Just watched the Hurt Locker, been watching a lot of war movies lately and this was a movie I heard a ton of good things about, so I decided to watch it. Was not disappointed at all. It's a movie about an EOD team, and the tense atmosphere you would expect from a job where you walk up to things designed to blow you to pieces a dozen times over is certainly there. Was rather realistic in it's portrayal of the soldiers as well, they weren't all super men, but guys with actual worries and feelings. The sniper scene, and the scene with the body bomb were really neat to watch, definitely put across some very tense and eerie feelings with those. Movie gets a 9/10 from me, easily. Another thing was that I was going into it expecting a laughable movie, considering everyone said "There too much 'murica in the movie!!". I didn't really see anything I'd describe as that, but then again most of the people who said that were people were Europeans, so maybe they think even portraying America in a movie is too much USA for them, so I don't know :v: I liked it a lot though.

Not a right way though
i like hurt locker, y'all look at it too politically
More like its a boring movie, with bad acting and a boring plot

The whole movie seemed like a waste of time until the raid. Even then it wasn't entirely exciting. There aren't many good modern war movies, tbh.
The Man From Nowhere - 8 / 10 Loses points for being cliche with some corny dialogue, but it was a great film otherwise. Excellent direction, the fight scenes were choreographed very well, cool martial arts action that was somewhat realistic.
Man of Tai Chi Great direction, spectacular fight scenes, awesome music. Dumb plot, and terrible script. Worth a watch if you love martial arts movies. I didn't realise Keanu directed it either until the end credits. Dude can direct a film. He just needs to find some better writers
Whoa, where did you see that? I thought it was only released in China at the moment.
I think it's in Australia since I saw another user from there who gave a review.
I just watched O Brother, Where Art Thou with my dad because he says it's one of his favorites, and I'd ever seen it, so why not? It was a decent movie in most parents, a little boring in some scenes, but generally a very fun movie to watch. But the thing that sold it for me was the soundtrack, it definitely has one of the most memorable soundtracks I can think of out of all the movies I've seen. Pretty neat movie, glad dad showed it to me :v:
Oh my god I just watched Fight Club for the first time, so good jesus christ I don't know why I put off watching it for so long, but every day I was at risk of getting the [sp]plot twist[/sp] spoiled to me, so glad it somehow never happened. Just how everything ties together feels so good. Half way through the movie, I was afraid I wasn't getting it at all, saying stuff like "Why is soap keep getting mentioned?" "Why is Marla getting mad at him for no reason" "Why is Tyler so weird and progressively dressing more strangely?" and stuff like that, but when everything clicked, it was amazing. I don't want to give it 10/10, but I actually can't think of any flaws at all with the movie, great acting, writing, cinematography, pretty much everything is good. [editline]23rd August 2013[/editline] Well I guess [sp]Edward Norton gathering up thousands of followers around the country to join his club was a little far-fetched, but you gotta suspend your disbelief to enjoy any movie.[/sp]
Fight Club is very average tbh. I've actually been trying to wrap my head around David Fincher's acclaim but I can't get it cos he is good but nothing more as a director. [editline]23rd August 2013[/editline] Also-- Ben Affleck is playing Batman in the Superman-Batman crossover (srs) Thoughts? I kinda love it. I'm a big fan of Ben Affleck and I think he's really shown his worth again after climbing out of his shitty career period. I think he can pull it off.

I think he can pull it off.
Don't forget that he climbed out of his shitty career period only by returning to writing and directing. Sure, people mention The Town but Ben Affleck's acting is one of the things I don't recall from that film. It was mediocre - not terrific, not terrible, but forgettable.
Kick ass 2 5/10 Feels like a massive step down from the first.
Felidae: What the fuck did I just watch/10 But seriously besides some really over-the-top and unnecessary shit, the movie was far from bad. I give it an 8/10. The voice syncing got pretty bad at times, but I assume that's due to it being a German film dubbed in English. The animation is very ye olde Disney-esc, which makes the incredible amounts of violence all the more jarring. It's worth the watch just for the "what the fuck" factor.
El topo - 4/5 Really nice. Reminded me of some Lynch's works, but I think I will see more similarities if I'll see more of Jodorowsky's films. Any recommendations, but a bit lighter?
el topo was better than anything lynch did imo, yet to see Inland Empire though.
You're Next - 7/10 It starts off very predictable and cliché like any other shitty jumpscare-horror movies with bad dialogue. the cast feels very weak and acting is almost awkward at times, so I already sort of gave hope on it. BUT THEN about halfway through the film, it really starts. like as if the director purposely made the movie bad and poorly developed these characters just to make fun of it all and before i knew it suddenly i was watching a horror comedy that felt a bit like evil dead out of place music, funny reactions of characters reacting to horrific things, stupid/funny dialogues. my biggest problem would be that the actual fun part of the movie when things go crazy is way too short compared to the boring half to 3/4th of the movie or so and also how much different they are from each other all in all its a fun movie and definitely worth seeing if you're looking for something new in horror movies
the green mile, what a film
im really looking forward to You're Next. Not expecting a masterpiece but I've been hearing about it since it did a little fest run in 2011 so I'm pretty hyped, I just want something a bit different and fresh which is exactly what it seems to be.
The Godfather I'd watched it a few years ago and I didn't think that much of it, I thought it was long and confusing, but I think I was too young to really understand it. This time around I payed more attention and I enjoyed it a lot more. I thought it was overrated before but now I agree it is an incredible film. Might as well be a 10/10.

It's universally hated in the army for being incredibly unrealistic. I thought zero dark thirty was alright, but definitely didn't deserve the 95% it got.
The Hurt Locker wasn't very good but man ZDT was terrible. Probably a 2 star film for me. So many terrible things to sum up quickly. However Jessica Chastain was fantastic in the lead role.
Kick ass 2 5/10 Feels like a massive step down from the first.
Maybe its because I haven't watched the first in so long, but I thought 2 was alright! 7/10, fun watch!
Man of Tai Chi - 3/5 If the fight scenes would have been a little bit better I would have given it 4/5. I think the more "important" the fight scene the worse it was. The story would have been better without the cop side story. It had seriously pretty much nothing to do with the main story and just a waste of screentime. Only looking at the main story it was actually one of the better ones as far as fighting movies go. It was cheesy as hell which is okay with me but it also had really well done character progression. Something which I find rare in movies.
Can anyone explain real quickly why Zero Dark Thirty is so badly received here? I'm not trying to defend it or whatever (I haven't seen it anyway), but it seems like the only reason people don't like it is because of inaccuracies and being US propaganda. Argo was full of inaccuracies and was pretty much US propaganda too, but people here like it and so did I.

Jagten/The Hunt - 9 Such an emotionally draining movie, Mads Mikkelsen really is great in it though, was engaged all the way through. I imagine similar events have happened more than people might expect.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 I hate this movie. Not only is it a shameless cash grab capitalising on the original movie's success, it also takes everything that movie did right and does the exact opposite. The acting is bad, the plot is bad, the editing is bad everything is fucking bad. Worst of all it isn't the least bit scary. I wish this movie didn't exist.
