Because of this, I watched all the episodes the day after.
Worth it.
Welp time for me to watch it now too
Is it better than Cowboy Bebop or does that still hold the throne of godliest anime ever made that is appealing to even people who don't like anime

Considering that I rarely watch anime (or watched Cowboy Bebop for that matter (should I?)), I say it was pretty fantastic to watch.

You should watch cowboy bebop, its devoid of pretty much all the negative stereotypes people expect out of anime. Beautiful animation especially for 1998 as well. It also is short form in that there are only 26 episodes (unlike some anime that goes on for hundreds) and each episode generally has its own plot to it (but the whole anime does follow a set arc/character development).
Here's what wikipedia says about it!
Cowboy Bebop became a critical and commercial success both in Japanese and international markets, most notably in the United States. The series garnered several major anime and science fiction awards from Japanese publications, and received universal praise for its style, characters, story, voice acting, animation and soundtrack. In the years since its release, critics and reviewers, from the United States in particular, have hailed Cowboy Bebop as a masterpiece and frequently cite it as one of the greatest anime series of all time. Credited with helping introduce anime to a new wave of Western viewers in the early 2000s, Cowboy Bebop has also been labelled a gateway series for the medium as a whole.
Which I totally agree with.
Also it has an awesome jazz inspired soundtrack.
I think next year they were planning on re-releasing Cowboy Bebop for blu-ray HD which would be awesome. No clue how it'll turn out though. Also the dubbing for Cowboy Bebop is really good (which is rare for anime) so don't be afraid to listen to the dubbed version.
Before people start asking where Season 2 is when they finish AoT, Season 2 can take up to 1 or 2 years before its released. :v:

without going into spoiler territory how far into the story line is the mango, is it near completion or what?

The manga is currently at Volume 11 (I think) and the creator wants to end it by the 20th volume, so around half-way through.
Actually, as of chapter 51 of the manga (the first of volume 13), SnK has only 7 * 4 + 3 = 31 chapters left
Which means it will end in exactly 2 years and 7 months
I'm assuming whenever he gets to the basement the story will be near the end.
