The people in your school are fucking retarded.
Please, they're just....respected.
What I want to know is why people seem to actively ignore warnings labels and ratings, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, the same parents that are bitching about drugs, sex and violence in movies and video games are the same idiots who allowed their children to be exposed to it.
This "Grand Theft Auto" game is filled with violence! LETS ATTACK THE COMPANY, GET IT BANNED IN SOME COUNTRIES AND NEVER, EVER TAKE CONTROL OF WHAT WE LET OUR KIDS PLAY.
It was just a hypothetical example, because in a few decades, who knows? I mean, if the forum is still up, which, sadly, I doubt it is, I mean, all forums have a limited lifespan. But to knip this by the bud: What if? Because, those tightasses would problably attack this if they manage to take down enough things that are "offencive" to them.
There's a cousin we have, his name is Something Awful.
This is somewhat relevant. Waaay back in 5th grade, we had this behavior control system called the Calender. Each time we did something like flip out in class or lose a homework assignment we would be assigned a number corresponding to what we did wrong. If you got three numbers by the end of the month you'd lose the privilege of watching a movie with the rest of the 5th graders in the auditorium at the end of the month. I was a good kid, but of course we had the bad eggs, the repeat offenders, and one of them just happened to have one of those "HE'S PERFECT AND NEVER DOES ANYTHING WRONG, THE TEACHERS ARE OUT TO GET HIM, HE'S A GOOD KID, EVERYONE BULLIES HIM" moms. Basically, he gets his three numbers, its about halfway into the year, he decides to freak out, he cries to his mom, she complains to the school saying that the teachers are excluding her son from school events, he has every right to watch the movie with the rest of the kids who behaved the entire month, she threatens to sue, and the school decides to stop our movie days. So of course the other parents are up in arms, talking shit about the one kid's mom, they complain to the school about it being canceled, but this one mom has the school in a choke-hold simply because it cant afford afford a lawsuit. I liked movie day. :eng99:
It's TH89's fault. I doubt he knows what racist means most of the time. I am an Aussie and I will tell you right now that TH89 banning for abo as an abreviation of aborigine is stupid. Abo is only racist if used to be deroggertary. As in "fuckimg lazy abo cunts, living of the dole". The person who said that has no friends anymore and a crooked nose. Aborigines care more about the little ant they just stood on than abo being used as an abreviation
aborigine is stupid. Abo is only racist if used to be deroggertary. As in "fuckimg lazy abo cunts,
no one would get offended if i used words like ruski, jap or brit. why not Abo?
These days? These days you can't even challenge someone to a duel if they insult your family. Compared to the past, these days the acceptable and available responses to offenses are meek at best.
no one would get offended if i used words like ruski, jap or brit. why not Abo?
I can't yell what your trying to say there, but I think your agreeing. I got a 7 day ban for using abo as an abreviation. Th's explanation was that it was racist and fp doesn't use that sort of language. It's not another way of saying "nigger", it's an abreviation of a long word. I don't know anyone that I know to be from Japan or Russia. But the only person I have met from anywhere near Britain got offended if you looked at her for a split second while turning your head. She loved attention. I wouldn't use "abo" at all if I met an "abo" who was offended by it. I tried to put that nicely, using " nigger" like I have isn't bannable, is it?
I tried to put that nicely, using " nigger" like I have isn't bannable, is it?
Now that TH is gone I think your safe
If you say something SLIGHTLY right-winged where I live, you should pepare yourself for a massiv shitstorm.
There are alot of people out there who literally just look for reasons to complain.
History is nothing but a constant shift of tolerance.
If you say something to do with politics where I live, or go to school, you better be able to turn it into a joke about homos or run. I hate the retards around me, they drag my classes down, which means my end if year 12 mark gets raised, which is bad in QLD, Australia. I want my OP1
To be honest, the n word (you know what I mean) isn't actually derogatory, it's just been twisted to be used as such recently. The massive rush of political correctness in the 60s-90s stopped us being able to say that, it got swear word status, just like nowadays using Paki to describe a Pakistani is offensive. It's just people overreacting. What I find funny is when black people call each other the n word, because they're 'protesting against the racism of whites'. No, you are simply using your immunity. Nowadays, you can't be sexist to men or racist to whites. It's just saying stuff. Soon, we won't even be able to call them blacks, they'll just be 'those with melanin aplenty'. [editline]01:40PM[/editline] We've slowly gotten more equal to the minorities over the years, but now we're becoming less tolerant of the majority, and the tables are tilting.
I reckon we should teach children everything about profanities, sex, etc so that when they are inexplicitly exposed to it, it won't even matter. Eventually, the only way for someone to offend someone else is to do it deliberately.
As an asian american of Chinese descent, racial slurs like "chink" or "gook" offend me alot. I'm not one of those FOB asshats that likes to point out that they are asian with the whole aznpride bullshit. I realize that racism is a touchy subject in society. Especially the use of slurs like that. Everyone has their own threshold of tolerance for that stuff. My friend might be perfectly fine being called a "damn gook" by other friends but I know I am not and since everyone has their own limits its difficult to draw a line. The issue lies there. I don't wish to be hypersensitive with racism but I naturally just feel uncomfortable but that also doesn't mean I should press my own views onto other people. I should respect their limits and they should respect mine

I'm from Australia and if I was too say "I dont want boat people coming here", I would get called a racist. That's my fucking opinion.
Yeah I'm sick of being called racist by white people all the time. I mean I get along with black people no problem, it's just niggers always ruin the day for me.
Yeah, I agree, entirely. It's like people wait for you to say something slightly "offensive" and then it gets :saddowns:

TH89 and Zeke should read this thread, and then hang themselves.

Good thing this shit ain't global, we haven't really had these wackos happen here in Finland
I am an Aussie and I will tell you right now that TH89 banning for abo as an abreviation of aborigine is stupid. They are allowed to say it to eachother if they want because they weren't the ones forcing them to pick cotton and what have you. "political correctness in the 60s" no sorry that was the civil rights movement, it wasn't knee jerk ultra-liberalisms, it was saying blacks should have equal rights to whites and be able to sit on the same part of the bus. Paki is also offensive because it is used by skinheads to incite racial hatred. In England, whites are the majority, therefore attacking the minorities verbally is bound to cause offence. You can be racist towards white men, but it doesn't mean as much because we kind of have it coming, after the centuries of violent colonisation and slavery. Just like you can be sexist to men, but men haven't been the ones kept under finger on a 'seen and not heard' policy. The white well to do male has to face that it's probably our turn to have a bit of mud slung at us [editline]09:27PM[/editline]
I'm a bit curious, what does "the dole" mean? I recall swearing when I was like 8, and when I swore my mom freaked out and said if I swore again she'd slap me, I did, and wham, fucking knocked off side the head. I never swore again until I was like 12.
Are we getting too offended by things? Short answer? Yes. Long answer? HOLY FUCK YES.
