Looks awesome! Reminds me of Freelancer, which was one of my fav space games :D
I came. That was awesome, especially the music. [editline]11:01PM[/editline]
Wow, I'm very impressed. I thought your mod died off a little after a demo release a while back due to real life circumstances, so this is some huge progress from what I've seen (you guys even have a fancy logo animation too :P )
Where can I get this demo release? I found a link in google but it's dead. Nevermind http://www.crawspace.com/vids/X32I.rar
Will there be a FPS element in this?
Will there be a FPS element in this?
Only for briefings, and possibly for ship repairs. We've not planned any FPS shooting elements.
That music in the asteroid field was beautiful. ...And, y'know, the particle effects were too :v:
only for briefings, and possibly for ship repairs. We've not planned any fps shooting elements.
but why not bro?
but why not bro?
Because its not an FPS? There are other genres ya know :p.
Yeah this is a Space simulator, not a FPS, there's enough FPS in the world, and not enough Space-sim's. Hence why we are making X32I :P. There will be a First Person perspective in every mission, or more accurate between every mission. But it's story related, and for briefings as well as customising your ships weapons loadout and components etc. There will be no first person shooting at all in this, and that's not going to change sadly, we wanted to make something different with the Cryengine 2 not the same copy and paste work.
Yeah, good job with that too I really like that approach :) Frankly CE2 is capable of so much more so it's awesome you guys decided to take the freespace 2 approach to the mod and the trailer footage looks great for that. I'm personally sick of fighting generic koreans/AI in Crysis, even good crysis maps now feel same-y to me. Also I thought the 1024 height limit only applied to terrain textures? If not, perhaps making it so everything is "small" so it appears like you have a lot of space to move around in. That might not work though.
I don't think minimizing the size of all the models will help because the player view is locked to a certain scale. I'm sure we'll get around it :).
Video update : was slightly out of sync.
Thanks for the lovely feedback regarding the music, I'm the composer for X32I. You'll be most welcome to pay money for the music if and when the soundtrack is released! ;p Seriously though, thanks for the support, your words keep us motivated to put out more and more content.
Are you using a program , if so , are you using Magix Music maker. If you say yes to that , I will kill you for being such a cheap asshat
Does your composer, Gareth Coker, have a website or some place to download his music for this mod? It's such a good listen.

We really are honoured to have him.
How'd you get him then?
He worked on an mod Sir Baron used to work on.
I think I'm going to install Crysis again just for this. I'm just astonished, well good luck. I'd pay for it :P
I think I'm going to install Crysis again just for this. I'm just astonished, well good luck. Edit : Have ratings been reset?
Everyone is too nice. I've worked with SirBaron before and we have an excellent working relationship. He knows how to tell a story, and his (and or writer's) vision for this project is outstanding. I'm 100% committed to this project regardless of whether I get paid or not. Sometimes, it's worth putting those irons in the fire because you never know where it might lead. The X32I music will be made available when the game is released. I can't say exactly how long the soundtrack will be, but currently, it's looking like there will be about 90 - 120 minutes of original music for the game. I'll do it in much the same way that the fantastic score for NeoTokyo was released. And whilst I have done quite a bit of work professionally, I'm still learning, and I'm only 25. I doubt I'll hit my peak for another 5-10 years. I'm currently studying on a GREAT film scoring program in Los Angeles, so by the end of this year, I will be a much better composer. As for the equipment I'm using, I use a Macbook Pro and a monstrous desktop PC. The software I use is primarily Sonar 8 Producer Edition, but I'm liking Logic Studio 9 as well. Logic Studio 9 is better for syncing up music to picture (it handles video far better than Sonar) however Sonar is way better for dealing with sequencing and MIDI. As far as generation of sounds, the final soundtrack will be a mixture of live players, commercially available sound libraries, and some sampled instruments that I recorded myself and that no-one has ever heard before ;)

And ofcourse he's not using that program he's uses professional software, and is also now using software which composers use to create music for films/games.
