It's gonna sound weird but i really don't feel that an open world super serious military shooter is going to go well.
Wasn't the multiplayer for Homefront really good?
I wouldn't know because when I went to play it, it was pretty much dead So I'm guessing no [editline]2nd June 2014[/editline]
am i the only one who thought the graphics on this look really shit?
This was prerendered
i played the mp during a free weekend, thought it was extremely average
Homefront multiplayer is what you would get if you got Battlefield and Call of Duty in the same game and split it perfectly 50/50. It had some cool things like the drones and the overall score streak/vehicle system was extremely well balanced compared to CoD but it also had a lot of technical issues (like the server browser not working for about two weeks) that basically killed the PC multiplayer. Unfortunately you can't go back and try it today; the servers were taken down last year.
The Homefront Multiplayer had things that were very very fun. An interesting system of perks, a host of various in-field "upgrades" that you earned and could mix-match at your leisure and a buffet of vehicles. The map design was also really really nice too. If they can repeat that without the server errors, I'd love to play it. [editline]2nd June 2014[/editline] When I mean by map design, they didn't feel super cluttered. There were areas of just flat out emptiness that added to a much more "natural" feel.
Honestly I think this trailer looks fucking awesome I haven't even played Homefront, but I'll definitely give Homefront 2 a try.
what got me hyped about Homefront was that it was made by the same guys who did Front Lines: Fuel of War, which was probably one of my favorite FPS titles to date.
what got me hyped about Homefront was that it was made by the same guys who did Front Lines: Fuel of War, which was probably one of my favorite FPS titles to date.
Yeah Front Lines: Fuel of War looked so cool at the time, it was kinda disappointing though.
There must be a link in the actual game between the ending of the first and this. Because the way the first game ended it look's like the tide was turning.
This could be taking place during the same timeframe as the first game or on the other side of the Mississippi river
This could literally have been a new IP and I wouldn't have noticed :v:
Hey, if this does well, they might be able to make Home-Front 2: Episode 1 and Home-Front 2: Episode 2! :v:
Well it looks like rainy streets are what to expect from every next gen game now.
No producer would ever put big money behind a realistic guerrilla warfare game, not in a million years.
Thing is it could work extremely well. It'd just need a simple and intuitive order-giving system and AI intelligent enough to follow it.
Well, I wish they hire some actor who can actually speak korean :v: Previous HomeFront 1 has really awkward korean voices.
Well, I wish they hire some actor who can actually speak korean :v: Previous HomeFront 1 has really awkward korean voices.
Too be fair not even blockbuster movies can hire actual Korean people who speak Korean from what I hear :v:
I really liked the idea of Homefront, it was one of the few recent FPS that had a different premise to it, and I was actually glad to hear it was getting a sequel despite poor sales, and somewhat poor quality (the singleplayer was literally everything wrong with modern FPS, but the multiplayer was a nice in-between from CoD and Battlefield), I think Crytek are a developer that could really bring out the potential in this concept. That being said, it looks like this sequel is changing quite a bit (looks like they're changing from the present-day style setting to more "near future" sci-fi a la Human Revolution) to the point where it might not really be considered the same continuity or series, and considering how poorly Homefront did, it might sell better if it were released as an all new IP.
They have completely mechanical/solid (?) airships, machines that can detect anti-government propaganda (?), but they don't have a metal detector in a checkpoint??
It's gonna sound weird but i really don't feel that an open world super serious military shooter is going to go well.
you're right it does sound weird mostly because free-roam "super serious military shooters" have been done fucking great multiple times
Fuck Sake... NO ONE WANTS THIS.
i do an open world resistance/guerilla warfare game, why the fuck not?
Well it looks like rainy streets are what to expect from every next gen game now.
i am 100% ok with this
you're right it does sound weird mostly because free-roam "super serious military shooters" have been done fucking great multiple times
I honestly can't think of any off the top of my head, could you list a few?
I honestly can't think of any off the top of my head, could you list a few?
stalker, arma, hell this doesn't look like it'll be any more tactical than say, far cry 2 and 3
Homefront 1 was absolute shit lmao [editline]3rd June 2014[/editline] actually I'm laughing about this I hope it fails again
stalker, arma, hell this doesn't look like it'll be any more tactical than say, far cry 2 and 3
Vanilla Stalker is fairly linear, kinda drags you forward, Arma is more of a simulator. I mean like, gritty, taking themselves too seriously shooters like the original or the CoD series. Hence the "super seriously military series".
so i take it you haven't played call of pripyat
I have played CoP, i've played all of them repeatedly, it was still fairly linear though the areas were significantly bigger. Yeah you had the option to free-roam but the narrative just kinda drags you forward, Clear Sky was the absolute worst about that. Having a dissenting opinion doesn't always mean it's a misinformed one. I love the Stalker series, it's easily one of my favorite. I've clocked well over 600 hours on SoC alone.
Homefront 1 was absolute shit lmao [editline]3rd June 2014[/editline] actually I'm laughing about this I hope it fails again
I better hope it's going to be just as good as Crysis 3.
i do an open world resistance/guerilla warfare game, why the fuck not?
sounds like but no other game of the same type will ever come close to mercenaries for me
