I love character designs like the Giant who are very expressive despite having very few moving facial parts.
Also Dean is the coolest

Oblivion

It's nice to see a huge interest in sci-fi movies with directors today, and Tom Cruise did a surprisingly good job at his character. Can't wait for all of the new sci-fi movies coming out :v:
Wind Chill - 6/10
not that good but emily blunt makes lots of moaning sounds so thats cool
Super - 6.5/10

It was a good movie. Not completely original for a superhero movie but there were alot of funny parts. about 80% of the women in this movie are hot. and the Crimson Bolt Has an Awesome costume. But what really kills the movie is awkward Sex/Rape parts.

no its terrible and an insult to Hitchcock
[editline]8th August 2013[/editline]
It makes Hitchcock out to be a disgusting rapey creep and Tippi Hedren like some kind of perfect innocent virgin or whatever. Its terrible, inaccurate and offensive. Worth noting that Hedren didn't get along with Hitchcock beyond a professional level and she was a script consultant.
He didnt throw real birds at her on set because she wouldn't have sex with him. He did it because he wanted a great performance and wanted it to look real. If he was that petty there's no way he would have been able to be one of the greatest directors of all time.
The screentest looks like he's shooting for porn, however you can find the actual screentests on youtube and they're nothing like that. Also, making him try to actually fucking rape her in the limo? Come on. That's just ridiculous and obviously false.
The film is disgusting slander.
[editline]8th August 2013[/editline]
literally no body else in the 50+ features he made accused him of rape or anything like that. The guy had a dark sense of humour but no way was he an actual pervert, rapist or creep like that. On a career level at least, that's so damn unprofessional there is no way he'd have been able to keep making films if he was. There's always been a few rumours of Hitchcock being a bit of a dodgy character, and they've always been rebuked by people who knew him, even a little- not necessarily best friends or anything. Just people he'd worked with. The film's a load of biased shlock and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially if you like Hitchcock films.
Battleship (2012) - 7/10
Got me excited. Especially the part where they refurbish the USS Missouri with the old veterans.
Fargo - 8/10
I enjoyed it, i liked the humour and the more serious moments too. I was engaged throughout the whole movie.
Being a fan of Rowan Atkinson, I thought i'd watch the movie he made a while ago called 'Johnny English'.
Basically its a low budget parody of James Bond, clearly aimed primarily at kids.
Before I even get to anything else, I should start with the humor. Well, the two best gags in the entire film were spoiled for me in the trailer. Scratch that, the only two gags that were actually genuinely funny.
The entire film is basically a collection of sketches. 99% of them have incredibly poor timing - at one point, J.E accidentally parachutes into a hospital instead of another large building and obviously mistakes it for the evil lair. The problem is, I got the punchline moments after he entered, and I didn't even find it funny. Now imagine the joke being stretched out for 2-3 minutes, with him herding patients and pointing guns at doctors.
The jokes were all far too stretched out and the release (the moment where you'd get it) was fucking terrible. The underline of every single joke in the movie is that 'J.E is retarded and makes another mistake! Look! funny!' They also the reuse 'look! he has a broken toy gun!' gag about 4 times.
It was actually hard to watch, cringe worthy at worst and by the time I got 3/4 of the way through the film I just put it down.
The plot is shit, the acting is pretty shit and weak, the humor is so bad its on the level where kids *might* laugh at it and in general it is painful to watch.
2/10. I can't believe I paid £7.99 for this shit.

It is literally one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

I always kinda liked it, though that's probably because its one of the first films I remember owning and I liked it as a kid. Yeah, its stupid, but it's meant to be.
I also saw the sequel, which I had forgotten existed, which I think was alright (although obviously very forgettable) and interestingly actually has a (slightly) higher imdb rating than the first one.
Now You See Me
Had never heard of it until the day I watched it. Wasn't expecting much but it was quite fun. Probably more the kinda film you might watch on Netflix when bored rather than in the cinema.
It also made me realize I just can't see Michael Caine as a "bad guy" (or in this case pretty much just a dick, he isn't really a villain).
imo sunset was arguably the best but realistically I can't decide which means more to me.
Linklater is just a fantastic filmmaker.
The first one was the most magical, the most romantic. Main characters were stupid teenagers living one magical evening. I still have a lot of sentiment to that movie. Sunset was more down to earth, one could say - more mature (it's funny, even characters notice that).
There was one more thing, one particular element this part was missing - the city. Both Vienna and Paris were beautiful as a background to rest your eyes when characters were having their long monologues. Here on a Greek island it's not a great landscape, it's almost a plot element, but I wouldn't call it a bad thing either. Different, but not bad.
Honestly, it's hard to find more perfect film series. I'm eagerly awaiting 2022.
I doubt it will continue for another.. but then everyone doubted the first and second would have sequels.
Sunset was mature yes but there's was just a tad more reality and clarity in each of their characters, they're all pretty romantic and the first is far less depressive in any sense.
Breathe In- 4/5
A very intimate film starring Guy Pearce as a piano teacher whose real passion is Cello and a teenage girl from England staying at their house on an exchange programme. Very real, very beautiful, touches some real emotions. It feels like you're just watching everything- the dialogue is fantastic and so natural, as are all the relationships.
This premiered at the EIFF but I missed it. It opened the festival so it cost a lot (like £14 or something...) But although it's still not on a full theatrical run yet one of the small cinemas here showed it another couple of times this past week. I caught the last showing this afternoon.
As well as being incredibly natural and intimate I really must commend the cinematography- it's like a more grounded Terrrence Malick, similar to say, Shane Carruth. But not nearly as complex :v: it almost feels ethereal- there's one scene [sp]when Keith and Sophie are laying in the reservoir[/sp] that features really beautiful editing, sound design and visuals to make an already incredibly beautiful and emotional scene become something transcendant. It's fantastic.
As well as being a fantastic film it's great to see Guy Pearce starring in a film again, instead of just having a small role in a big Hollywood film (well he had a pretty big role in Iron Man 3 but it wasn't a demanding role nor a starring one). His performance is one of the best of his career and the best in a long time. His portrayal of a secretly lonely and insecure man suffering a midlife crisis is brilliant. His wife and the girl who plays Sophie are excellent as well.
I don't know when this film is getting a theatrical run or how wide it'll be (probably not very wide) but if it appears near you I'd definitely recommend it. One of my favourites of the year.
Lone Ranger - 6.6/10
ehh not as bad as people said really, it was fun and had some fun stuff and that part at the end where they play the Lone Ranger theme gave me goosebumps, honestly.
nothing great though. the biggest thing that bugged me was how its made by disney with a pg-13 rating but you see a psycho cannibal guy cuting open another man's heart and eating it??
well you dont really see him doing it but it still happens and it was pretty disturbing compared to the rest of the movie

Why would you consider that a bad thing, I love it when movies try to push their luck with a lower rating.
Eh, i don't get the ratings. I've been watching 18's since i was 8 and i'm not in any way disturbed.
Why would you consider that a bad thing, I love it when movies try to push their luck with a lower rating.
I've not seen The Lone Ranger and have no desire to but the problem seems to be more with tone and taste rather than the material pushing a rating. The tone of The Lone Ranger is apparently way off and it's darker than it needs to be or should be. And a face-eating scene is just excessive and unneeded.

I haven't seen an action movie as good as this in a long while. Its' very well made and kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. 8/10
the godfather part 2 - i have mixed feelings about this one. i liked it but i think that it doesnt really
work how it has two different stories. also i found vitos story much more interesting than michaels
Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa - 8/10
Very, very funny. I'd say you probably need to get into the TV shows first to familiarise yourself with the character, but if you're already a Partridge fan you'll love it.
Just watched The Departed. 8.5 out of 10. I love cop movies, I love gangster movies, so this was a dream combo. I liked the story a lot, the Irish mob boss did a very good job of acting insane, and both of the main characters played their parts well. Glad I sat down and watched it finally :v:
You remember the ending being sad when you were younger?
The movie hasn't even been out that long jeez.
Taken 2 5/10
Didn't even need to be made also the fighting scenes were put together so horribly
Jersey Shore Shark Attack
I've picked this one up from the local video rental store a couple times before but just now got to watching it in honor of Shark Week. As far as low-budget shark movies are concerned, this one isn't too bad. The satire is pretty nice and the acting isn't the worse that I've seen. However, it still has the horrible CGI sharks common to these movies. Having bad rubber sharks or animatronics would have more of a charm. This is probably one of my favorite low-budget shark movies, but I have yet to see Sharknado, so who knows.
I give it 4 dead guidos out of 5.

Michael's story was very boring in my opinion, like when he goes to Cuba, it was just so uninteresting to watch that I fell asleep. I hated how they kept cutting out from Vito's story to Michaels. People like say 'its better than the first one', all of them overreacted to the movie. Critics also criticized Ebert for rating it 3/4 than 4/4.

I'd say there's more to be got out of the second than the first but I've watched the first way too many times...
X-3 the last stand
