dude that's the thing he said to tip me off that he thought that [sp]he said "of course a fucking time travel movie has to come along and have a guy bang his own mom"[/sp] "say what now"
here's a really good way to disprove his idiot theory [sp]the rainmaker send old joe back in time to get killed. if joe was the rainmaker old joe sent himself back in time and also shot his own wife[/sp]
I tried that too :( my friend is hopeless but he fixes my car up in exchange for movies [editline]10th October 2012[/editline] which is basically for free
when I walked out I said to my friend Bruce willas successfully made a remake of terminator, but not in a bad way, in a good way, truth be told, the time travel gets kinda quirky throughout the movie but they tried to make it as continuitous as possible and they generaly succeeded, there were a few spots of wtf but generaly good overall anyone ever seen the invader zim episode where he screws with time travel? same general insanity my biggest peeve though was this, why the freekin revolvers? not only were they totally useless in close combat which is what the whole movie was, Bruce demonstrated they have a considerable armory stocked with my personal fav the fn-p90 which got ample love in this movie
the [sp]incestuous implications are disgusting enough[/sp] to make this a dumb theory though i will admit i considered it for a brief moment at the end
Yeah I came out and said "For a minute I thought they were gonna pull a Luke Skywalker/Princess Leia on us with Cid". My friends all said they were worried the same thing would happen too. But only for a brief fucking second.
anyone ever seen the invader zim episode where he screws with time travel? same general insanity
That episode disturbed me for a while. Invader Zim is like the only modern show that had someone actually kill someone in a cartoon (well Dib was revived but he still suffered the tortures of the piggies.) That episode was exactly like a kid-friendly version of [sp]Seth's torture scene[/sp] but Zim used rubber pigs instead.
Saw the movie. Very good. So take everyhing that I don't like as a sign that the rest was almost perfect. The strongest part of the movie is the beginning, pacing, story, everything. And then the bad stuff starts when [sp]Joe reaches the farm. I can't even begin with what was more out of character, story and place, beginning with the sudden "sleep with me" and ending with "I fall down the stairs -> kill the guy" - "we get shot at in a car -> flip the vehicle instead of killing the guy" - "mom gets shot at -> do nothing" - "i get hurt -> kill friggin everyone" which made no sense at all as well as Joe suiciding instead of just shooting his hand off. The whole TK stuff was just out of place and seemed like one giant copout, it's like two different people wrote this, one for the brilliantly done sci-fi stuff, one for the TK stuff. The only thing it REALLY served for the plot was to make him a threat in the future that is so damn almighty that there was really no apparent (well we see even that doesn't work) way for Joe to fix it without killing the kid. But there are so many smarter alternatives. He could have been brilliant, like implied in the beginning when he makes the transmitter. He could've had some information of the future, finding Future-Joes smartphone or whatever, BTTF kinda did it and it was less cheesy and lazy than Uber-TK-Mutation. All in all it made the movie very comic-like and did more bad for the plot than it does good. with the time travel the viewer can always speculate and find a way. The TK stuff just makes any smart thinking about the plot hit a wall in the end.[/sp] What I really enjoyed is how good young Joe and old Joe resembled each other, the down to earth sci-fi, the concentration on dealing with the implications of timetravel instead of the whole "what if" deal and of course the scene where that first guy is "called" back from the airport. [editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
I thought a lot of the movie was shlocky and poorly done for the intelligent action time travel movie I came to expect. When [sp]cowboy kid shot randomly into the scene on the hoverbike[/sp] I couldn't take anything seriously. A considerable amount of the action setpieces seemed tossed in without thoughtful meaning behind them, and while some of the ideas were cool enough to pull it off [sp]like limb losing guy[/sp], others I felt pulled down the movie, especially near the end. For a story with an extremely contrived and illogical timetravel mechanic, I felt there was little payoff for suspending disbelief. [sp]Also it was weird that they introduced new characters late into the movie, then tried to have them carry it to the end, felt disjointed.[/sp]
It [sp]should have been the[/sp] stripper girl,[sp] not farm-lady.[/sp] That was all just out of place compared to the first half.
[sp]cid flipped the car because he's a little kid and can't control his ridiculous superpowers i don't get all this hate for the TK i thought it was a pretty decent addition[/sp]
To be honest, I don't think the [sp]TKs[/sp] were actually necessary for the story. Thinking about it now, I cannot think of a single reason for that aspect being vital to the narrative. It was a nice touch though, interesting and fun to watch.
It was really just there to give Joe a reason. Everything else you could argue with in the whole time travel room. This is just the deadbeating plot element, the Deus Ex. Sadly. [editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
[sp]cid flipped the car because he's a little kid and can't control his ridiculous superpowers i don't get all this hate for the TK i thought it was a pretty decent addition[/sp]
It's lazy writing. [editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
[sp]Am I missing something or what was the point of loopers and this "it's too hard to get rid of people" business when everyone was shooting the shit out of each other. Before you say that was "the past", what's the deal with future Joe's wife getting shot in the gut and then the head hunters go to all the effort to send Joe back in time?[/sp]
I think it has to do with the sensors or chips, Joe has one, she maybe doesn't. Notice how they kinda taze him with something when they break into his house.
best part " so your learning french?, you want to go to france?, go to china" "no, im going to france!" ".....i am from the future, you are going to china" i assume if your reading this you saw the movie already so spoiler tags are pointless
i assume if your reading this you saw the movie already so spoiler tags are pointless
It would still be nice to have them though
[sp]Why do people think the ending would be better if Joe shot his hand off? That would just draw out the climax of the movie, while Joe just killing himself and ending all of it was a clean and total ending. If Joe shot his hand off, it would just make Old Joe drop his gun for a couple seconds. Old Joe's hand would now be a stump, no debilitating injury or life-threatening wound (As demonstrated when Old Seth started cleanly and painlessly losing fingers and limbs) . He could just pick the gun back up with his other hand and shoot Sara, completing the loop. Meanwhile, Young Joe has blown his own hand off, which probably hurts like a bitch, and his now probably bleeding profusely. He's unable to hold the blunderbuss too and is still about thirty yards away from Old Joe.[/sp]

You are so wrong it physically hurts me
I'm liking this poster. Sepia/Gold toned. http://i.cubeupload.com/NfgirV.jpg Shame it's really expensive though.
I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned before, but didn't the city look like City 17? Like, a lot?
I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned before, but didn't the city look like City 17? Like, a lot?
no not at all really
I wish they showed more of the city, and show more about how bad it's gotten after the economic collapse. They showed one example of a guy shooting a thief in the back, but besides that, we didn't see much of the city.
Also, was I the only one getting a Max Payne vibe when JGL was wearing a leather jacket and tie? Honestly, give him a couple more years and it'll be perfect.
When talking to abe? I'm not even going to lie, I was thinking the exact same thing. And then thought Bruce Willis would make a good old max.
[sp]Joe couldn't shoot his hand guys Old Joe had already pulled the trigger. It would still fire[/sp]
I'm liking this poster. Shame it's really expensive though.
You gotta tell me where I can buy this.
[sp]Old Joe had already pulled the trigger. It would still fire[/sp]
No he didn't. How do you figure that?
it zooms in on his finger [sp]press the trigger just as Joe reflects on everything that could happen[/sp]
You gotta tell me where I can buy this.
Ebay was the only place I could find them, but I like I said they're pretty expensive. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=Looper%20Mondo&_sop=1 About $200 buy it now, you could get lucky on a bidding one though.
But it still only almost happened.
it zooms in on his finger [sp]press the trigger just as Joe reflects on everything that could happen[/sp]
But then [sp]if Young Joe shot his finger off, the trigger would just snap back from the "half being pulled" to the "not being pulled at all" position. Otherwise shooting himself would've had no effect on the gun firing either.[/sp] [editline]14th October 2012[/editline] whoops, damn [ key being too close to the p key
I would watch this if the lead role wasn't such a cocksucking phaggot, the writers must feel like shit since all their hard work lead up to a shitty faggy actor fucking everything up in the most homoerotic way.
[sp]Joe couldn't shoot his hand guys Old Joe had already pulled the trigger. It would still fire[/sp]
What? this is wrong. [sp]he halfway pulled it. he still had a few second of life before he faded away. plenty of time for a bullet to come out if he had pulled the trigger!! but he didnt.[/sp] [editline]14th October 2012[/editline]
I would watch this if the lead role wasn't such a cocksucking phaggot, the writers must feel like shit since all their hard work lead up to a shitty faggy actor fucking everything up in the most homoerotic way.
are you actually kidding
