TotalBiscuit will now talk about nobody getting DOOM review copies for about 25 minutes

I saw this literally 1 hour after I pre-ordered.
Let's hope for the best.
actually no, you never see that in any megathread. there might be some circlejerking but theres people giving their honest reviews as well.
But theres also alot of people who will downplay / exacerbate problems and those vocal few can spark a bandwagon that would be driven by an agenda which seems like the general consensus. Its sometimes hard to seperate the bias responses from the legit ones especially around here. Facepunch is good to build a 'portfolio' as it were but not to be used alone.same with everywhere really.
Already been playing for a few hours.
Know the modern Shadow Warrior? This is basically that, but better in every form and with a Doom slap of paint.

how have you been playing? doesn't it release tomorrow
I really don't agree with the point he tried to make about how it was really good for the game to remove the beta's reviews from the Steam store, hiding the negative reviews.
Mainly because those reviews are unprofessional as all hell, and biased to fuck and back. Yes they wouldn't help the game, that IS true, but in this case, it would hurt the game unreasonably.
If we were talking about a game that we could be sure that it would be presented to us 100% the way we played it, then yes, the reviews would hold up. But this isn't the case, and on top of that, people gave it negative reviews because they are butthurt idiots who don't know what they want.
Taking those reviews seriously is like only listening to the points made by a mad man.

Timezones. Used a VPN like I did with Skyrim. Thank you future-traveling Aussies.
By the way, to knock out some people's dumb fears over SP:
- The maps are extremely non-linear and there's a lot worth exploring. Rarely does it lock you off from a prior section.
- Glory Kills or whatever they're called are optional balance wise (though they help on Nightmare) and you can turn off the colors when enemies are stumbled.
- You can basically ignore the plot, but what's there is interesting enough for a shooter.
- The weapon and armor upgrades play very little into the balance, simply getting weapon mods is far more important.
- Gameplay is entirely about movement. Enemies do lead and big ones have AoE, so circle-strafing isn't the safest bet.
- There are a lot of graphics/gameplay settings you can change to suit your taste. Turned off Motion Blur almost instantly.
- [sp]It's fun.[/sp]
Lmao lets go check the thread where you'd expect everyone to like it.
yes lets disregard the fact that people's minds are their own and not everyone is a bumbling idiot fanboy and completely devalue their opinions just because its in the thread for it
Lmao lets go check the thread where you'd expect everyone to like it.
I think you have us confused with the DICE or Star Citizen thread. You'll find the DooM thread to have plenty of cynical hardliners with pretty objective viewpoints.
Lmao lets go check the thread where you'd expect everyone to like it.
DOOM 4 was restarted once, gobbled up by Bethesda, had kingpin Romero leave, and a whole host of other shit.
A lot of us were actually expecting it to be garbage. MP Beta brought a little hope if you looked past the dumb pseudo-fanboys mewling that it wasn't a 1:1 copy of UT2k4 or Quake III Arena. The engine was solid enough, assets were there, etc. (Alternatively phrased: Ex-Halo team creates Halo-esq Arena shooter component, world in shock.)
If you kept on top of the info that was coming out, leaks, etc - it was easy to see that it was a good enough game. Or at least had the potential to be. Sure, there's dumb multiplayer DLC, but the MP will be dead in like, a year, so who cares? SP is where it's at, and surprisingly, it's really fuckin' good.
Also there's Snapmap, which I've played a little with. It's kinda like Forge meets Timesplitter 2's map tools, but with a little more umph. It's cute. Mario Maker for Doom.

Don't know why this guy is getting dumb'd. Every time I ever mentioned any bit of wearyness about a new game in its respective thread, I got shot down like a motherfucker.
This was included in the fucking Sim City thread.
Really? Go look at the fallout thread when 4 came out.
It isn't much different tbh.

Because it doesn't apply to this thread, or the ME thread, or the KF thread, or the TES thread. Not every thread is a bandwagon, not every poster is a frothing holier than thou fanboy. Sure it's a staple but it isn't an absolute.
As posted in the DOOM thread. Here's what it looks like when played by someone used to mouse and kb.

Actually looks pretty good.
Jesus, what is that mouse sensitivity?
It has no personality and a progression system, I think I'll pass.
As someone who's been playing the campaign for the last few hours, you're passing on something really fucking good.
REALLY fucking good.
Having played the beta and uninstalled it out of boredom, the game is really, really good.
Jesus, what is that mouse sensitivity?
Sensitivity seems fine to me but his FOV is a little bit too high for my tastes.
I spent an hour with it. That was enough for me.
It's not Doom
It's not Quake
It's not Halo
It's not CoD
whatever it is, it's not fun
Youre a tosspot
I guess people don't remember Wolf TNO also had a review embargo.
An embargo isn't the same as not giving out review copies, at all.
looks better than I expected, but it seems piss easy. I know the dude died at the end but it never seemed like he was in danger, he barely got hit.
you can play on the harder difficulties. the enemies are the same HP but you have less effective health.
you can play on the harder difficulties. the enemies are the same HP but you have less effective health.
Are there more enemies on higher difficulty like in Serious Sam games ?
I played the singpleayer today... it's pretty good actually.
Beautiful looking, very polished but not perfect.
It's very Doom-ish but at the same time it does feel different.
It's rather slow, especially compared to older FPS games, I'd really like have an option to sprint somehow or be 30% faster in general.
The weapons really lack a punch - I mean sure they do damage and enemies die in gory ways but it feels some knockback and punch, they all feel like they cut trough warm butter. :v:
But other than that, I am really happy so far with the game, it's definitely worth for singleplayer.

The speed takes off once you have double jump.
what is bias
YOU are biased. You can't seem to understand that everyone in the Doom thread used to be fucking cynical at first.
YOU are biased. You can't seem to understand that everyone in the Doom thread used to be fucking cynical at first.
Can confirm this, I was one of the cynical ones myself, I had some serious doubts over the emphasis on the glory kills and the low ammo caps. Then they made the glory kills speedy as all hell and ammo is plentiful and the cap can be raised.
Well, that and the guns and combat in general are really good. The map design is pretty great too.
It has no personality and a progression system, I think I'll pass.
As someone who's been playing the campaign for the past two days, you fucked up. Big time.
YOU are biased. You can't seem to understand that everyone in the Doom thread used to be fucking cynical at first.
Up until 2 weeks until release the fact that Doom was gonna suck was a foregone conclusion in that thread. The multiplayer open beta certainly didn't help. Anyone who thinks that a thread for a game means everyone is going to be a fanboy for that game should actually follow the thread.

I was talking about the multiplayer, which is developed by different people to the campaign.
