every single time I saw this movie some faggot was like "OH WOW BULLSHIT" when it ended people around here hate it if there's no epilogue I don't understand
I thought it was a pretty nice change from all the other movies that were showing at that point. Really left you thinking for a while, imo.
But it was strictly (soft) science fiction. Why introduce magic just for one or two scenes? It completely changes everything we think about the universe the movie plays in.
yeah it was shown for a handful of scenes but it was an incredibly important part of the entire last act
the ending left me with mixed feelings. It was a superb ending, that's out of the question, it just made me feel uneasy while being confused and smitten. Definately a movie I would watch again, and most probably will. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] But Joseph looked hilariously ugly later in the movie. Dunno if it was him aging in the movie, or if he is ugly for real, but he never struck me as an ugly person. The opposite was normaly the case.
I wanted to see the 'bad' reality as kind of a 'flash back' to the future (flash forward), because I wanted to see the Rainmaker as an adult dictator kind of thing. Instead it ended rather abruptly.
[sp]What the fuck was that TK stuff? And why was Young Joe dumb enough to not listen to his old self yet smart enough to kill himself to end the loop? When did he start caring so much to end his own life?[/sp] (User was banned for this post ("Use spoiler tags" - postal))
Saw this movie awhile ago, Kind of convoluted at times but i thought it was okay. [sp]Felt to me like they left the possibility of the kid still becoming the rainmaker in there with the open ending and i thought that was an interesting touch.[/sp]
I'm just happy because this movie used two things I own: a Mazda Miata, and a Beretta Neos.

I don't know about you, but I kind of wanted to see Cid take over the friggin world
This looks incredible and there are way too few good scifi movies now

This movie was pretty good, I almost cried manly tears at the ending even though I had gotten a slight spoiler before I watched it.
I dunno what you guys are going on about being a tad underwhelming, but I loved it
My one problem with the movie is how [sp]Bruce Willis just kinda becomes the villain towards the end. He was fighting for something (His wife) and I wanted to see him succeed at first. Then the film kinda changes up once we get to the farm. I don't know, maybe it's just because I thought the wife was really cute :v: [/sp] That's more of a personal gripe though, I can't really fault the movie for it. Still great.

You also empathize with him(to a point), it makes him a much more interesting character.[/sp]
[sp]I think the point of the scene we see him age and what he has to fight for is to prove there's no such thing as villains, nothing is black and white. Everybody feels what they are doing is just. It's why he broke down after killing the first kid.[/sp]
I just saw the movie and it was great. A really good sci-fi that feels fresh. But I need to discuss the ending. [sp]I guess we aren't supposed to think too much about the time travel stuff and paradoxes. Joe kills himself to prevent the Rainmaker becoming evil, but it still leaves his timeline with a lot of Loopers dead, himself included. Then again all important characters are working for the mafia so there really can't be a good ending. Hopefully the Rainmaker truly becomes good and uses his powers to stop the rule of mafia in the future.[/sp]
In the correct sense of time travel where the past affects the future and so forth; [sp]Young Joe realising that old Joe killing Sarah causes the Rainmaker to exist would have been enough for old Joe to disappear, since he would already know this information and have no reason to go into the past.[/sp]
This a very clever idea. I also [sp]think Old Joe trying to kill the boy changed the past because it made the son and mother bond stronger. After the movie ends the mother survived and Cid accepts her as his mother.[/sp]
I finally got to seeing this last night. It was great, probably my second favorite movie to come out of last year. I watched it with my parents, though. The only problem with this is that my dad fell asleep, like, eight times. He snores. Loudly.
Donnie Darko with guns and telekinesis. Edit: Not meant negatively, just an opinion. I enjoyed it.
I just saw it again and I'm a bit confused about one thing: You might remember just after Cid's mom shoots Young Joe with rock-salt or whatever it was, Joe begins explaining ("Time travel hasn't been invented yet but in 30 years it will be...") and she responds by saying "You're a Looper?". How did Cid's mom know about the whole Looper-thing? Did the movie offer an explanation?

Then give those people a lot of money so they can buy expensive junk (blending in with the locals) and plenty of free time so they can sit at home telling no one about how they got their riches.
So was the little boy joe? Just wondering cause she waves her hand through his hair and the boy becoming lonely etc if he hadn't stopped himself
So was the little boy joe? Just wondering cause she waves her hand through his hair and the boy becoming lonely etc if he hadn't stopped himself
You mean Cid? No, he wasn't Joe. That doesn't make any sense. Young Joe grew up in that era, he didn't travel back. Plus Joe never ever shows any aptitude in TK and even shows disdain for it, saying its a cheap parlour trick. Plus if Old Joe managed to kill Cid and Cid WAS Joe, Old Joe wouldn't exist anymore. And why would Joe want to kill himself
cleared that up its just when that guy comes to the house looking for joe and he is hiding under the lawn with the kid he mentions something about being alone and not having any one which resulted in him taking drugs etc.. and at the end it says something like "and there it was that flashed before a lone little boy" etc so he shoots himself to stop himself shooting the women and kid. But it makes sense now, cause the rainmaker or whatever would of became an evil bastard if joe hadn't stopped himself
Also if it were Joe, then Joe would have banged his own mother.
[sp]How the HELL do you take sides in this movie. I really wanted Bruce Willis to kill the kid because it was confirmed that the kid was going to be a killer so it would of been somewhat justified. (killing a kid really isn't but he already killed two and this one was actually the bad guy). Was the movie trying to make Bruce Willis out to be bad? I guess this movie doesn't really focus on "good" & "bad" but more really what's done is done, but that pisses me off for some reason. Was I the only one rooting for Old Joe?[/sp]
[sp]if bruce willis took some better guns to the final showdown...[/sp]
