gosh your post is so backwards
Did you not like her in The other Boleyn girl, Matchpoint, Lost in translation and the fantastic Vicky Cristina? I'll be the first to agree she's made some shit but theres some quality in her back catalog. We do have rather different tastes in films. I also enjoyed those pictures they took from her phone.
I really don't know what you guys are talking about, I thought all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies were great. Except Hulk. That was just terrible.
Captain America sucked.
Captain America sucked.
when i first watched it was like "eh, this is good but it feels too much like joe johnston wanting to make indiana jones" then i watched it a second time and goddamn that was good. i have yet to be disappointed by an avengers film.

I really didn't hate thor. I thought it was a decent movie despite the 80s style cheesiness, I wouldn't put it in my top 10 superhero movies, but I enjoyed it, it wasn't unwatchable like Hulk. And although there's a few bad decisions in it, it wasn't "why the fuck would you do this" like CA.
i thought thors character was way too 1 dimensional, and the fact that the movie goes out of its way to make him a metaphor for "big dumb jock" during the first half just makes me less interested in the protagonist, toppled by the fact that the only reason he "sees the error in his ways" was once again through love
I agree with you despite my defence of the film. Iits not something you can judge on a deeper, artistic level but I felt there was at least an emotional structure to the character, even if it was a very simple one. I didn't feel any of that from the few other Marvel films I've seen. I'm bleeting about films I don't really have any interest in normally. Its fun thrashing out opinions on superhero films, much easier than arthouse.
I just ordered this poster and we totally should have a film media thread
I should get that poster. I love the movie and I love that poster.
Oblivion - 8/10 Enjoyed this movie a lot. loved the soundtrack and visuals were gorgeous.
I agree, I liked all the Phase 1 films even including Hulk because Hulk 2008 felt like a masterpiece after watching Hulk 2003 :v:
they both have their ups and downs over each other but personally i wouldn't watch either of them again, i also keep forgetting that TIH is technically a part of the whole avengers thing.
Just watched Howl's Moving Castle. I've never seen any Studio Ghibli movies before, but I thought it was great, though it had a few confusing parts. 8/10

Just check out all of them
Hulk 2003 was terrible and so was The Incredible Hulk. The only thing I remember from those movies were the action scenes with Hulk fighting a bunch of tanks and helicopters. I didn't feel attached to Bruce Banner, I never felt truly sorry for what he was going through, the writing was hokey in both movies, not to mention that the CGI is atrocious in both of them. [t]http://www.cinematoria.com/images/films/the-incredible-hulk_2008/screenshots/the-incredible-hulk_2008-2-1920x1200.jpg[/t] [t]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pBL4_9zSJmY/UQm95Xbp5BI/AAAAAAAAACc/GiETRY4deQw/s1600/Hulk-2003.png[/t] Seriously, did you believe that you were looking at the Hulk for one fucking second of either of these movies?
norton's hulk was definitely better. but ruffalo > all
I always thought the 2003 Hulk was good. I saw for the first time when I was like 10, so it's probably got some nostalgic value to it. But it seemed like it was the first attempt at a serious super hero movie. Sure it's not perfect, but I still like it :v: Also Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. 3/5 Not as funny as I was expecting, it was leaning more to the drama side, and the characters were kind of annoying at the start. But there were some great moments and interesting end of the world scenarios. So I'd recommend it.
Watch Porco Rosso or Princess Mononoke Then you'll be really amazed
Arrietty made me feel a bit euphoric afterwards, haha
But it seemed like it was the first attempt at a serious super hero movie.
I disagree, I think that title would go to 'Superman the Movie'. Sure, it had some comedic stuff in it (Otis) but it was the film that made superhero genre big and important in the film industry. Back then it was Adam West Batman and before that, Geoege Reeves Superman. The hulk tv series took its main character fairly seriously too. Lee's Hulk went overboard and bored me to tears with its mediocre writing and shoddy effects even for then.
Alright, here it is TheKritter71's Sequel-month: Disney I will be putting myself through pain throughout the whole month. The direct-to-video Disney sequels are perhaps the worst moneymakers in direct-to-video history. While the money comes in, the quality doesn't. Cash-in these are, but I'll just tell you what I've seen already. The Lion King II - 4.5/10 The sequel ruins the original in all it's right. The original was meant to be a one and only film, mixing the Disney formula with a Shakespearean dose. The Lion King was perhaps one of the best Disney theatrical films released at the time. However, the sequel is mediocre and gives us a more badly-plotted Shakespearean sequel (via Romeo and Juliet, which is also a overused Shakespearean story for a film, special criticism reserved for Gnomeo and Juliet). While Matthew Broderick and most of the voice actors return to voice in the sequel, exceptions are Zazu and Scar. The sound alikes for the two characters are bad, Zazu especially. The music is forgettable, but it never comes near even to the success of Lion King, The humor provided by Timon and Puumba is cheap unlike the first film (but note everyone, this changes in the Lion King 1/2 and they are actually funny again) The Lion King 1 1/2 - 7.5/10 I enjoyed this as a kid and I enjoy it today. Unlike Lion King II, the story doesn't involve a plot that involved Shakespeare driven stories. This was made as a Timon and Puumba story centered movie. The humor is back, and Timon and Puumba are once again funny. It also shows how the two met each other (which takes place during the events the first film). Timon and Puumba become best friends and raise Simba, then become heroes as in the original film. While alot of people think this movie takes a shit on the original, I tend to disagree. The movie is funny, the animation is smooth and high on quality (unlike Lion King II). Bambi II - 6/10 It isn't good or bad. The movie takes place after [sp]Bambi's mother got shot by a hunter[/sp] and his father (played by Patrick Stewart!!!) decides to keep an eye on him till a surrogate mother can be found. The movie basically is Bambi's adventures throughout the summer. In the end [sp] Bambi's father decides to stay with his son [/sp]. The plot isn't really good, but the voice acting and animation is somewhat high quality. There is however, a shit load of cliches in this movie. I think the film is somewhat a father-son film, but kids will love it...adults not so much. The humor is funny in the movie, but sometimes it can be a little cheap. I will tell you, alot of the kid voice actors are so god damn annoying and obnoxious. I wonder how Stewart got along with the 7 year olds. Anyway more reviews to come soon
extremely loud & incredibly close was surprised how good it was i give it 4 hijacked planes out of 5
I'll just tell you, I hate the child actor in that movie so much, he makes me want to kill myself.
he was annyoing as shit but his character [sp]was autistic[/sp] so i forgave him
~snip~
Oh, I can't wait for you to go through hunchback 2 and the beauty and the beast sequels. I've watched the lion king films more than I should've [editline]29th April 2013[/editline] All direct to video/DVD lion king movies pisses on the original
Decided to watch Drive (2011) tonight. Watching it without knowing anything about is of course a good experience, but damn did that movie take me by surprise. Simple yet still intriguing and engaging plot, solid action, non-complex romance and not that predictable. The ability of telling a lot about the characters through their actions and not a shitload of dialogue was nice. Personally, I thought Ryan Gosling did an awesome job. I haven't seen many other movies that he's starred in. I can't immediately think of any problems I had with the movie. Damn. :v: 10/10
saw Chinatown. Haven't seen in a few years (think about 4 years). I liked it a lot the first time around, but when I saw it this time, the ending kind of pierced me a bit harder and I'm not sure why. Maybe I've changed but whatever, after seeing it again it's become a lot more meaningful for me. Great film. saw Upstream Color Damn, that director literally evolved after all those years. Now the first time I saw Primer, I didn't comprehend what the fuck was going on about who, what, where and how. Somewhere along the line I kind of disconnected and fell apart in my mind until the end. People say you're supposed to see it with subtitles first time around but I'll definitely have to give that a rewatch. This one however, this guy literally hits a WHOLE NEW TIER. As in Terence Malick kind of tier, which will probably put off a nice wide range of people! I'm not going to say it's wholeheartedly a Malick influenced film because it has its own feel. It's more bitter and depressive than I expected. Whereas Malick always brings light to people's lives, here we're kind of seeing the destruction and recovery, it's more about the struggle to get back on your feet after being knocked so hard. I felt a lot more connected to this film throughout than Primer. Very soothing, mesmerising and inviting. The soundtrack created by the director only adds to this. Can't recommend it enough, but since Malick's films tend to divide audiences then it won't be for everyone. For people who really adored Primer, I say be weary this is a mile away from what he was doing all those years ago.

the hulks weren't that bad come on
Goodbye Lenin. 8/10
the hulks weren't that bad come on
They weren't awful films. I just don't think they were particularly good movies. [editline]29th April 2013[/editline] Also, The Last Stand: 6/10 It would probably be a 5/10 but I was in a good mood when I watched this. Honestly though, not a 'good' movie but I had fun. To think that the director who did 'The Good, the Bad and the Weird made this.
wtf Kritter Lion King II was mediocre, sure, but Lion King 1 1/2 was a fucking sacrilege.
It did somewhat shit on the original, but I loved it as a kid and still love it today. It's my childhood rating basically, if I didn't see it when I was a kid and saw it now I would give it a 5.5/10
