I want a good new horror movie so bad, haven't seen a decent new one in ages. It's never anything beyond "people get spooked with lots of blood and they all die in the end", and that usually makes for very shitty movies imo.
Paranormal Activity ruined horror movies forever.
There are movies beyond the ones in adverts guys.
kung pow. try watching that shit again without tearing your eyes out
watched it yesterday, still mostly hilarious probably the stupidest movie I've ever seen, though
the conjuring predictable/10
Really? It has surprisingly good ratings - 83% on RT and 8.2 on IMDb.
Predictable films doesn't have to mean they're necessarily bad... e.g. films like Karate Kid
oh, also i watched now you see me one of the dumbest fuckin movies i've ever seen everything feels super impersonal, the cast do a terrible job (even people who are usually good), most of them are annoying as all hell, and the plot is a gigantatic convoluted mess. you don't know whether you're meant to root for the magicians, or the cop. but you end up rooting for neither, because on one hand the magicians are pretentious, smarmy dickbags. and on the other, the cop is a cocky disheveled know it all asshole. you're left with nobody to care about or even to want to succeed. it ends up being a grueling experience of 'who do i hate the least' at any given moment. 'magic' loses all of it's wonder when it's done with editing and cgi. so throughout the whole movie the magic element is as boring as can be, and you can't suspend disbelief for a magic show when you know it isn't even really being performed at all. it's not even illusion, it's sub illusion, it's straight up special effects for a trick that would be completely impossible and illogical in real life. it loses all meaning and emotion of experiencing a magic trick. and the twist. don't even get me fuckin started on the 'twist'. i nominate this and the purge as contenders for this years stupidest fucking movies. the only thing i liked was that shoshanna was in it. she's pretty and i haven't seen her in anything else since basterds. good for her. shame it was in this piece of goddamn retarded schlock.
people actually think the twist was smart and the people who hate on it are "too dumb" and the hilarious 7.5 score on imdb haha HA.
people actually think the twist was smart and the people who hate on it are "too dumb" and the hilarious 7.5 score on imdb haha HA.
dude, indiana jones 4 was once in the top 250...
Man of Steel The story of Superman, a guy who has amazing powers because our sun has a more funky color than the one in his planet. He has an omnipresent amateur cameraman that follows him at all times who can't stop shaking the camera or zooming in at really odd times. Superman is set on saving the earth once [sp]his buddies from Krypton show up[/sp], and although he only saves like 30% of the people while the other 70% are killed, nobody really cares, and everyone's happy in the end.
Just watched slumdog millionaire. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. I remember avoiding seeing this when it came out, I can't remember why but I'm almost sure it was a dumb reason. Ended up watching it today, and I was surprised by it. I thought it was just going to be some gimmicky predictable movie, but it did a lot of neat stuff in my opinion. The story was as straight and predictable as I thought it would be, albeit the ending was not hard to see coming once you got to a certain point well before the end. Either way, a very well made movie.
just like what happened with kung pow. try watching that shit again without tearing your eyes out
that was purposely garbage from the beginning and was meant to be incredibly stupid. your argument isn't working here.
Odd Thomas was odd. The ending was predictable 10 minutes before it happened.
Seven Pounds - 8/10 Damn you Will Smith.
We need a list of good movies because I'm starting to run out of movies to watch. I still need to watch Moon but I'm sure there are a ton others I need to see as well.
on a first view, i'd give it an 8/10 cuz of asians, swords and blood.
watched it yesterday, still mostly hilarious probably the stupidest movie I've ever seen, though
Watched it drunk with my best friend at 3 am can confirm Kung Pow still amazing
42: Harrison ford is old as shit/10 I liked it.
wow damn i cant believe there are human adults that actually enjoy kung pow thats depressing
saw Survive Style 5+ yep.. my life is now redeemed. One film where everything is right with the world.. :'-( and Vinnie Jones couldn't have been cast in a more genius film than this.
wow damn i cant believe there are human adults that actually enjoy kung pow thats depressing
I totally agree, kung pow is one of the worst pieces of crap I've ever seen my friends said it was awesome, that's why I watched it. of course now I know not to watch anything they recommend. I sort of liked the final fight, and the one in the prison (they are bad, but a couple of moments were ok) but other than that it's shit. and, oh god, believe it or not the italian dubbed version manages to make it even worse because they basically gave each character a different dialect. So to allow you to understand: imagine each character having a different and completely exaggerated dialect. For example one of them speaking like a total redneck, another speaking scottish, etc. its' godawful and even more unwatchable than the original.
Safety Not Guaranteed 76/100
cloud badlas [editline]23rd July 2013[/editline] ps only god forgives is good
Man of Steel - 5/10... All style and no substance is the name of the game here. Never before have I been misled by trailers so badly before. I went in expecting a more intelligent and down to Earth take on Superman and what I got wasn't anywhere near that. The negatives: -The editing is terrible and all over the place, making it a chore to watch -the characters are all bland and the relationships completely unbelievable, -the amount of wanton destruction that occurs while Superman doesn't give a single fuck is ridiculous, -the musical score is completely boring... I think Hans Zimmer is officially a one trick pony and I'll no longer get excited whenever he gets attached to films. The positives: -The action was pretty damn good, some of the best in a Superman film. -The effects were really great. -The Krypton scenes were some of the best I've seen realized in live action. -The acting was pretty decent all around, especially Supes and Zod. Overall, a huge disappointment for me and I do not want these guys to work on Batman vs Superman.
World War Z - 5.5/10 Pretty average movie IMO. Kept me interested though. Only God Forgives - 9/10 Wasn't Drive 2, but was still awesome.
Surf's Up - 7.5/10 out of the Rusty100 Normalized - before the exclamation marks go off (although they probably aren't too pointed already), I caught it while it was making the cable-channel circuit. Here's a good working definition of intelligent: the movie's been put together with an extremely critical eye - truisms guide the overall path, but inbetween a thousand bits and pieces join and re-group to illustrate, to jostle, to chuckle, and indulge in a bit of occasional cynicism. It speaks of devotion from script-writing to last-minute shader tweaking. (It's validly interpreted as desperation, but they certainly aren't failing, if that's their self-serving play.) It's no great aesthetic monolith, of course, but this path's no less valid if you're willing to see filmmaking as an epicurean endeavor - it certainly doesn't give you the opportunity to think of the movie as anything less than a meaningful journey that should happen to some meaningful (and I mean that in an absolute context) individuals.
Pacific Rim - OhMyGodIJustBlewMyLoad/10 But for those jerks who like actual numbers, let's go with 10/10.
The Truman Show - 8.5/10 Pretty much Jim Carrey's best role [editline]22nd July 2013[/editline] Seen before but gf hadn't. I don't know how she avoided that. I've seen it so many times. We watched it in school in English for some reason. It was completely unrelated.
dude we watched Total Recall (orig) in Geography class when I was about 14, made no sense why but it's good to see teachers not giving a toss about certifications. those were good times :v:
Gyakuten Saiban (Ace Attorney): 5/10 Oh, I'm disappointed in this movie. The character designs for the most part are pretty much spot-on (including hairdos, kudos for that) and while considerably darker than the game, it looks pretty awesome but there's so many changes and so many things they completely left out and the whole thing has a rather disjointed feeling at times. On its own, it's not all that bad, it's still entertaining but even then it still lacks something.
