detox was indeed being talked about probably all the way back on 2001 and has since been brought up on the eminem show, encore, and relapse. I don't think they ever said it on recovery but still
The only reason Kush was released was because it didnt make the "final cut" of the Detox album. So I have high hopes for the next 1 to 2 years. Speaking of which i'm just going through all my old rap music and sticking it into iTunes (yes i know itunes is satan etc).
New Pig Destroyer out October the 23rd.

Grind album of the year, called it now.
What about Napalm Death?
Didn't hear it yet, but judging by their previous few efforts it's probably quite good but fairly stagnant and devoid of any attempts at experimentation(Smear Campaign ruled tho), whereas PD keep getting better and more varied with each new album.
Also Death Grips just released a new song.
Well, an unreleased Money Store song.

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood's The Magic Door
New Corin Tucker album out on the 18th.

I'd rather a Sleater-Kinney reunion but this'll do I guess.
[sp]The new Blues Explosion is gonna be better, called it now.[/sp]
[editline]12th September 2012[/editline]
Oh wow, just realized that I Bet On Sky, Meat + Bone and Kill My Blues are all coming out on the same day. Kinda weird.
listened to the new Animal Collective.
Quite liked it actually. Reminds me of the Strawberry Jam record even though I wasn't feeling that record... but this one is like a mix of that craziness with a few instances of that electronic euphoria.
That being said... it's nowhere near as good as some of the euphoric records I've heard this year, for example:

I've never really been big on AnCo other than their debut album and a couple of other songs, but the new album seems pretty promising after giving some of the tracks a listen. I can see it being the album that finally gets me properly into the band.
[editline]asdfasdf[/editline]
Oh and on-topic, as far as debut releases go, Cape Farewell's first EP is probably the best this year.
Weird how i found a pretty much unknown group called "Ondatropica", then it gets reviewed by Anthony Fantano a few days later..

If people liked Buena Vista Social Club, very worth checking out.
it's funny how you listen to a lot of artists that i sell cd's of at the record store i work at. we sell a lot of stuff that you might like AKz.

where is your shop?
Anyone else digging the new Grizzly Bear? I never quite "got" their other stuff, but man, this hit me like a brick wall right on first listen. Potential AOTY for me.
where is your shop?
the netherlands AKz.

I fucking love it
Speaking In Rounds is probably my favorite, but I don't think there's a song on it that I dislike. It's got a really cool style.
honestly i really hate the cover to that new dylan album.
the music was pretty great though, his voice aged brilliantly.
my ms paint version is best

it's like listening to gravel mixed with treacle.
is this actually good? I haven't seen any reviews other than Rolling Stone's and RS has a hard-on for anything Dylan and Lou Reed.

I hate to agree with Rolling Stone but it's actually fairly good
At the very minimum I can say it's easily worth a listen
Ash Borer's new album is pretty good. Best BM release of 2012 so far.

Depends whether you liked other newer Dylan stuff.
Time out of Mind is good.
[editline]18th September 2012[/editline]
to be honest, I actually really like Pitchfork's review of it, even though it didn't think it was great.
its p. much a tom waits album but except its dylan
only the dylan could do Scarlet Town, but Pay In Blood is very Waits.

The best thing I could think of to call this is Post-Punk/Noise/Industrial or something. Very awesome stuff never the less.
listening to the new Swans... seriously woah.
It obviously won't be for everyone, but this goes really well with my coffee. :)
tried to enjoy the new flying lotus but i couldn't finish it
gatta try again soon
oh jeez, I had this in my library for so long and didn't realise. :(
it has some guest appearances by awesome people too, e.g. Akron/Family‎
[editline]24th September 2012[/editline]
woah that was 2 hours of pure mind-bending power. Most invigorating double album I've heard this year.
is this your first swans album AKz? if you want more stuff like it listen to my father will guide me up a rope and the great annihilator, you'd probably like those the most out of their entire discography.
maybe the love will tear you apart EP too.
