[img]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2e/Oblivion2013Poster.jpg[/img] a bit predictable (but not bad), damn good cgi + special effects and neat costumes, kind of reminds me of destiny. 7/10
Sixth Sense Oh my tits, just saw this for the fist time. I was a bit too young to see it when I came out considering I was about, oh 5 or 6 I think? Either way, glad I haven't seen it since then, it was a fantastic movie. I always thought it would just be another horror movie or something, but it turned out to be sooo fucking good in all honestly. [sp]And holy shit, that twist. Call me blind but I didn't see it coming.[/sp] 9/10
Only God Forgives. I can't recommend this to everyone, but for me it was a 9/10 experience.
Superman III: 4/10 Only reason why I even watch this is because of the scenes with Clark Kent and Lana Lang and the dick Superman parts. Superman IV The Quest for Peace: ifeelsorryforeveryoneinvolved/10
Alien 3 Assembly Cut 8/10 Definitely better than the original cut.
The cabin in the woods. 10/10 I thought it was just a normal boring horror movie with drunk horny teens in a cabin... But I was so wrong and I really enjoyed this movie, and I think its awesome.
[QUOTE=The_J_Hat;41588901]Alien 3 Assembly Cut 8/10 Definitely better than the original cut.[/QUOTE] It might be better, but it's still a dreadful movie. It's definitly not worth an 8.
[QUOTE=The_J_Hat;41588901]Alien 3 Assembly Cut 8/10 Definitely better than the original cut.[/QUOTE] I forgot, which cut had the alien coming out of a dog?

[QUOTE=JohnnyMo1;41591232]I avoided seeing it for so long because it was advertised as a straight up horror movie but I'm kind of glad because I didn't expect it to be as awesome as it was.[/QUOTE] I completely missed the advertising somehow and walked into the movie knowing nothing except its title. Which made it all the more fun.
After watching Despicable Me 2 in theaters I decided to watch the first one because I've never seen it. 8/10 I love it.
Only God Forgives, 9/10 I was shocked when I looked up the ratings and etc, it scored so low across the board, then again that just shows you that 90% of critics aren't worth listening to. It was a very interesting movie, and I was glad it used the gore it did in an acceptable and stylish way, it would have been easy for a movie like this to just overuse it and completely kill the feel of them movie, it was a bit over the top but still felt serious about what it portrayed. Not much dialogue, but it was executed very well I think, deserving of a high score. I especially liked how the main police officers and gosling's character were almost interchangeable as main characters, it made it kind of hard to understand who you were supposed to be rooting for, but it was a very cool take on a movie. Secondhand Lions, 8.8/10 Kinda huge change from Only God Forgives, but we had it sitting around and I was sick, so fuck it, I decided to watch it. I'm so glad I did, a neat little movie. I liked the idea of it, and it presented itself in a sort of childish way, but stayed mature enough for it to be pretty captivating to me, at least. The scenes reminiscing about the old men's history felt like it was right out a story book, like exactly what I imagined in my head hearing stories about when I was young, which was very cool to me! And then end was pretty neat as well, really great movie to me.
ted - it had some good jokes, but it was so weird how at some point it became this weird drama film. i honestly cannot take a movie with a talking teddy bear seriously
Oblivion - 2/5 The movie was so full of plot holes that it all just felt silly. Really liked the special effects in it. Only God Forgives - 2/5 The artsy feel of the scenes were badly executed. I got bored watching it and wanted it to end. The ending was however one of the better parts of the movie.
Decided to rewatch all the Harry Potters since I have only seen them all like once, several years apart. Just watched the first one. Harry Potter 1 - 8/10 Good fun, definitely a lot lighter compared to the later ones but starts the whole series nicely. I don't remember it being quite so child abusey (at the beginning) :V
Oblivion 8/10 Lovely soundtrack, great effects and an interesting story. Some parts could've been executed better. But it's been a long time since a new good sci-fi has been released, so it was well received on my behalf. Also, I've got to be frank, this movie had elements from several other sci-fi stories. Such as (might be spoilers) [sp] Randevouz with rama and Moon.[/sp]
The Wolverine- 4/5 Caught it today, release day. It's really good. Gonna say straight up that not only is it the best X-men movie, it's the best marvel movie. Superman 2 might tie but I'm not sure. It also rivals the Dark Knight imo. Better than the other 2 Nolan films. Easy the best superhero film of the year too (although Iron Man 3 sucked and although I praised it after I saw it Man Of Steel was pretty shitty as well) This is the Wolverine film I wanted. I waited 10 years for this film. I was so scared wouldn't live up to expectations, and (by grounding my expectations to realistic standards a bit) it totally did. The most polished and best written Superhero film of the past 5 years, this film is great. It's a bit of a slow-burner (not a bad thing), it's personal, it's engaging, it's not gratuitous. It's pretty much the antithesis to the superhero blockbuster (or as close to it as a superhero blockbuster could get :v:) The plot isn't overly convoluted and clogged up with lots of subplots like the original trilogy. This film focuses totally on Wolverine and it does it very well. I was expecting more than the previous films since it's helmed by James Mangold who is a very good director, and it definitely makes a difference. Hugh Jackman's acting is spot on, the visuals are stunning (the cinematography is one of my favourite things about this film. Stylistically it's very similar to samurai films, which Mangold cited as one of his biggest influences for the film. Its emphasis on facial close-ups, panning and tracking shots and such feel very Kurosawa influenced). Its pacing was good for superhero standards. It wasn't afraid to slow things down and actually develop characters, which was nice- but it wasn't afraid to crank it up when it needed to, and when it did it never went too far. There's some really great scenes in this film [sp]I actually could not believe it when Wolverine got his claws cut off! I was so impressed. They took away his healing then they took away his claws. Awesome.[/sp] If you enjoy the X-men films and enjoy Samurai films I highly recommend this as it's really influenced by Samurai cinema of the 60's and, as I said, it's one of the best superhero films I've seen. [editline]25th July 2013[/editline] Man I just added a bunch of stuff in that but FP's being really shitty with letting me do anything. After some captcha code it loaded a blank page and it's gone. Oh well. Basically said the writing and direction is impressive and it's better than most superhero films, as Wolverine is helmed by two very competent artists- James Mangold directing and Chris McQuarrie writing (who won an oscar for writing the Usual Suspects) and how most superhero movies really feel the fact that studios always hire mediocre writers and directors. The best superhero films aside The Wolverine are The Dark Knight and Spider-man 2. Goyer is a good but not great writer although this is definitely his best work, and the dude who wrote Spider-man 2 has 2 screenplay oscars under his belt. And they were directed by Nolan and Sam Raimi who are both solid directors.
Haven't finished Oblivion yet but I have to say the technology and Gooeys are really well done as far as how believable they are. It's like futuristic but not over the top and I dig it
Oblivion was cool but it felt so fucking cold and clinical. It looked lovely but Tom Cruise was Tom Cruise and things just happened. No depth or emotion in anything at all. I liked the direction it took though. [editline]26th July 2013[/editline] I did enjoy the film though
In the past week: Juno 8,5/10 Inception 9/10 Ellen Page is cute and DiCaprio's performance is stellar. Can't believe i only watched this movie now. Spring Breakers - 8/10 "Look at my shiiiiit" American Pie: Reunion - 7,5/10
I guess Oblivion wouldn't be a movie with tom cruise in it if he didn't surf at least one explosion [editline]26th July 2013[/editline] and then get up with the most serious injury being a little soot on his face [editline]26th July 2013[/editline] Still a cool movie, the ending was a little eh [sp]I knew they were going to bring him back in lame fashion but having it be a clone is really weird, just let him be dead pls[/sp] and a lot of little surprises were pretty cliche and predictable. as soon as that random pistol shot in the desert went off I knew where it ended up, that was pretty much the best example of cliche junk. Also it kind of ruined the tension for me when the drones at the end [sp]didn't fire a single bullet, two of them had jack in sight when he was about to blow shit up for like a solid minute. And Jamie Lannister and the dyke with him were literally just standing there as 10 or so were coming at them. What was their plan had shit not blown up? They didn't know it was going to happen at the moment so it just seems dumb for them to be standing still, not even aiming at all these killbots bearing down at them, and again, the bots coulda totally wasted them from where they were.[/sp] [sp]Also they were DNA scanning from fuckin SPACE the whole movie, you'd think they would confirm it is actually the chick in escape pod, not even intentionally you'd think they would just be scanning all sorts of shit. And like a second later he gets caught lying about something else.. so like what? Why are these robots so fucking picky with their detective routines[/sp] other than that and some other nitpicky crap, it was enjoyable!
oblivion was ok good points: pretty good setting and premise, INCREDIBLE design and special effects (as in you forgot they were special effects they were so good), andrea riseborough is an amazing actress with a ton of good scenes, morgan freeman is always great too and the kingslayer's in it, plus it's pretty well directed bad points: LOTS of cliche stuff, VERY predictable (i predicted the twist from the trailer and have seen a certain sci fi movie with more or less the exact same twist), almost no character development and outside of com truise's character no arcs at all. basically the plot is incredibly derivative. also it suffers the problem with most com truise movies where I don't really get invested in his character because at no point am I convinced that he's not com truise. also the ending was really cheap overall: if this had been written by someone with any flair at all then this could've been great, as it stands the amazing design, sfx and acting saves it from being bad but it averages out at an 'ok'. if you fixed the writing and had more andrea riseborough + morgan freeman it'd be a 9 but instead it's like a 6/10
[b] The King's Speech - 6/10 [/b] Shoot me. [editline]july 26th 2013[/editline] I was being sarcastic.
Clerks 2, one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, also [sp]the donkey fucking scene[/sp] :v:

[editline]26th July 2013[/editline] also while morgan freeman and the kingslayer both own it's hard to see them as something other than those two specific titles as well because they're so freeman'y and kingslayer'y
the wolverine: pretty dang cool. enjoyed a lot it's a solid action movie. and it's not insultingly stupid like origins. everything makes sense (within the universe), the action is really cool, everything has a purpose, it's a little predictable but that's forgivable, and it's just all around a good experience. wolverine is above and beyond the coolest xmen and one of the coolest comic book characters, and the movie does a great job at reminding you why. it's not defamation like origins was. basically i am recommending it. it's a lot of fun.
Wolverine is cool and all but I always wished that the X-Men movies should have done a better job with Cyclops.
wolverine movies make the xmen movies redundant. he's the best xmen, the xmen films were basically about him anyway, so basically they should not make anymore xmen films and just make wolverine movies. although there is a little midway credit scene that alludes to otherwise...
ok now im officially pumped to see wolverine eeeee
