It was a good book until English class came along...
One of the better books that we read though
I'm reading it in class too. On chapter 20 so far. For some reason I keeping that scout gets raped later on.
My teacher almost cried when he finished the book.
Apparently he really likes it.
This. Considering the title I was both surprised and disappointed at the lack of mocking bird killing throughout the book considering the title.
you missed the whole point of the book
I enjoyed the book, the only book I have enjoyed reading in English literature, compared to The Great Gatsby and the Curious Case of the Dog in the Night time.
And the Crucible was insanely boring, best bit about it was watching the film and, right at the end; [sp]when Tom and the others are hung for Witchcraft[/sp] my friend laughed really loud and the teacher started shouting at him for not appreciating such a touching, emotional and well presented moment.
Had to read this along with Alas, Babylon for summer homework a couple of years ago. It's a fantastic book.
+1 vote for literature forum
I hate how the teacher is forcing the real meanings down our throat every 3 seconds.

God how can you not get the title
Way better than a lot of the other books that nearly every school reads. Lord of the Flies is the best "school" book though.
I liked the trial.
The rest of the book was kind of boring.
I liked it
I read it for school and then my teacher gave us all "What would Atticus do?" pins. Good read, luckily the only thing I really had to analyze was how the title related to the book.
Spoiler alert!

My 11th grade American Lit class teacher actually taught that class in a way that made me appreciate analyzing literature. We read The Great Gatsby, and when we finished, I actually felt bad for Jay. It's sad, because I can constantly relate to him in my everyday life. I have a hard time letting go of things, and I fall in love with mere ideas.
I read this book in english once, back in year 9. I liked it, nothing much i can say about it without giving any spoilers out but people should read it if they already havn't.
I don't get how you can actually spoil an american classic. It's like saying [sp]Dumbledore dies![/sp]
This should be in fast threads

Who cares. You should be in Fast Food with that mindset.

Not going to post a synopsis/summary due to spoilers.
So what do you guys think of the book? We're reading it in English class and I it is a very good book.
Holy shit, do i know you in real life? We are doing very much the same in our language arts class. If it matters, teacher's name is Mrs. Crimi.

Spoiler Alert!!! [sp]He's the person leaving you love letters[/sp]
This is one of my favorite books that I had to read for a school curriculum.
It's a metaphor you twit
Also...the book was great but the movie was meh
Also, one of my favorites books.

book summed up
I liked it better than the shit we're reading in class now.
Animal farm is great and all but 1984 conveys the message better while being a much more enjoyable read. A Separate Peace is just shitty.

fuck of mice and men was boring and useless, and lord of the flies was just trash.
I liked it a lot. Hated the movie though, it was slow and uninteresting compared to the book.
It was a joke you twit. Do you have no sense of humor?
Considering thats how I'd expect the average facepuncher to respond no I did not
I enjoyed the book, although the film's easier to watch.
That's because you don't watch books.
The best way to kill a mocking bird is to feed it that 5 minute cake.
