You could get a Hitler youth knife, although it may be iffy to show to other people because it has a swastika on the handle. Plus, at a $50 budget you definitely will not be getting a genuine one.

That one
Okay, I've narrowed it down to two choices.
The Ka-Bar Becker Companion 2

or
The Ontario Ranger Shiv.

Now which one to pick...
No. Just no. Gain some knowledge on knives in general and get back to me on suggestions.
If you know so much why ask facepunch.
My suggestion. Don't buy a knife unless you do cooking

I need a good one for camping and a survival course I'm taking in the spring.

You don't need a survival course
You don't need a survival course
Why not? Who knows when you could get stuck in the middle of nowhere?

me. I live in the UK. So Unless I fall in the sea I will be fine

Well I live in 'Merica and i sometimes go backpacking and hiking in the white mountains, so survival training is kinda important
My brother in law has one of these cool neck knives... very useful and utilitarian, plus wearing it like a necklace means you won't get in trouble from any concealed carry laws.

The knife has that nice "square" tip (I don't know what to call it) that's much stronger than those pointy ones... and the case has a whistle! I was playing with his knife the other day and I can attest that it has a very strong blade, I was actually trying to bend it and he got all pissed off at me, but I couldn't bend it with all my might.
This shitty off-brand one shows what the case looks like but doesn't have a whistle:

Go with a Blackhawk Tatang.
Make your own knife out of obsidian. That's what real men do.

Take your pick, this site has great products. I have bought many things from them, swords, knives, throwing knives, and i have never been disappointed.

It's a k bar rip off. Funny, I was just shopping for a fixed blade knife. I was looking for something no more than 20 dollars, and I found this to be the best deal.

?
Never go to Budk. Their shit is low quality. Not like, "good enough" low quality, more like "it will break after 1 use" low quality.
Do you guys know what Glock Field knives are like?
They're great.
Very cheap, but VERY reliable.
My first one broke after 15 years of abuse.
Go for the Becker Companion, they are made by KA-BAR and they are virtually indestructible.
The Ontario is alright, but the spotty heat treat they have on their blades these days can cause them to snap.

Nice fixed blade. A little longer than 5", but I'm sure you can work around it.
I don't know if you have a store in your area called "Harbor freight" but there is one in my town here in Missouri, and they have hardware and things like that.
It's kind of a Home Depot type deal, but with just tools and things of that nature.
Anyway, it's more like the Wal-Mart of hardware. Everything is so cheap.
I saw a machete that was 13 dollars!
I almost bought it to keep it in my car, simply because it was so goddamn cheap.
If i ever had someone threaten to take my wallet, i'd counter-offer that I exchange it for an arm.
They also have cheap pick axes.
I feel like i could become a non-official fire fighter/ bounty hunter/ construction worker.
I can just show up to which ever job site i feel like working at that day.
