Just watched the movie and I loved it. I found the ending to be a little disappointing though, there was so much potential for insane mind blowing plot twists, and they just [sp]killed the protagonist off[/sp]
[sp]Young Joe could have just killed the old Joe, so the kid won't become the mob boss and he would still have thirty or so years to fix everything up[/sp]
I think I understand that bit now, I was confused thoughout the whole movie.
maybe they want to be completely free of any evidence (blood, bullet casings)

or maybe they originally DID murder them and send back the body, but eventually got tired of cleaning up the mess
they could easily strangle the person and zap him back.
i literally can't see anything, in the movie's logic, that says this wouldn't solve most of their problems
not that the movie doesn't still own

They could probably just write it away as when the person's vitals go off, a monitoring system tracks it or some crap like that. The specifics of just why it's so hard to dispose of a body in the future weren't very clear ([sp]"chips n shit"[/sp]).
i would assume someone's signal going dead would occur if they were sent back in time also. but whatever
True, but then they couldn't find the body. There's no evidence to indicate they're dead, just gone. Still, plot holes abound. Not that it actually impacts the quality of the movie.
Did anyone else get the vibe that [sp]Abe is Kid's future self? I really got that from their relationship. He couldn't be his father since he's from the future, but he was of great significance to the kid, he broke down into tears when he couldn't make Abe proud. And they look similar too. Same nose. He fit perfectly for Kid in 30 years.[/sp]

It's possible but I just thought [sp]Kid was so desperate to impress him as everyone treated him like an idiot and he was afraid that failing Abe meant he would be punished.[/sp]
Anyone else think that young Joe sometimes looked a lot like Max Payne?
Defiantly. Hiarliously.

[sp]They also never called him his real name. Just Kid Blue. I'll have to watch it again to see if there's anything up with one of Abe's feet.[/sp]
Fuck, I loved this movie. I want to watch it forever.

[sp]Nah, Abe didn't limp or anything. And his hand would be broken as Abe would have smashed his own hand in. Maybe Abe is Kid Blue's son? [/sp]
[editline]2nd October 2012[/editline]
[sp]And Joe said something how easy Abe's job was that it was hard to fuck it up. Maybe Kid Blue's reputation just carried over to Abe and that's how he got the job.[/sp]

[sp]But a broken hand isn't forever, and I might just be making this up, but didn't Abe look down and flex his right hand after setting the hammer down? Kid's right hand was the one smashed.[/sp]
My classmate (An older guy, movie enthusiast and generally a pretty cool guy), sat down in class yesterday and said "Big warning, don't see Looper. I went to the cinema and saw it yesterday, what an absolute load of rubbish. I was really disappointed".
Without giving me too much spoilers, could anyone suggest the reason he felt this way about the movie? From skimming a few posts here, it seems that quite a few of you still liked it.
Maybe he came in the theater expecting [sp]to see some in-depth explanation for time travel and whatnot? And/or possibly the whole thing about telekinesis?[/sp] I don't know, my best friend came in expecting something different than that, but even then he still enjoyed the movie.
Initially I didn't like the whole idea behind [sp]TKs[/sp], but I've realized still it made sense for how the movie progressed, and the overall time setting.
To be honest, I don't think the [sp]TKs[/sp] were actually necessary for the story. Thinking about it now, I cannot think of a single reason for that aspect being vital to the narrative. It was a nice touch though, interesting and fun to watch.

[sp]it helped convey how dangerous cid was and how much he needed to be properly raised, and really helped to make the rainmaker to seem like a terrifying prospect. they said he took over the future's crime world ALONE, after all.
it could have been done without the tks, but i don't think it would have been done as well. it kind of sucks that the introduction of the tks immediately lets the viewer know that it'll be important later, but i'm not sure how they could have made cid threatening without it.[/sp]
People in my cinema were laughing at that which I think made it even more disturbing
That's... Strange.
People in my cinema laughed when [sp]sid starting blowing people up. Like that scene they find him covered in blood a bunch of people laughed[/sp]

I thought it was amusing when he blew the first guy up, although maybe not funny, but certainly not shocking or upsetting, and least of all not confusing. It wasn't until recently that I realized how many fucking dumbasses come out of the woodwork when it's time to see a movie, my god.

There is no reason unless his idea of a good "movie" is Project X or something, in which case Natural Selection should do its thing soon.
People laughed in my cinema when [sp]Old Joe's wife gave him the finger and in the slow-motion scenes of Sid screaming and causing the TK explosions.[/sp]
Can't wait to see this film..
It was OKAY at best. imo

I laughed at the middle finger. It was hilarious.
The other scene, not so much.
oh my god this movie owns
So, Facepunch, since you are very critical at judging movies, was Looper good? I'm getting mixed reviews.

I got back from my second screening not too long ago. I've never seen the same movie twice in theatres in a 24-hour span.
Answer your question?

It was fan-fucking-tastic. Go see it and judge for yourself.
It was good, and totally worth watching.
It seems like a lot of people here thing its AMAZING, but I can't really agree. It was a good movie, but I wouldn't put it in my top favorites or anything.
It was a good movie, I admit, but I need to watch it again - I went with friends the first time, so I was kind of distracted.
Was anyone else really emotionally affected by the whole [sp]family aspect? It might just be because I have a little brother around the same age as Cid, but any emotional family stuff really hit me.[/sp]
