The whole movie was kind of a mind fuck. I enjoyed it.
9/10
I thought that it was very well done, and the story was spectacular. I knew what the ending was around the time he had that second nightmare. It was still very cool.
While the idea of the ending was expected, I still loved it. I just find it extremely difficult to not love a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Been looking forward to this since i saw the preview in... august.
Wait, it's not a Ghost/horror movie?
Just came back from watching it like an hour ago, thought it was pretty cool. A lot of continuity errors, I don't mean the intentional ones either, but overall I thought it was a cool movie.
Loved it. Not the best of scorcese's films, but still better than most shit that comes out recently
So which of the 2 stories was the real one, was there a giant government conspiracy or was he really insane?

Really insane.
Fuck the irresistible urges I have to click each and every spoiler tag...
I guess I'm just going to watch the Crazies.
i thought it was crazy good (no pun intended)!
Really insane.
To the contrary though there was just as much evidence to it being a Government conspiracy because he asked to many questions. Every aspect that suggests he was insane also suggests that it was a conspiracy and they fucked up his mind.

I thought this might have been the case as well, but I was convinced that couldn't be true in the final scene, when you see that the institution is in perfect condition. If he wasn't insane, then that would have meant the tornado actually happened but the final scene proves otherwise.

Or it was an elaborate setup to trick him into believing it was a fantasy and they used cheap tricks to fuck with his mind.
Saw it a second time. Picked up on a lot of little details, like when Teddy asks that lady patient if Dr. Sheehan ever made a pass at her, and she looks at Chuck for a brief second and Chuck appears uncomfortable

It was a hurricane.

ooohhhh yeah. I forgot about that. Great movie though.
I think at the end he got the [sp]Lobotomy because he didn't want to live with the mental anguish of killing his wife so he simply pretended to have a relapse. That's why he said "Is it better to die a good man or live as a monster[/sp]
That's what I suspected.
It also showed the lighthouse right after he said that. But then, they were in the lighthouse with no evidence of a medical facility, so where did the lobotomy take place?
Just saw the movie last night. It was very good
Here's my take on what happened:
[sp]They were all after him from the beginning. Having a traumatic experience such as his wife dying, war, etc. were all good reasons they would choose him since he would be more susceptible. When they got to the gates and were asked to turn in weapons, Chuck had no idea how to unholster his pistol and had trouble with it, and Ted looked at him like what the hell. During interviews of the group or whatever, when Chuck got up from the table and walked away for a moment, the lady wrote run on his paper and wanted him to escape. She was in on this the whole time and it was a chance for her to tell him without Chuck seeing. The woman he meets in the cave IS Rachel Solando and not a figure of his imagination. Once he got to the lighthouse they did a massive mindfuck and switched everything around for him making it seem like it was all a lie. Towards the end he either joked about being delusional so he can have surgery and escape everything OR he really did have a relapse. Both are acceptable endings.[/sp]

I liked it, it makes you think....
and remember the Dedham Jail that they mention twice in the movie?
It's a reference to an old jail in the town I live, Dedham, MA :P
And the theater which I saw the movie at is in the same town, a few people were surprised when they mentioned Dedham.
I really enjoyed this movie.

My question is what was the point of that, if true?
[sp]They(the conspiracy) allow him to be Ted, investigating a disappearance. Then, at the end, they tell him there is no Ted and that he's Andrew. Then, they wait to see if he thinks he's Ted or Andrew.
Okay, which do they want? What are they expecting at the end? Did they 'win' or not?
And take that incident with Rachel in the cave for example. Did the conspiracy have Chuck lay down on those rocks in order to get Ted down there? If so why? To find Rachel's cave? Wouldn't it have been easier to let Ted spot Rachel sneaking into her cave? Why bring Chuck into it?[/sp]
I'm going to go see it next weekend. I have a man crush on DiCaprio and I read the book, so I think I'll enjoy myself.
Avatar fits
I really enjoyed this movie. The twist was great, and the setting was well-done.
This movie was amazing, I loved it.
Loved it. It maintained that special air through the entire film. It was very immerse.
Fucking loved every single minute of it!
Yeah, I especially loved the music. Some friends said they thought it was over the top but I really liked how it was done. chilling shit
How was this movie predictable
I wasn't expecting the final twist at all
that's not what I wanted to happen :(
[sp]The ending made it confusing... He got there by a boat, right? So actually he was sane...[/sp]

[sp]no, that didn't actually happen, he's delusional
he's crazy. in the end he was cured, but decided he would rather die as a person who didn't murder his wife, rather than live as a man who did, hence his last line[/sp]
