The Watch It wasn't very funny but it's decent story, occasional laughs and surprisingly good visual effects kept me watching.
White House Down 8/10 A great light-hearted action movie with comedy elements added to it. It has a lot of funny and ridiculous stuff in it, and watching it is just pure fun and laughs, like most of terrorists are batshit-insane conspiracy theorists/zealots/etc, lot's of hammy acting, etc. It's VERY unserious action flick that makes fun of it throughout the entire movie. Notable actors are Jamie Foxx, who plays president and James Woods. It's advisable to watch with your friends, or teenage offspring.
What are some good, modern animated films I need to see? I haven't seen many Disney or DreamWorks films in forever. The only modern ones I've seen have been Toy Story 3 and Wreck it Ralph.

Not sure what you mean by modern but if you haven't seen the "big" computer animated ones you should watch: How To Train Your Dragon - I fucking loved this one as some people in this thread may have gathered, also has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard (though I don't normally pay much attention to films music). Ratatouille Wall-E Up - Prepare for feels at the start
Muthafuckin Rango. That film kicks ass. Also Tangled-- one of my favourite disney films. It tops most of the classics imo.
wow damn i cant believe there are human adults that actually enjoy kung pow thats depressing
I implore you to reconsider. [editline]22nd July 2013[/editline] rewatch Mystery Team. Dong Lover still gots it.
Battleship This is a B movie with a $200mil budget. It has terrible writing, terrible acting, hit & miss visual effects (no pun intended) and an overly long runtime. All that said, I did like the alien's design. I give it one whole terrible out of terrible.
Also Tangled-- one of my favourite disney films. It tops most of the classics imo.
I thought Tangled was really boring and forgettable and I have no idea how it got all the praise it did.
Aliens? I thought it was a movie about Battleship Wtf did they do
No it's a movie about a guy trying to ask for his girlfriend's dad's permission to marry her. And also there are aliens that fire giant battleship pegs.
Rewatched fight club 10/10 One of my favorite movies.
Lone Ranger Saw it for free through work, went in expecting shit, came out pleasantly surprised. Depp stole the show but it was pretty good, a lot better than it's given credit at least. 7/10
Muthafuckin Rango. That film kicks ass. Also Tangled-- one of my favourite disney films. It tops most of the classics imo.
This, Rango is the absolute shit and is without a doubt one of the best 3d animated films out there.
Ignoring the fact that it's animated and all the cast is animals, it's a fucking great western film too. So solid and so good.
district 9 i liked it a lot. shame they had to drop the incredibly realistic feel of the first half in order to advance in the story, but it was still a great movie. 8/10
Shoot em Up :smile::smile::smile:/:smile::smile::smile::smile::smile:
R.I.P.D Boring as fuck/10
no country for old men 9/10 fucking shit that was a good movie javier bardem was amazing, i was at the edge of my seat for like, the entirety of the movie
The Kite Runner. 9/10 Damn, I cried.
no country for old men 9/10 fucking shit that was a good movie javier bardem was amazing, i was at the edge of my seat for like, the entirety of the movie
i always find it funny how two of my favourite films were filming at the exact same time in near enough the exact same place (the other is There Will Be Blood)
Eastwood Tuesday Couldn't get any sleep so I spent most of the night watching any movie with Clint Eastwood in it that I had. Gran Torino: 4.5 Eastwoods/5 Eastwoods For a Few Dollars More: 4.25 Eastwoods/5 Eastwoods (I don't know why, I just enjoyed Fistful of Dollars and TGTBTU a lot more, still a great movie) Dirty Harry: 4.5 Eastwoods/5 Eastwoods Also, for anyone that has seen Pacific Rim, could I get a short review of it? My friend said he wasn't expecting much when he went to see it, but was honestly surprised.
Evil Dead 2013. Probably 5/10... I just don't get the appeal. Now, granted, I grew up on the original Evil Dead movies and AoD is easily one of my all time favourites, but setting aside my nostalgia goggles this new movie was pretty uninteresting. It seemed to spend the entire time desperately trying to rip off as many aspects as possible from the original Evil Dead movies, and managing to do a very poor job of it. For the most part the camera work was very 'standard' for the kind of movie, but they randomly throw in brief moments of interest where they copy some of the stylistic angles and audio effects from the original Evil Dead. Only problem is it kinda gets thrown in amongst a bunch of really shitty camerawork and just feels out of place and unnecessary. Then there are countless unneeded lines of dialogue that push the cheese factor beyond acceptable limits ("Don't do it you little bitch don't cut it off!" - we get it, we really do, there was no need for that line and it spoils the moment for anyone who's new to the scene) and some overall rather bad acting by a relative bunch of nobodies. I'm not saying that the original Evil Dead did it 'better', it was just a different time and with this movie I think they've done something of an injustice. Put it this way : If you're going to rip something off, either rip it off whole hog and do it right, or don't bother and try to do something new and unique. This movie did neither, it was very bland, full of way too many attempted jump scares and far too many failed references to the original trilogy that just left me feeling pretty let down. Nice gore though!
Only God Forgives 85/100 Gorgeous. The sound design, photography and acting was really good. I absolutely loved the colors in this movie and how it contrasted with different rooms/areas, in particular this: http://i.imgur.com/vSMqw2X.jpg
Hey guys, Today I watched "Jack the Giant Slayer". It may sound childish, but its not, its a REALLY good film, about a modernized version of "Jack and the Beanstalk". It had a really good story, and a really good build up to when the giants tried to take over the Human Kingdom, I highly recommend you all to watch it, as it is a good watch, so, get out your popcorn, and go watch that film! Link to trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ6aeaGQKUE
Wrath of the titan - 2/5 Evil dead 2112 or 13 - 2/5
The Deer Hunter: 8/10 The Russian roulette scene is one of the most intense and well acted scenes I've seen in any film. I don't think this short clip does it justice. Advise anyone to watch the full film.
"One shot" The Deer Hunter is a great movie and I advise anyone to watch it even though a lot of people will be turned off by its running time. [editline]23rd July 2013[/editline] Also, you get to see Christopher Walken not be the Walken as we all know of today.
The Double 7/10 regular movie, acceptable plot. I Love You, Man. 8.5/10 really nice comedy movie, with Andy Samberg (from SNL) and Jason Segel (from How I met your mother). Let me In 9/10 very nice thriller movie. I know this a murica remake but I really enjoy this movie.
Let Me In is one of the best remakes I've seen tbh
