I can't believe I forgot about the Ash Borer full-length in August. I'm highly looking forward to that.
really enjoying BBNG2.
A new era of Jazz Fusion Hip Hop has arrived.
BBNG is seriously fucking amazing holy shit.
Already in places people are pissed off and calling it hipster.
Those guys need to fix their brains and realise that it was exactly what happened in the 70s. Everyone in the jazz community was probably in panic at how much jazz was changing.
In our present, we have imbeciles calling things they don't like either "artsy" or "hipster".
Is Jazz changing? I just really like the music.

Changes all the time, but this is only one album.

Officially a fangirl.
First soul record I've listened to this year:

Pure awesome.
That's the first Robert Glasper I listened to. It's a pretty fun album.
well it's not full on soul, more jazz than anything else.
[editline]6th April 2012[/editline]
in parts hip hop too.
[editline]6th April 2012[/editline]
neo-soul-jazz fusion
Yeah it's a blend of cool stuff.
Not up to date on much of contemporary music, but anything by Philip Sayce is worth a listen. Released a new album in February. Still haven't picked it up though.

Not sure if grooveshark is fair game on FP, but whatever here's a fucking great song by him http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Little+Miss+America/3gX2hu?src=5

New mewithoutYou album coming out soon, its called Ten Stories. I don't think I know anybody here who listens to them strangely enough.

Not entirely sure but I think this defines pretentious? I could be wrong?
I'm pretty underwhelmed by it.
It's okay. It definitely sounds better than the first, but in no way does it do something really fresh as people say.

huh, I tried listening to brother, sister about 2 weeks ago
my brother's a fan I think, may as well look into this
I like Catch For Us The Foxes a bit more, its more aggressive. I would recommend checking that out but Brother, Sister seems to be a favorite for most people. What did you think of it?
I understand that Daft Punk is releasing a new album soon featuring a collaboration with Panda Bear.
A lot of really great metal acts have released or are releasing albums this year; Spawn of Possession, Jeff Loomis, Nile, Cannibal Corpse (new album is a bit iffy), Veil of Maya, and a few more bands I don't really listen to.

Holy shit, don't even joke about that.
[editline]8th April 2012[/editline]
I mean that in the sense that I want it to happen.
I have doubts that would ever happen. It doesn't even make sense. :-)
Ufomammut's two new albums.

Things I'm looking forward to (so far) this year:
Jack White's Blunderbuss which drops sometime near the end of this month....
On May 15th:
Tenacious D's Rize of the Fenix
Slaughterhouse's debut album, Welcome to: Our House
On May 22nd
Slash + Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, Apocalyptic Love
John Mayer's new album, Born and Raised
And, newly announced, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood's debut, Big Moon Ritual which will be coming on June 5th, and then in September, Chris is releasing a companion album called The Magic Door.
Absolutely stoked for this year, not to mention the TBAs. i.e. Aerosmith, Dre's Detox, etc.

Spoek Mathambo - Father Creeper
Pretty damn good experimental hip-hop/electronic/ethnic for the year. It's my first listen so I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but it's intense.

One of my favourite hip hop records of the year so far.
