From what I've seen most reviewers use 7 or even 6 as the average. It doesn't seem to matter if its games, movies or books.
Fruitvale Station - fuckhumanity/10

Well, it was upsetting as fuck and made me hate people basically.
So I guess I'd say that it was, indeed, good.
Memento
watching this at 2AM when I hadn't slept all day fucked my head
Really good movie though, was fun to watch and the story tied itself up in a cool way, thought I had it figured out but it turns what you think right on its head
wow/10
Kick Ass - 9/10
Seeing Kick Ass 2 tomorrow.
You're Next. 6/10.
I wouldnt pay to see it but its still a kinda good movie. The thing is, that it doesnt take itself serious so you shouldnt either and youll enjoy the movie a lot.
What i think is funny is there killers that take the time to correctly spell "You're" on the walls
The Lords of Salem
just...what?
Okay, maybe it's meaningful to people who know something more than me about witches and religion, but all I got from it were some creeps and a bunch of wtf moments.
I like Rob Zombie, I'm definetly not an expert but I've seen his recent stuff. Halloween, Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 corpses etc. but this one, man, I don't know. I found it weird, quite pointless and overall not a good movie. It's well done as in photography, sound design and all but the story just lacks. There's hardly any character development, and I felt little to no involvement or intrigue in what was going on. At a certain point it seemed like it was turning into Rosemary's Baby and I was starting to enjoy it but that didn't last.
If I had to rate it, it would be a 5.5/10

"Oh this movie sounds interesting then let's look at imdb for more detail"

Ummmm why is it every movie on imdb has retarded people, and I can't help feeling that since they are comparing it to that it spoils the movie in some way?
You're Next - 8/10
Best Slasher film I've seen in awhile.
Takes campy to a whole new level and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The imdb community is retarded as a whole.
The events in the movie happened in 2009 so it really has no relation to the Trayvon Martin garbage.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Subtitle
7/10
I liked it quite a bit. I was worried it'd be too much like Lord of the Rings, but it wasn't, which was great. The fact that the soundtrack was based on a different tune really helped set itself apart as something else. However, in certain places, the CGI didn't look great, and I wish they'd been able to have Azog in costume with practical effects instead of computer generated. I didn't really feel like it ever reached the emotional depths that it could have reached, especially when compared with the first LotR film, which did hit those emotional depths. The pacing was surprisingly good. I was a bit worried it'd be off, considering that three films are being made from the one book, but it was fine.
The Purge
8/10
It was pretty much a typical "new" horror. But the idea behind it really seemed original and great, it surrounds America in a time when they have an annual "purge" night, were "all crime, including murder, is legal for 12 hours", and the film unravels around that. Really was quite awesome, worth watching.
napoleon dynamite - i really liked it. it has a unique style (both the directing and the cinematography are interesting and special)
Just watched Dredd last night. I would give it a 9.5
Very enjoyable movie.

one of the worst films i have ever seen in my entire life
I can too but then again it's hilarious and it's more of "I can understand how people don't get the humour" than "I can see why people hate it"
My brother adores the Lord Of The Rings films and he re-watches them like once a month so I see parts of them a lot but it has been years since I actually watched them properly, so I decided to watch all 3 of the extended edition (not all at once of course).
Fellowship Of The Ring - 8/10
A bit slow compared to the other two, but there was a lot of story to set up so it is to be expected.
The Two Towers - 9/10
Epic battle.
Return Of The King - 10/10
Epic-er battle(s) and a good way to end it, rounded off nicely.
Trilogy - 10/10
All together it is pretty much perfect. I'm sure there are flaws etc, but films really don't get much better than this.
The special edition we've got has loads of extras as well which details the production and really gives you an idea of the insane amount of work that went into these films.
So yeah, it was good. [sp]and very long[/sp]
Chasing Amy (rewatch)- 5/5
By a country mile the best thing Kevin Smith has ever done and likely ever will do. One of my all time favourite films. People go on about how great Clerks is, but no one really talks about Chasing Amy. It's Smith's best effort as a writer and as a director. It's his smartest film. Like other Smith films, there's a whole load of witty dialogue full of sex discussion and pop culture, but there's a lot more depth to it than first appears. The film's an analysis of sexuality, love and friendship, and how all three link together. It's my favourite romance film, it's the best rom-com I've ever seen, and one of the best explorations of sexuality put to screen. Despite constant homophobic remarks by Banks (Jason Lee) and Holden's (Ben Affleck) naivety and lack of understanding as well as double standards, it's obvious Smith understands both sides to the story.
(possible spoilers here- just doing a train of thought ramble)
I like the way it portrays sexuality as something absolutely not black and white, but always a shade of grey. In all 3 main characters there's elements of that. I don't really think Alyssa was just bisexual the whole time and didn't tell Holden. I think she was confused in high school before becoming comfortable with herself as a lesbian. I don't think Banks was gay or Holden was bi. I understand what it means when Banks accepts that he's attracted to Holden and Holden admits he's been attracted to Banks. They're both straight males but sometimes, as with Alyssa's falling in love with Holden, it doesn't matter what gender or appearance a person has. Sometimes it just clicks. Alyssa's a lesbian but she's in love with Holden. It's a fantastic romance film, one of the greatest, and the entire film as a whole is an amazing, amazing analogy for sexuality in all forms.
This is clearly the most personal thing Kevin Smith has ever done and as I said it's by miles his best. The dialogue is finally poignant and effective every time instead of just being funny and pretty interesting. It's fucking brilliant. Each chat about relationships, love, sex, friendships, it hits the nail on the head every time. Anyone who's ever been in a relationship and/or felt incompetent because of someone else will understand this film completely. This is one of the films that gets me totally engrossed from beginning to end with complete attachment to all of the main characters, and I understand all three perspectives as well as Smith's perspective himself.
This film's a total masterpiece.
[editline]29th August 2013[/editline]
One thing about this film though, and it's not really a problem with the film but more the audience's take on it, is that it could be misinterpreted as misogynistic and the message of the film really could just be, as Jason Lee's character says, "All any girl needs is a good dicking". Although it's totally not, the point of the film is how sexuality is complicated, love is hard, and they'll take you places you never expect.

I also love its philosophy on sex and virginity, and when is virginity lost? When is sex sex and not oral? When is it fucking and when is it making love? Great stuff.

but Fellowship is the best
I'm a little late to the Rambo party, but...
First Blood - 4/5

I found First Blood rather fascinating because it was far from a standard run-and-gun action movie. Wikipedia classifies it as "a psychological thriller/action", and I was surprised to find that John Rambo isn't really much of a protagonist. There's no real audience surrogate character, and although Rambo is definitely sympathetic you're not always rooting for him. Consider the gun-store raiding scene: in other movies like Commando that's a big "hell yeah" as the hero arms himself for the confrontation with his villainous opponents, in First Blood it's more of a weary concern as you wonder how much further the confrontation will escalate.
Rambo himself is very well-written as his ugly backstory is slowly brought to light. He doesn't talk much - in fact, when he hijacks the army truck his chattiness seems decidedly out of character - but his rare surly speech and dramatic flashbacks flesh out what happened to make this man so broken. The longer talking scenes - at the beginning when he learns he's alone and at the end when it all overwhelms him - are excellent encapsulations of his character. Rambo's really a tragic figure, and the conflict between he and Teasle as neither man will back down is engrossing. I was reminded a bit of the Bourne movies - a highly trained, efficient killer goes off the rails - except Jason can't remember and John can't forget.
Also as an Eagle Scout I appreciated his inventiveness and survival strategies.
Now to see the other movies and find out where the franchise went...
I just watched Dr. Horrible's sing-along blog. It's a great movie... Short film... Thing... Very well-written, emotionally-charged, and professionally-done. Also, the final scene hit me... Hard. [sp]He gave up what he wanted for his success, but became a lost shell of himself by doing so. (Evidenced by the last two words in the film, where it cuts to him in plain clothes, staring sadly at the camera.)[/sp]
NPH and Fillion did really great jobs, and I had no idea Felicia Day could sing. Can't wait for the sequel, although it's been postponed until Whedon gets off Avengers 2.
So, yeah. A solid 9/10. Go watch it, if you haven't. It's on Netflix, and probably other places too.
rewatched the first three harry potter movies, they are legitimately fantastic.
probably around 9/10 each. Sort of dreading watching the rest again cos from what i remember they just aren't the same.
I always found Fellowship to be the worst of the three. It felt more like Jackson getting the hang of directing such a large film compared to his previous stuff.
Mainly it felt like some of the pacing was a bit disjointed.
It's still a fantastic movie, but I think Two Towers is the best movie, and Return of the King is the most entertaining.
I probably liked Return Of The King the most because it was the one I had seen the least of before. But yeah, they are all very good and are basically all one long film, the first third is just a bit slower because it's just building up to stuff.
I've... never actually sat down and watched any of the three from start to finish... :/ I'm a terrible person...

Personally, I just imagine that the trilogy as one very long film. I never watch Fellowship without the rest of the trilogy.
