I fucking loved Stardust. I never heard about it until 2009 and I watched it on Film4 like two nights in a row. It's awesome. [editline]09:32PM[/editline] Also I'm going to post Eragon as a fantasy movie, can't remember if it's actually good though. I think it was worth watching it on Bluray at least.
The film was pretty underwhelming. If you want Eragon read the books. Because personally I think the Inheritance series is the best book series I've ever read. Not so much because of the writing (which is good but at points it has some to be desired), and not even because of the story. Obviously it was an impacting factor but I think that the world Christopher Paolini was just absolutely incredible.
Hmm, I never watched this movie but I'm pretty sure it's a Fantasy movie, it's "The Brothers Grimm". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0355295/
I fucking love that film, it's fantasy for the record.
Hawk the slayer
It's not bad. Not exceptional but not bad either. My biggest problem is Aslan really, as awesome as Liam Neeson is it's hard to take him seriously as Aslan, especially when the lion graphics are so bad. Now Prince Caspian was pretty bad. [editline]05:13PM[/editline] What the fuck am I thinking, The Never Ending Story man. Watch it. It's sequel is a bit of a fuck cake of shit, but it's a very beautifully made movie nonetheless. I'd say give that a shot too.
Came here just to post that, though i still love the sequel aswell, mostly because i always watched them both as a kid, never just one of them. And yeah there was some Narnia movies made in the late 80s i think it was, with puppets and the worst effects you will ever see, look them up if you want a laugh.
I'm surprised no one's mentioned Harry Potter yet. Probably not worth watching the movies if you've read the books, but they're not bad.
Would you guys consider Pirates of the Caribbean fantasy or adventure? They're pretty decent movies.

I don't know how people bitch about it, I think it's definitely A) the most faithful adaptation B) just overall the best of them so far. I also wonder how everyone loved Half-Blood Prince, it was a complete shitstorm and paled in comparison to Order of the Phoenix, even with pretty much 90% of the book cut out still led to a good film. Of course, the first two still get a good mention, but they feel kinda childish to me. That doesn't stop them from being good of course. Same for Goblet of Fire, though the acting kinda went down in there and I couldn't really stand Daniel Radcliffe in that one, he just felt like a faggot to me.
Because it was the least faithful adaptation. It was just a random collection of key scenes from the book strung together with no sense, and half heartedly constructed, pretty much raping my mental image of it. Every subsequent release pretty much followed the same recipe for failure. But Half Blood Prince wasn't just a good adaptation than finally got rid of the time constraint problem, it was also an amazingly well made film. Everybody has seen Harry Potter anyway.
Agreed The half blood prince was a very well made flim but Prisoner of Azkaban was the most true to the books
There is a movie called The Last Kingdom : The Dragon King about Seigfried...kinda like lotr...stars Kristanna Loken and even has Robert Pattinson in it
