I'm going to make a shot in the dark here. OP, you were one of those kids who at one point fucking loved Christmas; the sort who'd be too excited to sleep the night before, waiting for either Santa or just your presents in the morning. For the first few Christmases, it was wonderful; it felt, for want of a better word, magical.
And then you got older. First you stopped believing in the fantasy of a jolly man in a red suit coming down the chimney with a sack of gifts, all for the sake of a mince pie and some sherry. You might have kept enjoying the holiday for a bit after that, but in a few years, it became entirely material; you always knew what you were getting beforehand, there was no surprise, no build up, just the gain of material wealth.
Finally, you hit the adult stage; when you didn't know what the hell you wanted this year, and ended up with something that you neither needed nor desired. Then the holiday lost all meaning for you, except as a reminder of a time gone by, when it was a day you'd look forward to months ahead of time, instead of indifference or even outright dread. Which is why you fear it so.
Either that or I'm using this thread to vent about my own experiences at 1am while depressed. Take your pick.

What you just wrote makes me think thats how you felt about christmas.
I've never tried eggnog. What does it taste like?
Kind of hard to quantify. Sorta vanilla-esque, with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Very thick and delicious, and is great plain or with some rum, brandy, or whiskey added.
Seriously, OP? I'm ATHEIEST but celebrate Christmas.
I mean, who doesn't like gifts?
Atheiest?
So you're the most atheist?
Christmas is the best if you have a loving family and cousins around your age to play zombies on black ops!
if you don't like anybody, nobody will like you
You got problems. Enjoy living forever alone.
