• Skateboarding 70 MPH Down a Hill
These aren't your average walmart skateboard.
Funny you should say that. My friend and I skated to school once and I live on a huge hill. I ride a Darkstar board and my friend borrowed a shitty Walmart board from 2003 that was just laying in my garage. When we got to the hill and started riding down 2 of the bolts fell out of his trucks and when we got to the bottom the board kinda fell apart.
Thought so.. I can't imagine someone riding a longboard at about 70 MPH while holding a camera. However you can use a longboard when filming skateboarding scenes! :eng101:
In the video I posted above, the two dudes are passing the camera back and forth.
Goddamn, my palms are sweatin up a storm after watching that. Falling off that speed man, your skin would just get ripped off, I'd at least be wearing a motorbike jacket.
you know that sensation you get when you're at the top of something really high and your feet start tingling to tell you FUCKING STOP it's fucking painful watching this
I didn't know other people got this - I assumed it was bad circulation + the stress of nearly slipping and falling.
imagine [t]http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/slides/photos/003/013/903/hi-res-150494304_crop_north.jpg?w=630&h=420&q=75[/t] at 70+ mph on solid street now imagine endless PAIN
I didn't know other people got this - I assumed it was bad circulation + the stress of nearly slipping and falling.
Nope, a lot of people do. Also i want to imagine the thoughts of the cars he's going by, seeing a longboarder whizz by at probably half again or double the speed they are. [editline] asdgfag [/editline] Also if that one skeeves you out, this one is even worse

It would be cool if someone did this with a wing suit on. it looks like you could wear one in the stance they hold without too much drag. then you just jump off and glide before pulling a chute. idk, I think I'm greatly overestimating wingsuits. Maybe they jump off at a switchback and glide down a cliff. I think I need to write a letter to red bull.

I'll take the pavement over a nosedive into rocks at 95mph and a small possibility of the chute even doing anything depending on altitude

In any other position, such as him leaning down to help his turn with his hand, would open the wing and send him spiraling into the ground.

I dont know if it exists to be honest. you would need enough downhill to gain decent speed. The hillside would need to be steeper than the glide ratio of the wing suit for long enough for you to gain the altitude needed to safely deploy a parachute. To top it all off it would need to be a pretty much treeless area.
Nope nope nope
Yeah that one made me cringe.
In the video I posted above, the two dudes are passing the camera back and forth.
Wow! So it seems indeed, that's pretty extreme.
You guys and your god damn videos. I cringed so hard I think my balls just got 5 kilometers longer.
These guys only climbed that tower once, imagine how many times the constructive workers have to go up there.
To the top of the crane? Probably never. And if they did, they'd have a harness on.
I love longboarding but I've broken myself at closer to 20mph. Don't think I could cope with 70.

That looks fun as hell lol. That was super impressive seeing him skid off that extra speed by maneuvering his entire board sideways. I have enough issue as it is doing a proper T-Stop on inline skates...

Just goes to show how dangerous this activity is, even the experts can make a mistake and pay with their lives. Tribute video I found while searching for Dean Potter:

I fell on a longboard I bought in Stockholm Sweden going like 30-35 mph I'd say; I had found this huge hill and I couldn't resist the attempt. I started regretting it when I was going faster than I'd ever gone on it before and couldn't do any braking with my shoe at that point. The terror came to me when I started getting speed wobble from not being used to riding at that speed, the speed wobble got worse and it was to the point where I had to make the choice to jump off my board or get even more injured; the wobble pretty much forced me off too, and I fell straight on my left hip with my hands taking most of the impact on asphalt. I swear I fell in front of a few guys who thought I was fucking dead after that ahah. But I just jumped right back on my board and boarded away trying to act like nothing happened. After like 10min went by the shock went away and holy shit screw losing a lot of skin on your hands. One of the most annoying injuries I've gotten.
Christ, I can't even go downhill on my board without eating shit and ruining my left leg, I'd be scared shitless going 70mph on a longboard. But holy fuck if that didn't look fun as hell to do either.
