I'm majoring in psychology... looking forward to never meeting men in a college class again.
I'll add your name to the waitlist
dat confidence, good job. Also mav didn't look like a chav tbh, he was just muscular and had a few tattoos. [editline]15th October 2014[/editline]
I'm majoring in psychology... looking forward to never meeting men in a college class again.
I'm in mechanical engineering, AKA sausagefest degree... 20 girls in a class of 150.
I'm going into Computer Science and there are a bunch of sweaty nerds here too. Just find /some/ way to meet people outside of class and you're good to go.

are you even aware of what a chav is? having a zyzz tattoo doesn't make you one lol. you might as well say he looks like a white power skinhead whilst we're at it. I'll admit he had his faults, but jumping on the mav-hate bandwagon is a bit stupid imo.
I'm in history so I get a good gender mix in my classes. Except now my classes are small and I tend to already know half the people in my classes because of the size so classes have become a useless place for me to meet people now. [editline]15th October 2014[/editline] One of my friends from high school is a computer science major and he has a girlfriend so I'm really doing something wrong here

Maverick was a genuine asshole, and his few cases of actually being right are balanced out by the rest of what he did.
In the same boat as everyone else with cs. I was just talking with one of my professors about this too. He said, "When talking with non-technical people make sure to be brief and concise. No one wants to know how the sausage is made." Also, keep your Dota 2 stats to yourself, because you want girls to love you for you, and not for your MMR.

[editline]15th October 2014[/editline] You can meet people outside of class, it's how I know 90% of the people I talk to.
i just tell people i'm a copy editor nothing gets girls moist like proofreading as a hobby
I'm in graphic design where, mysteriously, my classes are 95% female but I've only worked with male graphic designers during my multiple internships. Of course I would never date any of them. Female art majors at my school are generally unattractive, and I wouldn't want to be in a long term relationship with someone who is also in the same, competitive job field.

Most digital art stuff, its mostly women going in, but its all men higher up in the field. In the mean time and unrelated, I think i've given up for the time being on doing an art thing and am going to take the same program my bf has at the college here because it sounds really interesting (and job applicable woooo). So I'll be going into CS as well, like half of Facepunch :v:

The majority of girls who are art majors at my university are cute as fuck.
no don't you understand they denied his advances so they're clearly just hags why can't anyone accept me for who i am and also i require they be at least a 9 because even i have standards come on
I find it incredibly difficult to meet people outside of class. [editline]15th October 2014[/editline] muh merge
Why not ask your friend for assistance if your in the same area? Great way to meet new people is through people you already know.
It's super easy meeting people out of class if you join clubs and societies. I'm going along to a boardgame night event and I'm gonna make hella friends hella.
It's super easy meeting people out of class if you join clubs and societies. Like I said, I'm just going to accept that I'm most likely not going to have a girlfriend in university even though almost all of my guy friends do and that's depressing as fuck. I mean hell, even if I met a girl who I thought was literally perfect in every way and she thought the same about me, I'd still have no idea what to do.

Aren't there inclusive on-campus parties organized at your uni? Or other events? Also, unless every one of your friends is in the same case as you, perhaps you can hang around some of their friends with them? That way you'll get to know more people, and so on. Besides, at least you've got a healthy gender repartition in your uni. Here we're about 82% male, it's horrible. Anybody who ends up being with a girl is regarded as a god :v:

I went to one in my first year with some friends, felt uncomfortable as fuck and left after like half an hour to go back to my dorm and game for the rest of the night. There's no other events that I'm aware of.
Most good parties are those with alcohol tbh
Most good parties are those with alcohol tbh
Don't campus parties offer some? Usually here there's a student-run bar which sells beer and cider among other things.
Well I can imagine if you are underage, they won't give you any, which would be the point of going to a party not hosted by the school. [editline]15th October 2014[/editline] Catch22 is that you need to know someone to go to an off-campus party.
dude fucking programming degrees I empathise so hard why did we choose this path
I'm going Software Engineering next year...it should be fine, right?...

[editline]15th October 2014[/editline] Also yeah I forgot in America they let you drive before they let you drink.
Most good parties are those with alcohol tbh
They were parties with alcohol. You had to be over 18 to go to them. I'm not a loser who won't drink at all but I don't drink to get drunk so this kind of stuff is infinitely less enjoyable to me. But apparently that's all anyone in my age group wants to do so I'm not sure how else I'm supposed to meet people who aren't into the whole getting drunk every weekend thing like me.
I'm going Software Engineering next year...it should be fine, right?...
define "fine"
I'm going Software Engineering next year...it should be fine, right?...
you're as fucked as the rest of us mate Talking of making friends in degrees, I initially enrolled in a double computer science/arts degree so that I could make some friends in my arts degrees. I'm actually okay at making friends so I thought it would work out. I majored in music. Music students, as it turns out, are WORSE than programming students. holy shit I could not catch a break then I found one guy in CS who I could speak to. He said he used to play football so I thought he would be normal. He lifts and isn't a sweaty nerd. I met my current girlfriend through him and a big group formed around us. Now it turns out he's an alcoholic christ [editline]16th October 2014[/editline] and I initially was enrolled in a film degree. Total culture shock [editline]16th October 2014[/editline]
They were parties with alcohol. You had to be over 18 to go to them. Not even criticising, I'm not into drinking til I puke and those sort of parties at all, (the other night I ended up on a dancefloor with EDM playing and everyone being all dancey and I almost had a fucking panic attack because of the crowds and the not-fun I was having) but throw me a slightly cool small bar with some tables to sit down and talk at and I'll go all night
The fuck planet do you live on? The majority of girls who are art majors at my university are cute as fuck.
Sorry, I didn't mean to generalize that far. No, I was only referring to my school. And it's a fairly small school. Of course it's not just that. I do enjoy coding and playing with what interactive media has to offer.

But no such thing exists here and I'd have no friends to go with anyway.
