first and it was bloated with a load of waffle it didn't need. The second got down to brass tax and shot forward all the way through. I haven't seen it in years but if they do release a 4K remaster then I'm on that son of a gun.
spider-man 1 was more emotional with the father/son relationship
spider-man 2 was more balls to the wall with doc ock.
spider-man 3 was hilarious because of emo parker and topher grace trying to be venom.
was more emotional with the father/son relationship
People assume this is the entire film. It isn't.
They only spend about 10-20 minutes on screen with each other, that's a very small portion to what happens to Tobey Maguire for the rest of the 2 hours.

I love American Psycho with all of my heart, it never gets old.
Shawshank is overrated but still really good

yeah, but the point is that it really affects him. thats one of the reasons why everyone complained about the amazing spider man, because in that movie he's all sad and stuff, for only like 5 mins, then he pretty much forgets about it.
it's still a much more emotional movie, and it's probably the reason I liked it, honestly.
Pacific Rim
Great action, OK story, amusing subplot
4/5 giant robots

I seem to be in the minority here but I still think Spider-Man 2 was the best movie that adapted the web head to date. While it isn't that comic book accurate, it paid great respect to the spirit and core of Spider-Man while still being accurate to Lee and Ditko's vision. Which is more important to me than Spider-Man having mechanical web shooters or his 'first' girlfriend being Gwen Stacy.
But weirdly enough, I swear Raimi knew he was dicking around with the girlfriends. MJ was exactly like Gwen Stacy and his Gwen Stacy was more like early MJ. He even had that bridge scene with Green Goblin and MJ in the first movie.

Come to think of it, there seems to be a reasonable amount of similarities between Spider-Man 2 and Superman 2.

Christian Bale's performance in American Psycho is so good it makes me wish there was a movie that was more faithful to the book.

just to clarify,
it's a better experience because he has a sad face for a longer time on screen. :-)
