So you've been in a relationship for the last 5 years? How do you feel now being single again? I assume you havent lived much of the single life? [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] ninjad
As shitty as it sounds, I'm honestly in a good mood right now. There's so much stuff that I thought I'd never be able to do because of the relationship I was in. It feels really liberating to know I can do whatever I want. I'm also really lucky that I'm at a point in my life where I can pick up and move anywhere if I choose to. I'm finishing my associate's degree over the summer and probably wouldn't have an issue transferring to a university in another state. I might as well take the opportunity to move, or at least explore a bit, while I have the chance. I think the breakup is definitely going to hit me once I stop trying to preoccupy myself (I've been on my feet cleaning my apartment for most of the past 3 hours), but right now I'm managing to look on the bright side of this. [editline]2nd April 2014[/editline]
I'm sorry about your boyfriend, but if you go to Florida, we can be friends. :)
Haha, I'll think about it! I'm visiting a few friends in Chicago in June, so I was hoping to scout out the city a bit and see if it seems like an interesting place to live.
Chicago is amazing. I visit my dad there very frequently. You won't want to leave!
Boyfriend and I just broke up. Trying very hard not to vomit right now.
Let's share a bucket then... I hope you can find a way to work through things, it's a battle. It's good that you're in a happier mood for the time being. I know (as you do) that it probably won't last, but I'm finding that when you feel good in times like these, you just have to run with it.
if we're gonna talk about chicago let me just say it's awesome as hell, i was born and grew up there so much cool shit to do. don't listen to all the "oh don't go to chicago you'll get shot!" stuff, as long as you stay away from shitty parts like englewood you'll be fine. definitely visit the magnificent mile if you go there [editline]2nd April 2014[/editline] and navy pier. definitely navy pier
Can always visit Canada eh, eh? Just wait a few months for it to warm up :v: New Brunswick is a pretty place <3
Thanks for all the support, you guys. I appreciate it. Chicago seems like it would logically be a great place for me to go - I have a couple friends there. My two closest friends both live in Illinois (though one of them is a couple hours away from Chicago), as well as an online friend of mine. I'm planning to stay there for 5 days over the summer, so hopefully I can spend most of that time exploring the area. I'd love to travel a bit while I have the chance. I've always wanted to visit Canada, maybe I'll get around to it sooner or later. It's pretty fun knowing that in a few months I could pick up and move wherever.
It sounds like you're a fan of the colder climates yeah? I'd give anything to live somewhere snowy and cold :(
It sounds like you're a fan of the colder climates yeah? I'd give anything to live somewhere snowy and cold :(
Actually, I'm the opposite - I like warmer climates because I get nasty headaches in cold or windy weather. I don't mind visiting places with colder climates, though.
It sounds like you're a fan of the colder climates yeah? I'd give anything to live somewhere snowy and cold :(
Try out New Jersey. We get a pretty good sample of every season
Also, two of my friends who both are attracted to me are fighting over me right now. Staying single is going to take effort, apparently.
My favorite thing about Chicago is that even though it's an AMAZING city, it's not oppressively expensive to live there. It's more expensive than the suburbs, to be sure, but the crippling winters lower the appeal of the city quite a bit, making rent pretty darn reasonable on the whole, especially when you consider that you don't need a car to live there because of the excellent public transportation, which should save you quite a bit on gas, car payments, and insurance payments. Culturally, I love it. The winters are absolutely brutal, but because of how bad they are, when spring rolls around? The city goes into overdrive. Street festivals every day of the week, all summer long. On weekends, you can find four or five. Just pick a random direction and start walking, and you'll find people celebrating. [editline]2nd April 2014[/editline] It's my favorite city, during the Summer months! But it can go right to hell the other 6 months of the year.
Well geez guys, come to Australia. We don't know what snow is and we live a warm, slow life most of the time. I just want a change some day...
all of this talk about chicago makes me sad that i can't go to lollapalooza this year :( i was so hyped to go and then i overslept the day tickets went on sale and they sold out in like an hour...
Alright guys here's a prompt for you: I have a neighbor who I sort of know, but don't see all that often. I suppose you could say we're on friendly terms but we don't know each other all that much. Would it be bad to go to her door and ask her out for a walk?
Small update on this. Went and did this and it worked out really well. We walked for maybe about 45 minutes and had some great chats all the way; She said we should do it again sometime. I'm not gonna tell her I stepped on her dog while heading to her door, though.
If you ever feel bummed when you get dumped make some music. Its what I do. Turns out it helps a shit ton here i made this today
It sounds like you're a fan of the colder climates yeah? I'd give anything to live somewhere snowy and cold :(
have you ever had to wipe your windows clean of snow, go to the other side and do the same only to come back to find the side that you cleaned had been covered in snow again you never want to [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] or drive without rear windshield wipers it is horrible [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] last year we didn't have spring lol snowed in may then went straight to june [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] i stopped at a red light once and then my side windows were covered in snow cars need wipers on all sides :(
Everyone who lives in snow always complains that I would hate it. But look at it this way, there are equally as many negatives towards abundant heat too. I've lived in heat my whole life, I want cold, I want snow. Do those things annoy me? Not in the slightest :)
:v i hate abundant heat as much as i hate abundant snow [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] though you'd probably love snow just not driving in snow [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] i love snow when it doesn't hinder me
Haha true, driving in the snow is clearly a nightmare. Personally, I would love to walk everywhere in it. I'm the kind of guy who goes out for walks in the rain because I love the rain so much. Walking in a snowstorm? Heaven!
My roommate just told me he's uncomfortable with the idea of me continuing to live here without my ex. Just went from feeling optimistic to threatened very quickly. I guess moving isn't just an option to consider anymore. [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] He just came to my door and very directly told me I need to get out ASAP. I don't know what to do. [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] Now I have to wait until 7PM to see if my ex can convince him to let me stay. I can't leave the area for the next 2 months until I finish my classes. 15 hours to wait to find out whether I'm homeless or not...
What why? Thats his probem, he should just deal with it?
I (18, male) kind of like a girl (16) which goes to my school. We talk a little bit in school, but we rarely see each other in school (schedules). Recently (2 weeks ago) I asked for her number. But I haven't texted her that much because I find texts usually get pretty boring. Anyway, the main point is that she actually gave her number to me. Now the thing is that when we do talk in school, it generally feels very good. I generally find many similarities between us and I feel what I think is romantic interest from my side. Now I'm not sure, I'm not that experienced with love and stuff. How do I even learn how it feels like? :v: Anyway, do you guys think I should ask her out? What should I suggest we do?
Don't fucking do it.
Life might take a turn for the better, sending in my application to Ubisoft as I have a very high-ranked contact there (Guy's rich and travelling across the world for Ubisoft now), hoping to get in as I'd start at 21$/h and I'd be in the line of work I always wanted to be in. It's mostly a big deal for me because I'm a poor sod with no education past high school except for a technical as I didn't have the money for university so if everything goes well, I'll be working at a nice place instead of wasting away in a shitty shop. Here's me hoping.

Are you on the lease? If you're renting the room "under the table" as a friend, there's not much you can do if he wants you gone, but if you have any documentation, he has to give thirty days' notice. Why he wouldn't anyway is beyond me, because it's common fuckin' courtesy to at least give you some time to find alternate accommodations.
I don't know how you can live with someone then just turf them out like that
I don't know how you can live with someone then just turf them out like that
I've thought about this extensively and will offer a few plausible explanations 1) She might remind him of somebody that he fears or has a grudge with, possibly an ex-girlfriend, his mother, a former teacher, Hillary Clinton etc. This would imply that her ex might have been offering him valuable emotional support in order for him to be able to face the demons he sees in her; maybe by text message or soothing bedtime whispers 2) He might see her as unlucky, maybe the day she moved in he stubbed his toe really hard or went on a 10 game losing streak in Dota 2 3) It's possible that her success in life serves as a constant reminder of his own miserable failings and he wants her out of the picture so that nobody can remind him of the sad life he leads and the shallow grave he will one day lie in, bereft of any companionship or anyone who cares about him 4) It's a conspiracy: he wants her out because he needs to use her room as the staging ground for the next epidemic of nationwide false-flag operations, or maybe he needs her room to hide the missing passengers of flight 370 as well as D. B. Cooper. 5) He wants her out for her own safety. He's deeply in debt with mafia affiliated loan sharks and he knows it's only a matter of time before they come in and cut his pinkies off. He's afraid they might hurt her but doesn't want to cause her alarm so he disguises the danger by acting like a shitty roommate.
You can't expect to get a job where you are paid 21 dollars for hour without any other education than high school.
Still no pain in trying as I have this high ranked guy ready to get me in regardless of my education, I wouldn't have considered it if I didn't have that kind of helping hand. Thanks for being a huge buzzkill though, I'm well aware that I have worthless education and trust me, I don't feel good about it, having nothing but high school and a technical at 22 years ols. However it's all I could get with my financial situation, I didn't have the luxury to jump straight from high school to College/University.
