They Live 8/10 wasn't as bad as Prince of Darkness, so in my mind it's pretty good
They Live has not aged all that well but it's still a very interesting one, considering how it came after Carpenter's big-budget Hollywood movies.
I can tell people who liked Pacific Rim just by their smell and looks, you either are a wimpy teenager or a dumbfuck jock boy or at least have the mentality of one of them.
pacific rim was a solid and fun action creature feature though so you're wrong
Elysium - 8/10 seeing as how i was dying to see this as soon as i heard it was coming out, i left the theater feeling fine. i can see the flaws people point out and district 9 is definitely the better movie but i don't think the two can really be compared when they have ups and downs over each other. we need more people like neill blomkamp, writing good, hard (and most importantly) and original scifi films along with a great cgi team and good cast as well. seriously, this is probably copley's best role yet. We're The Millers - 7/10 went in not knowing anything about this and got a few solid laughs out of it. don't think it was worth seeing on the big screen though. 28 Days Later - 9/10 i do love to revisit movies from time to time, and this is just so damn well made, and also has christopher fuckin eccleston before he became the doctor. i really want boyle to get working on 28 months later already.
We're the millers-7-8/10 I liked it a lot. Scary Movie V-blow my brains out/10 I know its scary movie and its bad but holy fucking shit its literally the worst movie i have ever seen.
I watched the Shawshank Redemption for like the 5th time 10/10
so we changed the thread title to say "no tv shows" but left "april" in there :v:
guess I started something
Watched The Green Mile Today Made me tear up even harder realizing that Michael Clarke Duncan is dead... damn. You see him in so many movies, its hard to believe he's gone when his legacy is all around, ya know?
The Watch. Man this definitely got more hate than it deserves. It wasn't great or anything, but people have been going around saying it's the worst comedy of the last decade. It was a light hearted fluff film with some genuinely funny moments. If it's on tv and you've got nothing better to do I'd say watch it for a laugh or two.
Brazil (1985) - 5/5 This movie is art. Without of doubt, a underrated and forgotten masterpiece.
sometimes I wonder if I should try and watch Brazil again because I tried to watch it before and got about 40 minutes in before turning it off because I could find no redeeming factors about it [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] its very rare for me to turn off a film as well. I just couldnt take it.
because brazil is a piece of shit and terry gilliam is a hack fraud who values style over substance. of which brazil had none of. [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] only good terry gilliam movies are fear and loathing and 12 monkeys
Speaking of Terry Gilliam, his criticism of Schindler's List always confused me. Something about how the ending makes the holocaust seem light hearted??
that doesnt make sense it was even directed by a jew and endorsed by all the survivors terry gilliam sucks
derp night rises - 2/5 [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] as mush I love dark knight, what the fuck happened with this´? [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] and don't listen to rusty. brazil is great and you should give it a watch.

Just finished watching the Breakfast Club for the first time. I give it a "really good" out of ten. It both has and hasn't aged well, and it's ridiculously overhyped, but at the same time it is a very good film. That dumb bit with the makeover felt so out of place and contradictory to the main theme though.
Unbreakable It was fairly interesting up until the part where he actually tried to be a hero. The entire sequence was just boring and never even made use of his 'unbreakable' ability. Bruce Willis was also pretty damn bad in the role. and the twist was so fucking dumb god damn 4/10
Unforgiven I love westerns. Like, a lot. Don't know how I skipped out on this until now. But it was such a well put together movie with so many well played moments. Took a different path than a lot of westerns which was neat to see, really just a fantastic movie that was a just done completely right. Eastwood/10

Elysium - 7/10 I feel like it couldve been better..
I'm not ENTIRELY sure if this counts, but: Rifftrax Live: Starship Troopers - 9.5/10 For those who don't know, Rifftrax is a team of guys who used to be from Mystery Science Theater 3000 who do what MST3K did: make fun of movies. While MST did public domain B-movies, Rifftrax releases audio commentaries that you synch up to big budget movies, but they do live shows where they usually do public domain movies. Thanks to a successful kickstarter campaign, however, they scored the rights to do a live riff on Starship Troopers (although they originally intended to do Twilight), which they broadcasted to theaters all over the US and Canada. People may scoff at the idea of making fun of Starship Troopers because it's already a satire, but personally, they can bite my ass, because the end result was still hilarious. I would have rated this a 10/10 but they pussed out during the nude scenes and found a way to censor them (by use of an admittedly funny skit and the cameras recording the show not focusing on the screen during the scenes). It's kinda hypocritical since they had no problem showing all the gory parts, but we're talking about American audiences so I guess it's understandable. Anyways, it was an amazing show, and I hope they'll be able to do live riffs on other blockbuster movies in the future.

Best ending line ever? Best ending ever? Best film nominated for Best Picture in 1975? Yes, yes, yes. It's a smart, slow burner, with perhaps the best climax since The Godfather. I just saw it for the first time and it's hard to be coherent about it, so here's the rating. 9.2/10 [editline]17th August 2013[/editline] Christ I want to give it a 10, but it took a little too long to get the ball rolling. Still without a doubt a new personal favorite.
you are correct chinatown owns
