Maybe it was just me but I was all together scared THAT much by the first Blair Witch Project movie. I mean it definitely had a creepy feel to it and it was a very interesting movie to watch however, definitely not one of the movies I regret watching at all, it was very good. Maybe I just read too much of people on the internet proclaiming it as the scariest movie of all time.
The Wolverine 5/10
The action scenes were fun but some were too cheesy. The plot was just so fucking stupid and confusing and I'm still confused about it after seeing the movie and reading the plot synopsis on Wikipedia.
Fight Club is very average tbh. I've actually been trying to wrap my head around David Fincher's acclaim but I can't get it cos he is good but nothing more as a director.

Also-- Ben Affleck is playing Batman in the Superman-Batman crossover (srs)
Thoughts? I kinda love it. I'm a big fan of Ben Affleck and I think he's really shown his worth again after climbing out of his shitty career period. I think he can pull it off.
ben affleck is also the worst possible choice for batman
should've done jgl or literally anyone else
Lee Daniels' The Butler
I only went to see this movie as one of my teachers was giving extra credit if we went to see it. I didn't know what to expect, I hadn't seen any sort of advertisements for it at all.
Right off the bat, [sp]the main character's dad dies[/sp]. This didn't have any impact at all because I didn't know that it was the main character, nor did I know that it was his dad.
Anyway, once it got into it, I was thinking it was going to be kinda like Forrest Gump. It was, if Forrest Gump was much more boring. This movie is a bit over 2 hours long, and I felt like not much happened at all throughout the entire thing. The whole movie was basically "I'm a butler doing butler things, oh look new decade new president." There was a subplot about the main character's son who was fighting for civil rights, but it didn't really do much.
The movie wasn't horrible (the acting was pretty good), but it was incredibly boring. Also I couldn't take Robin Williams seriously as Eisenhower, and John Cusack reminds me of Nic Cage for some reason, so Nixon was ruined too.
If you want to go see a long, drawn-out, boring movie then go see this.
Overall, 4/10, would not recommend to friends.
The Bourne Supremacy - 7.5/10

This is a good sequel - revisits and builds on the first film without outright copying it. I didn't like how the camera was shaky compared to the steadier cinematography in Identity, but the action was still very good.
(Are Ultimatum and/or Legacy any good? I think I remember hearing that Ultimatum was rubbish)

I think you misheard, Ultimatum was the best out of the bunch (by far imo) and Legacy was the rubbish one. and i never really rely on critic scores but it got an 85 overall, which is pretty goddamn amazing for an action movie.
Also if you think the camera was shaky in Supremacy get prepared to vomit in the next one
but seriously watch ultimatum it's the bees knees
only watch legacy if there's not much else, it's not good but it's not unwatchable either. I really wouldn't even consider that a Bourne movie

Obviously it isn't terrifying or anything but it's as scary as a movie can be IMO.

the bourne ultimatum is one of my all time favorites, i gotta thank whoever told me here to watch it
Well gee, that's good to hear. Guess I'd better check out that one.
R.I.P.D - 5/10
Slither - 7/10
A surprisingly good comedy horror. I wasn't expecting much but it was really fun.
Smiley - fuck you Travis for making me watch this/10
I haven't described a movie as "dumb" since I was like 7, and this movie was dumb. I have a newfound respect for any movie that isn't this one.
I'm rewatching Hunger and Shame tonight
Hunger - 8.5/10
how great it wouldve been to see this in the theatres...
the tone is perfect, it knows exactly what its doing and never goes off border
the performances keep you on the edge the whole time, especially during the long 15 to 20 minute shot of fassbender and lian cunningham talking, pure gold
Harry Brown - 7/10
The World's End: yes
unbelievably funny and well-paced, and it doesn't take itself too seriously

jesus that was fucking bad
jesus that was fucking bad
There's a part five minutes later where people throw beer cans at Shane Dawson while screaming pedobear and asking "Do you approve this message?"

never realized his suit had batnipples
The World's End is a perfect 10 for me. It's a perfect fit for the Cornetto trilogy and they made damn sure to make it seem "independent" of the other films' styles.
RED 8/10
Very fun movie, but I thought the plot was a little weak/boring and slightly confusing.
Taxi Driver
First time ever seeing this one, all I can say is I love it.
9/10
42 - 42/60

Generally, movies that are inspirational, or about sports, racism, or history have a dangerous chance of becoming terrible and hokey. Seeing as this contains all four I didn't exactly have high hopes.
Well, 42 is no Remember the Titans but it is a solid movie. While there are a lot of cliched scenes and scenarios, the great cast brings the film up.
Harrison Ford is great and in full grumpy old man mode, with cigar constantly in hand as he challenges the status quo in a gravelly tone. The supporting cast of baseballers - both teammates and opponents - do an all-around good job of filling out the movie. Chadwick Boseman does great as Jackie Robinson; he has the chops to range from serious and stone-faced to cheerful and elated to angry and emotional, all with solid, relatable, believable weight. At times, he seems like more of a plot device as the focus shifts to cigar-chomping Ford hollering at someone through the telephone, but when we come back to Robinson his strong performance is right there.
Not a fantastic movie, but a rather good one.
The World's End: 4/5
Yeah. Fuck it.
Cape Fear
8/10
The Hobbit: 4/5
Better than I was expecting. It got a lot of backlash, mostly for being too long and silly. But the source material was definitely more light hearted than the Lord of the Rings. And every scene felt like it was relevant. There's not much I would have cut out of it.
Some of the CGI was unnecessary, the Ork make up for LOTR definitely looks better. But it was all pretty fantastic. Especially Gollum. That whole scene was amazing.
Easily the best fantasy film to come out since ROTK.
I'm really looking forward to the second one.
God Bless America 7/10
I loved how the movie portrayed popular culture and the state of America. The irony of the protagonist was also great.
tiresome pretentious rants the movie
tiresome pretentious rants the movie
I can see your point. The pacing wasn't great and it was really stupid but thats kind of what I expected when I started watching it.
i dunno world's greatest dad set the benchmark pretty high for bobcat's future movies so considering god bless america was so terrible i was incredibly disappointed.
it just blows its rant load right at the start of the movie. then the rants just keep coming and stretching on for too long and eventually the movie just sort of peters out with a dumb little blaze of glory that's message is so terrible whether it's interpreted as a funny over the top gag or a lampoon of society. it leaves such a bad taste in the mouth. it walks the line of making fun of people who believe the things he says in his rants, and actually believing them and hating the rest of society for being idiots, so when it's over you're not sure which side it was parodying anymore (and both were equally bad) and it was just a lazy unfunny ego trip.
[editline]25th August 2013[/editline]
it was also really poorly edited together to boot
[editline]25th August 2013[/editline]
the ULTIMATE irony is the biggest fanbase that movie has is the general idiot masses who go 'HAHA YEAH VIOLENCE HAHA TAKE THAT STUPID PEOPLE GLAD IM NOT THAT DUMB. CORPORAL PUNISHMENT YEAH'
but its a good thing it seems like the movie was equally making fun of people like the main character and the girl too, meaning even people who liked it for the opposite reasons are just as stupid. basically any which way you look at it, fans of this movie are idiots. (but i get the inkling the double edged parody was unintentional :I)
