The Wolverine - 7.5/10
a good solid comicbooky marvel movie.
some scene where it felt a bit too wacky or unrealistic i just imagined how it would look if it were in a comic and then it made sense so it made sense in the movie
also that after credits scene, fug yea
The jokes are good, they just don't execute them properly.

I think you can guess what made me want to re-watch this movie. Five years on it still holds strong; yeah a few of the effects are a little dated but it excels in making something like a giant monster attack feel real and personal. A lot of people shit on it for being vomit inducing but I really don't see that at all. Apart from a few obvious "aim the camera at the floor nobody will notice" cuts and "let me just get a good shot of this bridge collapsing before I run away" moments I thought the cinematography was handled well. It also does the Jaws thing of hyping up the creature by not showing it until late on.
The movie also has pretty interesting lore if you care enough to look into it.
Overall I'd give it 8/10
I agree with this. I was lucky to catch it again a couple of weeks back and it avoids the corny patriotic blubber of other high budget US sci-fi and gives a realistic feeling of complete helplessness. Its a Blair Witch style sci-fi and fans of sci-fi should really give this a go.
Pacific Rim 6.5/10
Awesome action, needless drama story, and [sp]hilarious amounts of helicopters to pick up two people floating in the ocean at the end[/sp].
Just what I expected.
(Only wish I could've seen it in 2D, since my left eye started stinging like fuck towards the end of the film for some reason)
I saw it in Dolby 3D, which I didn't even know existed, and it was great. Much brighter than RealD.
Warm Bodies
It suffers from romantic movie cliches and predictability, but it's interesting to see a different and well executed take on the zombie genre. 7.5/10
Dirty Harry
7.5/10
That soundtrack

Also I wonder why harry never had bullets to reload?

im sorry but i honestly think you might have the worst taste in films ever
Eh, there are few actors i don't like (as actors, not as people) There's a lot actually; but i think these ones are the most overrated
Will smith.
bruce Willis
dwayne the rock johnson
tom cruise
Adam sandler- I Loved him in click... but for every other movie...
I don't know. I just hate half of the guys who just smile as if to say "hey, i'm in this movie, aren't i great?"
While I disagree with Bruce Willis, I can agree with the rest. Adam Sandler can piss right off, I hate his fuckign face.
After hearing about it for a while, then seeing a small review of it from another user, I finally sat down and watched Indie Game: The Movie.
Touching, honestly. Even after all of the recent controversy surrounding Phil Fish and his cancellation of FEZ 2, I could still associate with him and understand his (albeit now past) troubles. Same with Team Meat and their initial reactions to Super Meat Boy, it gave a new perspective as the average consumer would be jumping up and down for a game on the basis of the opinions of critics and meta scores etcetera, yet they were still holding their beliefs desperately trying not to be disappointed by what was the deciding factor, sales, and were eventually rewarded in the end. The entire film was heartfelt, and it's obvious point it brought across, inspiring. It had a great score and some beautiful cinematography here and there.
I would personally give it an 8 out of 10. Solid, and gets its message across without pandering.
Lucky Number Slevin
6/10
The "twist" was pretty predictable. I didn't like the witty dialogue and the plot.

Or another fucked up movie that may or may not suck ass depending on your own point of view... Neighbour;

Has that awesome scene where the chick shoves a glass rod down the guys piss hole and snaps it down inside. Fuck that. But man what a trippy, retarded movie. Drilling knees, cutting throats etc etc... Kooky shit. No idea what to rate it, probably 3 or 4 out of 10 just because of how bloody pointless it is. Or if you just want to see some of the kind of gore that's in this movie, check out the movie censorship page for it;

Why do people like that shit
Just watched apocalypse now for the first time ever. Wooooooooooooow. That was an experience to say the least. It didn't feel like a movie from 1979 to me, lots of cool camera shots and stuff that makes it seem more modern. I'm not even sure I'd want to say I "enjoyed" it, then again I can't say that about most war movies, but it was definitely a VERY good movie. The scene where the sacrifice the water buffalo? Damn. Just a very good example of a well put together movie, 9.5/10 at the least.
2012
10/10 I don't even care if it's corny the destruction scenes make up for everything. I could watch it hundreds of times looking at the details in the background.
As a kid I fucking loved Happy Gilmore, watched it again and it still holds up. Early Sandler is great, he lost it after Big Daddy, though I do have a soft spot for 50 First Dates. But yeah; Happy Gilmore.

I thought Sandler was finally moving out of that comedy genre with movies like Punch Drunk Love and Reign Over Me but instead we got movies like 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry' and 'Just Go With It'. I would also say that his movies started to take a drastic dip in quality (relative to his 'best' films of course) with The Waterboy but that's just my opinion.

Very strange career he has. I agree with you on Waterboy. Quality skips around for him it seems. Spanglish was a GREAT movie too. I dunno.
logan's run 8/10
extremely good movie despite how dated some of it was.
there's also a few part of the story where it can get flimsy but it's a really good cinematic experience.
Just go with it has the most annoying character ever created in film. This little shit of a kid who blackmails Adam Sandler into taking him to Hawaii, and then cries a lot. I couldn't make it through the movie because I wanted to tear his limbs off.
Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation
It's literally the worst movie I've ever seen, the first film was so epic and funny and had amazing SFX but this film has none of that. Most of the film is almost pitch black and you literally can't tell what the fuck is happening.
-1/10
Side effects
Steven Soderbergh looked like being the darling of quality mainstream cinema after the fantastic Traffic but then went on to do the appalling Oceans films and the TV movie-esque Che films. Its never fair to write anyone off so I decided to try out Side Effects. It reminded me much of the 90's thrillers with those twists and turns to keep you thinking but climaxing in a rushed ending where the cat gets the cream, good prevails and everybody goes home feeling safe.
Performances are by numbers from Jude Law and Rooney Mara but the Zeta-Jones appearance was so bad it hurt my head. Sure the twisty bits were ok but overall it was a polished thriller a million miles away from some of his early work.
This killed a couple of hours I could have spent watching something better.
I Saw the Devil
however was a real blast. I wondered if he was trying to claim the Oldboy director's 'king of sick' throne., Its a massive improvement on his last mess of a film because it builds nicely and drops into a world, non of us here will ever drop into. How far will a person go to get even? What is the best way to get even? Kill them? Well this goes right into that and sort of borrows Chan wook Parks peek at vengance and its motivations.
It was good to see Min-sik Choi back at his best, doing what he does so well. Recommended for anyone wanting inspiration to make something sick, just what I'm looking for atm.....
I watched The Dark Knight 2 days ago and X-men 2 yesterday to see how they stood up.
The Dark Knight disappointed me and none of it was really great at all. Heath Ledger was good obviously but we all know that.
X-men 2 impressed me a lot since I watched X-men 1 about a month ago and while I still liked it it wasn't much more than a good movie. I was a little let down that it didn't stand the test of time. X-men 2 however is actually really good and one of the best superhero films made imo.
I know people love to jerk over Nolan but X-men 2 was quite a lot better than The Dark Knight. X-men 2 really impressed me by how well it stood up. The Dark Knight was nothing more than a pretty good movie.
Dirty Pretty Things
Small indie film based in London with the cat faced Audrey Tatou and a bunch of others you might recognise, telling a story of Londons underbelly, illegal immigrant society. Everything is for sale and the strong exploit the desperate. Sadly some stereotyping takes place and what I took personal exception to was the immigration police being depicted as some Stazi style human hunters rather than law enforcers simply protecting the borders.
Overall it was entertaining enough and a well spent couple of hours. Had a similar feel to Eastern Promises.

Take Shelter
Interesting story of a man on the edge. Michael Shannon has a brooding presence on screen without really doing much and thats the problem with the film, very little happens. That in itself doesn't have to be a problem but the mental spiral he goes into did't really hit hard enough to keep me interested. The film was ok but nothing outstanding. Michael Shannon might become a classic actor, assuming he doesn't chase the $$$$$ too much.

Are you kidding me? Is TDK too mainstream or something for you? It sure was a helluva a lot better than X-men 2.
I dont give a shit about if a film is mainstream or not lol. wtf. I just didn't find The Dark Knight that engaging, its cinematography was weak and messy (too many spinning shots of conversations, really fucking bad lighting throughout the whole film- couldn't see half the screen cos it's just black. Sure it's stylistic but it's too much. Also even in high-key lighting it's often hard to see faces wtf), script is not that impressive (The Joker's plan doesn't really work/make sense, painfully blatant exposition, and also the way Fox spells out that big phone machine Batman makes is an insult to my intelligence, people criticized Rises for not really having Batman that much but man he might have more screen-time here but there's nothing to him), Christian Bale was actually pretty bad which I never noticed before, the best parts of the film were the stuff with Harvey Dent imo. He also had the best character arc by miles. Bruce Wayne's arc is barely there but there are elements that try to force development I guess. The Joker obviously isn't meant to change and that works.
Idk there's not a massive amount WRONG with the film it's just not that great. Its not shit. It's just average. I know that it's kinda become the thing to masturbate over Nolan's omniscient power but I think I'm allowed an opinion without being called an implied elitist lol. "too mainstream". As if X-men aren't big hollywood hits.
I'd write more on both films but im off to see Only God Forgives so yea
Also Michael Shannon owns in Take Shelter and Revolutionary Road-- Mud is great but hes barely in it. Hope he gets more attention soon. He was decent in Man of Steel I guess but miles from his best.
Snatch - 7.5/10
What a ride... The main complaint I've seen is that it's similar to lock stock & 2 smoking barrels but I haven't seen that so that doesn't apply to me personally. Thinking of seeing it after watching this.
