The only thing the first game had going for it was the story, written by the guy who wrote Red Dawn, but it appears they threw out everything that was good, all two things, and replaced it with a futuristic weaponized army that makes no sense in the universe they created. Crytek what the shit are you doing.

So I'd say they're doing pretty good.
So I guess what they did in the first game didn't do shit.
There must be a link in the actual game between the ending of the first and this. Because the way the first game ended it look's like the tide was turning.
That wet n shiny effect is a bit overdone.
The story in this might not eve be connected to the first one, it might be its own thing, since it's not even called "Homefront 2".
Surely it can be better than the last one.
Wasn't the multiplayer for Homefront really good?
If any of you have not read them yet, go read the gameplay demo reviews in the news section http://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=51 it actually sounds pretty cool.
It was specifically stated that Homefront 1 sold just enough copies to warrant a sequel. Been waiting to hear about this for years. The trailer really gives me a city 17 feel, I hope it'll be decent.
All games are going sci-fi now.
Is that John Freeman?

If it's anything like the trailer (which is very, very, very unlikely as Ubisoft are so eager to regularly prove) I think this'll be kind of interesting. Of course it's likely this will be a shitty CoD clone but the vibe and the concept in the trailer is something rarely explored in fps and when it is it's always in like half a level and then you remember which pocket you kept the RPG with infinite ammo in.
Apparently it will be open world and focused on guerrilla warfare.
i could go for some red faction: guerrilla stuff lotta potential there
Looks pretty original...
The trailer looks good but after Door Kicker Simulator 2011 this had better be basically the Messiah of modern gaming. Like, i have a penchant for bad games and B movies and the like but i couldn't bring myself to get through Homefront, couldn't even finish it. I can't even say "cautiously optimistic", it's more like "Hoping the apocalypse doesn't happen".
I was never interested in this game, because the premise just sounds way to absurd to take seriously.
Honestly, I'm curious how Crytek will continue the story. At the end of Homefront 1 the USA army was getting ground and regrouping, and the EU was about to reach a decision to help. Now we're in the future, and the USA is under the firm control of NK again. Probably the EU pussied out, won't be surprised.
You act like Crytek cares about story continuity.
This is being made by Crytek? I can't wait to play the first 2/3 of the game before it's completely ruined by aliens, mutants, or possible crazy cyborgs this time.
Homefront was on the west coast, dollars to donuts this is the east coast, which is still under firm NK grip due to the irradiated midwest.
Why are they so inclined in making another 'Oh so moody/serious' game when the idea of NK invasion itself is already too wack to be taken seriously by common folk. Why can't they just make it into a self-aware, straight into VHS cheese campyness aesthetics instead? [T]http://www.kinotab.com/o/418056cartazinvasionusa.jpg[/T]
I still can't take this game seriously though, NK can't even feed its own people let alone develop all this nano suit lookin shit.
Looks like a cheap knock off of Wolfenstein TNO.
Honestly, as was stated previously in the thread, it reminds me more of Half-Life 2 than anything else and the cop outfits remind me of the ones from the Fifth Element but less bulky.
I think it looks interesting, mainly thanks to open world promise. I don't care about first Homefront so I have no problems trying it out if it turns out to be good.
I huh didn't really think this game had enough success in the market to warrant a sequel
It was actually THQ's most pre-ordered game when it came out.

am i the only one who thought the graphics on this look really shit?
Looks like a cheap knock off of Wolfenstein TNO.
They don't look anything a like to me. Plus this is going to be an open world game.
