Despicable Me 2
Was going to see Monsters but they canned it for some reason. I was offered RED 2 special screening but the guy giving the tickets away seemed really sketchy.
7/10 I thought it was funny.
^speaking of nuclear

meh, could have been better and longer, the characters died too fast imo.
i give it points for being original, though, and a suitable ending.
best film of the year tbh and not cos its full of tits (srs)

also I meant the temptation was to argue that it's a fucking great movie and not a piece of shit but I've done that several times in this thread so ill not bother lol.

If nothing else the film is a spectacle of beautiful cinematography though. That cannot be denied.
sorry but springbreakers was like a 14 year old's attempt at arthouse cinema
American Psycho
Spoilery: Why the fuck haven't I seen this sooner. Fucking incredible. Christian Bale is such a fucking good actor. I've seen a lot of his other films and he's nailed his roles time and time again. It was actually kind of interesting, seeing his performance in American Psycho I really think he could've done a decent job at being the Joker in Batman had he not been playing Batman. I loved how unsuspecting people were when he was about to kill them because he initiates a long monologue about his taste in music. Also I loved his snarky little remarks about his true self and people always misunderstand him, like the murders and executions bit. It sort of reminded me of Dexter but Bateman is a lot less methodical and careful in his kills, in fact hes more of a wild dog and Dexter is more of a cunning wolf. For example he wouldn't let his prey run away from an apartment and have to resort to dropping a chainsaw like 8 stories
I have to go return some videotapes.

Its a very good film however the ending sort of left me thinking at the end, did he actually kill all the people or did he just imagine all of it, guess its up to the viewer to decide

yeah they kind of leave it open-ended with the film, but (don't quote me on this i haven't read the book) to my understanding it's straight-up yes he killed all those people in the book.
I always thought he did and the people he worked with were too stupid/stuck up to realise that.
I like how Bale put it - Bateman is a fascinating character. You wouldn't really want to be him, work with him, or be friends with him, but you'd really want to sit near him at a restaurant and eavesdrop.
Also this movie got me into Huey Lewis and the News
the room
an honest 7/10, that movie was funnier and better than some serious attempts at movies; the inconsistencies and completely extraneous scenes make it even better. seeing with friends and verbally making note of ridiculousness in the film as it happens is more enjoyable than other movies i've seen are in general
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
If he's your favourite director, you'll have to get over what i said. But all his films I see in the same way as I do if I saw Layer Cake or Crank.

have you seen The Bling Ring?
Broken Arrow 1.3/10 legitimately the worst movie I've seen in the past year or two
i caught it on amc after work so i figured it couldn't be that bad but holy shit it was so fucking funny i couldn't stop watching it
gave it an extra .3 for john travolta
i managed to watch it straight faced up until this scene and just started crying for about two minutes

I really sucks that when John Woo started making movies in hollywood, he seems to pretty much lost everything that made his early movies great. Face Off was kinda okay, but still not nearly as awesome as something like Hardboiled.
That's My Boy
Stopped watching half way through. Adam Sandler's character was fucking terrible and he was fucking terrible at portraying him. Add to that the fact it's completely unfunny and you get a steaming pile of shit.
woeful/10
Man of Steel.
3.5/5
The effects were great, some of the story points were great. But damn, it had some weird pacing. Suddenly [sp]aliens, then suddenly Superman is standing in front of a bunch of army men. Oh look it's a flashback. Wait, now the aliens are attacking Earth.
The action scenes were good, but Superman seemed to just get his ass kicked the entire time. And they dragged on for so damn long.
The entire side story with that woman stuck in the rubble should have been cut out.[/sp]
In the end it sort of lacked from origin story syndrome. The sequel should be fantastic.
Now You See Me
8.5/10
Really great film to be honest. The casting was brilliant even if Jesse Eisenberg played another awkward character, it was strange seeing him play a different style of role.
There are some big names in this film, and it was a lot of fun to watch.
The only bad things that I can pick out in the film were some out of synch audio points. It was obvious to see that they had used the same audio from an original clip, but used a different video clip to match it with another subject's reaction.

really? those were the only points you thought were "bad"?
i mean no offense, if you enjoyed it you enjoyed it but its just very hard for me to grasp the fact that people actually enjoyed watching it because i thought it was the worst movie ive seen so far this year
Paranormal Activity 4
It was basically exactly the same movie as the third one but with kinect, skype and an even more disappointing ending. It carries on the tradition of each one being worse than the last.

Well, opinions I suppose. v:v:v
I dunno I enjoyed it, I liked the concept as a whole.
Just re-watched TDKR.
7/10 - Mainly for the super great cinematography (I like how the blu-ray switches between 21:9 and 16:9 for the visually impressive shots so more screen is used) and acting, but the story is pretty lacking and there's a lot of unbelievable stuff that just gets lampshaded or ignored.
Would be 6/10 if it wasn't for that opening scene with the plane that always gets my heart racing. It's so outlandish, unexpected and over the top but looks like it could actually work.
Honestly I thought the switches between 21:9 and 16:9 was annoying. When you make a movie you shouldn't be switching through aspect ratios. Be consistent is what I say
Was it ever explained where Bane ever got all those people who were ready to die for his cause?
TDKR? Explaining things?
Hah
wayne's world - it was alright. only a few jokes got me and during most of the movie i was just not
sure what my opinion was. i guess it is related to the fact that it resembles a different generation or something like that

Has he starred in a good movie since Happy Gilmore, or even a serious movie?
He's not a dramatic actor... but check him out in Punch Drunk Love for the most moving performance of his career- he's actually very good in it.
And while he's not really done anything great since Happy gilmore, Anger Management is good although Jack Nicholson stole the show... 50 First Dates is pretty good and more a decent rom-com than standard Adam Sandler.
also idk the general consensus on it but imo Dont Mess With The Zohan is one of his funniest films.
Also Reign On Me is a serious film although I've not seen it- it's apparently quite good.
[editline]17th July 2013[/editline]
I wouldn't say I'm a big Adam Sandler fan but hes ok. That's My Boy was pretty funny despite being totally tasteless.

As mikeyt493 said, check out Punch Drunk Love. It's great.
[editline]17th July 2013[/editline]
Reign on Me is good too but not as good as Punch Drunk Love IMO
No surprise, Punch Drunk Love is a PT Anderson film and he is imo the finest director in Hollywood right now
DKR was a disappointing factor to a finale, I mean look at Bane's death, I've seen better anticlimactism in Iron Man 3 than DKR. If Nolan was trying to make a joke out of that scene well...

If the Joker can get people to follow him, I think Bane can do the same.

The Joker had all that money.
Bane has nothing but people still died for him, like the guy in the plane who stays behind as it's dropped. Why does that person (or everyone he recruits) care so much about blowing up Gotham?
I'm pretty sure the schizo from TDK didn't give a fuck about Joker's money
