I feel like you're the guy who noone is comfortable around because if they were to say they actually legitimately liked one of the more popular albums by an artist, or actually liked an album that other people liked, like the Midori album, you'd mouth them off for liking something other people like Who gives a fuck why people listen to music why not just accept that they do and enjoy what they say they enjoy instead of getting all weird about how they found out about it/why they decided to pick it up
the reason people listen to music is more important than the music itself
that's pretty much objectively wrong
but mcr died minutes silence for mcr
A minute's applause for managing to turn their fans into even bigger angsty teens. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline]
lol loser like the stuff you like, whatever. no sane person is gonna care about what and what you don't like.
''u don't like peruvian throat singing?? wow are u even a listener of fine arts?'' said no-one ever
that's pretty much objectively wrong
well that's easy to say [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250175&p=39984613&viewfull=1#post39984613 [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] ^^^ why you are "objectively" wrong [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] ironically in that thread you say you agree with me so w/e
well that's easy to say [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250175&p=39984613&viewfull=1#post39984613
nah i agree with this vedi for sure not to mention theres a big group of people (i cant help but lump myself into this because im pretentious) who spend a lot of time and effort into finding music and we cant help but get annoyed when people dismiss that and instead go for a dangling carrot from someone whos just trying to manipulate people into listening to them thats the problem i find with a lot of bands who evangelise their music and try to turn into a social networking institution, its a form of careering that comes at the cost of artists who work very hard to make music and whos only "flaw" is being too different like were the beatles actually good or do we simply think they are good because we accept the condition of them being good as terms for living in our culture, and did that come at the cost of black artists who the beatles were ripping off? books could be written on how much harm was caused and how much was possibly prevented by the beatles I don't care on a personal level what any single person does because i dont know the specific details, but the fact is in the post I linked to there I make my stance very clear, that's why I care. Because people slave over their art, and fuckers, just the god damn worst people in the world, marginalize that artist's entire career for the sake of being able to say they've listened to the one album by a band that people care about. that's bullshit.
being a tastemaker has become its own institution on the internet. pitchfork is make-or-break for an artist now i went to a concert the other day and the artist couldn't get gigs because of a negative pitchfork review
like this: its just sad [editline]30th March 2013[/editline]
being a tastemaker has become its own institution on the internet. pitchfork is make-or-break for an artist now i went to a concert the other day and the artist couldn't get gigs because of a negative pitchfork review
undeniably. So many awful bands break, so many good bands fall. THANKS, "BROOKLYN VEGAN." rofl the funny part, to me, is when they push the rare actual talented artist fans just don't attach. they've been pushing Titus Andronicus for years but srsly they still have a hard time pulling crowds.

SXSW too. it's so funny. it was hilarious how many people I know personally were tricked by its atmosphere and by these bullshit salesmen there, feeling like they really are a part of something when in reality they are being prepped for exploitation. vicious circle. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline]
What if I mount him, would that work too?
give it a shot
nah i agree with this vedi for sure not to mention theres a big group of people (i cant help but lump myself into this because im pretentious) who spend a lot of time and effort into finding music and we cant help but get annoyed when people dismiss that and instead go for a dangling carrot from someone whos just trying to manipulate people into listening to them thats the problem i find with a lot of bands who evangelise their music and try to turn into a social networking institution, its a form of careering that comes at the cost of artists who work very hard to make music and whos only "flaw" is being too different like were the beatles actually good or do we simply think they are good because we accept the condition of them being good as terms for living in our culture, and did that come at the cost of black artists who the beatles were ripping off? But I don't think there's ever really been an era of music where a person's opinion hasn't been affected by what other people think so I think it's unfair to demonise anyone who likes an album they found on pitchfork just because they found it on pitchfork I hope this changes but I honestly don't think it could, it's pretty much ingrained - which is even stupider these days when the majority of reviews written on review sites are done by volunteers now who don't have any sort of authority of opinion but are still trusted for being in a magazine or publication
i went to a concert the other day and the artist couldn't get gigs because of a negative pitchfork review
This happens? What the flying fuck.

It is NOT hard to find music on your own, to figure out what you like and find more of it, rather than read "music news" to find what you're "supposed to be" listening to and who you're "supposed to" care about. There's nothing wrong with reading a news site like that now and then, or reading someone else's review, or their opinion even, but when your taste is informed by it so heavily and you never question the information presented, or an amalgamation of similar sites, there is a major issue. To be honest, I go as far as to say giving ANY credence/attention to major web publications like that is an issue, but whatever. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] lol
but that's exactly what I said in the last fm thread when I was saying that its fine to read them so long as you don't inform your entire opinion on it and you said that was retarded?
no, it's not what you said. I do NOT think it is okay to give any credence to those sites but if you must what the fuck am I gonna do about it other than at least ask you be critical about it.
dont have to tell them to be critical of it, taking it with a grain of salt is better. being critical of every major news publication is dumb because they're not all the same
music is pretty cool huh
no, it's not what you said. I do NOT think it is okay to give any credence to those sites but if you must what the fuck am I gonna do about it other than at least ask you be critical about it.
Yes it was, actually. It's completely what I said. I'm surprised you aren't accepting that - The fact that i've been agreeing with you is kind of why I'm getting tetchy about the way you're responding. Then another post i made in that thread was saying that people need to be more critical of the media they take in. Which is what you're saying here unless I'm mistaken? And you still said it was retarded, which is just childish, from what I know of you I would expect a lot better
I liked the part where they were arguing about music.
You could pirate everything so everyone loses
ugh whatever there's no point in even bothering Alien 4 is on and I can't be bothered anymore so let's talk normal people music topics
Prometheus is my favorite alien movie
Alien 4 is silly It was written by joss whedon who is meant to be good at sci fi but its just not that good. Kind of cheesy and the scares weren't worth it
Alien is my favorite alien movie about aliens
jee all this talk about music politics is making me hungry. :) i think i'll have some spicy pasta with some doom jazz. that's the good stuff
I'm not a big fan of most pastas.
I am going to eat lamb and cheese
pizza is the greatest food known to man especially homemade pizza
music is pretty cool huh
objectively wrong kill urself ect
