maybe you should read something more worthwhile
maybe you should realise not everyones tastes are the same.
The film director?
Fucking dyslexia, I meant George Orwell. Don't ask me how I got them confused. I do like Orson Welles, though.
maybe you should realise not everyones tastes are the same.
Ah, the "that's your opinion" argument.
i know, but i mean, her philosiphy, when i started reading about her i began thinking about how much i allready believed.
sure maybe if your philosophy is "fuck the poor" what is your reaction to this
no, he's another author. he wrote animal farm, and 1984.
Orson Welles is a film director. Eric Arthur Blair is the writer of Animal Farm and 1984. jesus fucking christ this is a literary nightmare
nevermind then, i shouldn't have come to facepunch to discuss this.
no you just shouldn't have let me into the thread
sure maybe if your philosophy is "fuck the poor" what is your reaction to this
Listen, you are a pretty cool guy, but get the hell out. It's obvious you haven't read anything from Ayn Rand, and by the marking of that statement, you have no idea what Objectivism is about either. Get educated, then come back and troll.
Orson Welles is a film director. Eric Arthur Blair is the writer of Animal Farm and 1984. jesus fucking christ this is a literary nightmare
i have no idea anymore. whoever wrote it, he's not bad.
:ughh:
Well Ayn Rand was heavily involved in social politics and morality. So what?
I was being satirical. Also, Pvt. Ryan, I thought I'd let you know that I have dreams about killing you and deleting your account. Along with that Ryan2406 or something and that Bryanrocks fellow. Damn you all! Nothing personal of course.
OP is an asshole who only reads Ayn as a rite of passage and to make up for his severe lack of a personality and intellect.
OP is an asshole who only reads Ayn as a rite of passage and to make up for his severe lack of a personality and intellect.
baby now you just trollin
Orson Welles is a film director.
OP is an asshole who only reads Ayn as a rite of passage and to make up for his severe lack of a personality and intellect.
*sigh* troll.....
It's obvious he doesn't know anything about literature, he can't even remember what author wrote what. And he speaks of Ayn's books as if they're something you have to "ready" yourself to read. It's pathetic. Fountain Head is a book, not a triathlon.
You know what you should read instead of Ayn Rand? Anton Chekhov. Everyone needs more Anton Chekhov in their life. If everyone in the world just Anton Chekhov, the world would be a better place. Went back, read A Portrait..., still don't stand a chance. [editline]12:04AM[/editline]
It's hard to take an author seriously when thousands of artsy Starbucks dwellers drool over him/her. Also, how exactly is Ayn "weird?"
"Ayn" ain't no fuckin name I ever heard of.
no, he's another author. he wrote animal farm, and 1984.
That was George Orwell. [editline]11:06PM[/editline]
Actually animal farm was written by george orwell. Another good book.
George Orwell was Eric Arthur Blair's pseudonym. Blair and Orwell are the same person. [editline]11:07PM[/editline]
Orson Welles is a film director. Eric Arthur Blair is the writer of Animal Farm and 1984. jesus fucking christ this is a literary nightmare
dude it's facepunch what do you expect, honestly.
"Ayn" ain't no fuckin name I ever heard of.
Oh well. By the way, isn't Ulysses the book where some random character talks for 4 pages with absolutely no punctuation?
Shit sucks hardcore. I fucking hated that book. Get out while you still can.
Why was it bad?
I read myself halfway through "Atlas shrugged" before I realized the whole book was about three richpeople circle-jerking over their money and figuratively shitting on poor people and socialism. Seriously, it was like a porn-novel written for rightwing businessmen. All characters in that damned book was either extremely rich and ambitious or dumb and poor. I find Ayn Rand's style of writing and her opinions to be very one-dimensional.
objectivsm capitalisam societee do i kno ayn rand yet??
Oh well. By the way, isn't Ulysses the book where some random character talks for 4 pages with absolutely no punctuation?
I don't know but that could definitely be in there somewhere book is filled with stuff like that. It's both fascinating and horribly intimidating.

I'm sick of hearing this complaint that all Ayn Rand talks about is capitalism and socialism and rich people. That's only 1/16 of Ayn Rand. The problem is that people treat this as a political pamphlet. [editline]11:28PM[/editline]
You do sort of have to ready yourself to read Ulysses. I made this guy want to be banned. lol.
Orson Welles is a film director. Her books do involve rape on multiple occasions. I think Ayn Rand used her books to play out sick fantasies because she was an ugly woman. That said, Atlas Shrugged and The Foutainhead are pretty good books, whether you buy the politics of it or not, they are compelling enough to keep you reading through all their many many pages.
There's like, 60 page essays on how rape relates to the book, but whatever pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
