The World's End It wasn't as good as the other two. That being said it was still very enjoyable; it had a good story, a decent amount of laughs and surprisingly good action sequences. Ending was a bit weird though.
the end was fuckin amazing. The whole bit from [sp]going into the Worlds End cellar[/sp] onwards was fucking brilliant. The film wasn't as funny as the other two but it was the best character Simon Pegg has ever played. He's a deep and interesting character really going through a lot in the film. Sure the first two have a character arc (Shaun learning to be less selfish and also to get a better grip on reality, Nicholas learning to open up to others, put relationships before his work.. But Gary had so much depth to him and such a background, hints at his feelings, what he did, etc that all just created a really strong and interesting character.) Simon Pegg and Nick Frost kinda switch it up in terms of character traits as well which was very welcome.

And yeah the entire scene where they talk to "the lamp" was hilarious but that's the only part of the movie that actually made me properly laugh. [editline]7th August 2013[/editline] The Cornetto joke too was just perfection.
I took the advice and watched Robocop III. I should of never taken the advice seriously
Odd Thomas ??/?? i thought Now You See Me was bad, but this movie right here steals the show i havent laughed this hard at a movie before in YEARS, and neither has the audience for sure. i dont even know what to say about this movie because i dont want to ruin the fun for other people. at some point it was as if we were all watching some freakshow of a movie written by some little kid who doesnt yet know anything about human depth and behaviour especially the last 1/3th is what caused global mayhem of laughter across the audience, people were fucking dieing of laughing and i could say the same despite all that i thought Anton Yelchin was the perfect cast for this role and he's a pretty good actor if you plan on watching it, I strongly suggest watching it in the theatres
saw a couple, Yi Yi, A One and a Two: One of the rare modern masterpieces, very true in spirit and reality. A real gem for me, not just for Asian cinema but in all walks of life it only further proves the personal significance of film I have is such a worthy attachment. It is a vast film too, clocking under 3 hours you'd need a good bit of time to lose yourself to this film. Edward Yang's last film which is such a damn shame, why do these guys reach their artistic peak then get taken away. I really do want to look through hus catalogue but some of his best aren't even on dvd.. but only available as laser-disc :/ This was a blu-ray I watched so hopefully they all get restored. Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) only silent film I've watched, that is actually silent. well there have been countless scores done but I thought to ignore them in favour of "original is best". And the film really does speak. Shot after shot, you just get a waft of agony and integrity, not only in the camera shots but in the actors. The main character was so dedicated you can really feel it, it's not something I see very often in people, where a person just soars with their heart. The story is very dim, but it's just the photography of it that blew my mind. How is a film like this still managing to do this a century after release... Just staggering. And it was almost a lost film too, thankfully found and restored beautifully by both Criterion and Masters of Cinema. These two films really will stick with me for a long while. damn...
Passion of Joan of Arc is best Joan of Arc movie. Much better than the one that had Milla Jovovich in it.
is it worth watching with a score accompanying it?
is it worth watching with a score accompanying it?
While the movie is definitely great without any sound, I'd say it's worth watching with a score as well, considering that should be how people watched them back them with a live score. I'd recommend Einhorn's score.
I just couldn't be arsed to choose since the director didn't. The film did speak for itself though so I really wasn't bored at all..
Yeah, the score is entirely optional and in no way detracts from the film. It just a neat addition you can check out. Although most directors back then couldn't be arsed in picking their own score for their film as it was usually up to the exhibitor instead.
Lars and the Real Girl What a bizarre movie. During the first half of it I thought there was no way it was gonna work, that it couldn't pull off something so strange, but it did. Ryan Gosling was great in the main role, that combined with a strong supporting cast made a ridiculous subject feel real and sincere. It did get a little too far fetched near the end but all in all it's a surprisingly sweet movie.
Maniac 8.5/10, really good, would watch again. Mr. Nobody 9/10, holy balls this movie is like "Inception" on steroids! I mean WOW.
Scary Movie 5 1,5/5 A few funny moments but dull and terrible.
GoldenEye - 8/10 The movie was very good but honestly dragged on during the middle-third act. Pros include that woman that has orgasms when she kills someone and Sean Bean who [sp]dies[/sp] in every movie
Still wondering how the fuck Sean Bean [sp] survived that headshot and nuclear explosion at the beginning of the movie. They didn't explain it very well. [/sp] Still my favorite Bond movie, though.
[sp]He didn't get shot in the head, he was shot in the face to make it seem he was shot in the head.[/sp] Thus the perfect cover up for his master scheme
Ferris Bueller's Day Off 8/10 I loved it. Ferris is now my idol.
sean bean owns, he was too much of a puss to take a helicopter to some LoTR scenes so the rest of the cast would see him climbing the side of a mountain in his boromir outfit in the morning as they flew overhead.
Before Midnight I cannot believe, but even when I'm trying to find any flaw in this movie, I only find minor stuff that I would never complained about in any other film (a lot of sex talk, much less romantic than previous parts). But other than that? Perfect continuation, truly the best film of this year (Though I haven't seen Mud yet). Absolutely must watch if you liked previous films, or in general dialogue-driven films. I need to watch it again, but for now - 10/10.
X-men First Class - 6/10 Not a bad movie, but not really anything special. The scenes with Michael Ironside almost felt like slapstick or something, which was weird. Galaxy Quest - still a solid 8/10 No matter how many times my brother and I watch this, we always laugh just as hard as the first time

Hitchcock It's well made and the acting is great, but isn't perfect. I found it to be too full of itself and quite shallow. I feel like it just tells a standard story that anyone would expect from it. It's still entertaining. If you're not a Hitchcock fan though you definetly won't like it as much. 7/10
Gangster Squad was pretty good. It had a really neat lighthearted feel to it, but kept a serious tone in a lot of the scenes where it mattered. Story was cool, maybe not the most original thing, but it was a lot of fun to watch for me personally, had a few very memorable moments in it. And I mean, Emma Stone AND Ryan Gosling, the two most attractive people from their respective genders in a movie together? Mmmm. 8/10
sorry but gangster squad was a gigantic piece of borderline unwatchable shit

Tangled Very cute and nice movie. Lighthearted and well worth 100 minutes. Feels/10
Carrie (2002 remake)- 4/10 What a fucking dumb adaption.
Basically same rating. If it wasn't so awkwardly hilarious I'd probably give it a 2.
Robot Jox - 7/10 This movie felt really short, it should of been longer but anyway it just went so quickly. This film I think inspired Pacific Rim, and god the robot fight scenes in this movie were cool. I really disliked how they didn't explain the ending or epilogue. It was just that the movie ended on such short note when the villain and Hugo Weaving looking good guy [sp]fist pump then boom credits[/sp] Whatever happened to the other characters, did the woman [sp] survive her injuries [/sp]. In the end, the whole 'guy goes into depression' plot line and length is the downfall of this movie, overall this was kickass to watch. Although being called a 90s movie, the film was actually filmed in 1987 but due to release concerns, wasn't released till 3 years later.
The Iron Giant 10/10 How have I never seen this movie before? It's brilliant, I love it.

I still get chills when The Iron Giant goes fucking crazy.
