The best reason to play the F.E.A.R. expansions is that it has the gameplay of F.E.A.R. Don't need many reasons other than that.

Fear had some great bugs. I remember the first time I had the encounter with Alma where she blasts you with fire and you fly up and out a window, I instinctively turned around and ran for the hallway and actually made it. You still get hit with the fire blast but you can't get knocked out the window so it just freezes you against the wall until you reload.
FEAR's AI was an absolute benchmark for story-driven FPS games. It basically pioneered AI reacting to player actions, with enemies running for cover or rushing you when you've run out of ammo and need to reload. They also move physics props around to create better cover. One of the most satisfying games to play in FPS history, in my opinion. Did pretty much everything right. [editline]17th October 2016[/editline] Even Half-Life 2's AI, while good at shooting, didn't react nearly as realistically as FEAR's did. Granted it came out a year later, but really forwarded the cause.
