...What was that? A lorry you say?
I suddenly started liking this car today. Every time I see one in movies or games I'm like "yeah that's cool" but I walked by a real one today and I noticed how fucking awesome the front end looks.

My brother has '93 non turbo model, and a '87 model, also non-turbo. He loves them like they were his kids. Though they are both in pretty rough shape sadly.

Nice budget rims on that Celica Bra'h.
I see those rims all the time on E100 Corolla hatchbacks.
I drive a 1985 Ford F150 4x2 with the 300ci inline six and a 4-speed overdrive manual. My parents bought it for me when I wrecked the 1996 Nissan 200SX-SE 1.6L I had before, which was totalled. They spent 500 bucks, seeing as that's all they could afford.

Really shitty night shot I took of my old pickup 3 years ago. Doesn't look much different today. I need to get a better picture or three of it...
I haven't done much to keep 'er running, either....carb overhaul, head gasket, clutch, and that's all the major stuff. Runs pretty damned good for a 24 year old truck with 260,000 miles on it. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It starts every time I turn the key, it stays running until I shut it back off, and it doesn't seem to mind it's highway gears too much.
I have used it as a truck, too. I've had it up to it's floorboards in standing water, I've had it up to the beads in mud, I've drug a car about 15 miles, and someone else towed a broken 1988 Dakota home on a four corner trailer with it. Total cargo weight: 7,000 pounds roughly. Truck's rated capacity: 5500 pounds. But it did it anyways.
I want to get my hands on something sporty(I'm thinking a Miata, perhaps a used NSX on eBay Motors. I can find one there for 20,000 bucks or so, not a bad deal for a drop dead sexy corner carver) and prop it up on jackstands. It needs a restoration...the engine runs fine, but the steering and suspension are REALLY showing their age. IT also needs a fair amount of bodywork, and everything in the interior except the seat needs to be repaired or replaced outright. On top of all that, the power part of my power brakes doesn't work. The brakes themselves work fine, just no assist. But, it does run, so for the time being I'm going to drive it. My friends sure appreciate it, as it's usually what jumps them off when they leave their headlights on :p
Odd/random fact: It is 5 years older than I am, to the day. At least, according to Carfax. Who'da thunkit?
If i ever get money enough, i want to buy this mercedes.

Why doesn't Mercedes sell cars with oldschool Manual Transmission?
Why doesn't Mercedes sell cars with oldschool Manual Transmission?
Because most people can't be arsed to have to worry about a third pedal, proper timing, a stick, etc. Some people want to just drive with those worries gone.

..You aren't really driving unless you have a manual. You simply aren't in control of the entire car, you're just suggesting to it what you want it to do.

Now see, shit like that pisses me off. The whole, "YOU'RE NOT A DRIVER UNTIL YOU DRIVE STICK SHIFT" mentality is stupid. Automatic shifting does give me control of the car. If you drive an automatic car for long enough, you know how hard you need to press the accelerator to get it down to each gear. It's fucking the same thing as stick shift minus having to fuck around with a third pedal and a stick. Fuck manuals. Suggesting them over automatics to the everyday city driving is not valid. Nobody with the exception of some in denial want to shift up, down, up up up, down down down, up, etc., at all red lights. You don't fully enjoy driving with a manual because it's just more shit to have to worry about.

I'm surprised those people even can be arsed to breathe, why not just use a Respirator/Medical ventilator?
Fuck if you're too laze to learn to drive smooth with stickshift, then you're damn lazy.
agh, there you go again j00 with your anti-Stick speel. Stick is hell of alot more fun under many many circumstances, but fair enough; bumper to bumper traffic Its uselessly annoying.

When you push the pedal down, you go faster
When you release the pedal a bit, you go slower
What's so wrong about autos?

That's why you take a small detour, where you can floor it.

One word:
Boring.
Detours are pretty useless in Our city in rushhour. its the one time of day you deal with the bumper to bumper BS.
And a new pic of my sexy car with Police wheels on it.

Lost of empty straight roads for flooring it

Lol'd at smooth. Automatics are much smoother, especially on newer cars where there's no noticable pause in acceleration at gear change.
Lol'd at smooth.
It's all about "feeling" the clutch

In short: easy but damn boring to drive.
Would it be fine if I learned how to drive automatic first and then manual, or would I be pissing off some sort of car god or angry man with a Inuyasha avatar?
In short: easy but damn boring to drive.
Shifting isn't the only factor of driving.
Now see, shit like that pisses me off. The whole, "YOU'RE NOT A DRIVER UNTIL YOU DRIVE STICK SHIFT" mentality is stupid. Automatic shifting does give me control of the car. Something tells me your sole experience with a stick was with an inexperienced driver that didn't know what they were doing. Most people who think manuals are annoying and just 'more shit to fuck with in the car' are that way. Either that or they're just lazy. I drive both regularly, I can see the pros and cons of both. Honestly, it's not a big deal to drive a stick in the city. I don't even notice when I make a shift, my body already knows what to do and when to do it, does it 100% autonomously.
I probably wouldn't dislike them so much if they weren't so indecisive. Every automatic I've ever driven can't make up it's damn mind, I always find myself telling it to "Pick a goddamn gear and stop shifting". It's real annoying when you need to apply, say, 1/2 throttle in overdrive to climb a hill and the transmission thinks it needs to kick down into second gear and rev the nuts off a 20 year old engine while giving everyone inside whiplash. Then, when you actually do need to get it to kick down, you have to do it by moving the shift lever to 1 because the dumbass ECU doesn't see a need to kick down. Happens to me all the time, and there's nothing I can really do about it except cuss and bury the throttle. This, IMO, is far more annoying than having to shift 1-2 2-1 1-2 2-1 at every light. By the way, the automatic I drive regularly is a 1994 Chrysler Town and Country with a 3.8 V6 and 4-speed electronic overdrive automatic. I drive it more than I do my stickshift F150 these days, as it actually seats four people comfortably.

You'll be fine as long as you don't get closed minded about driving either one.
Also, changed avatar. I haven't watched that show in two years, I've just been far too lazy to change the avatar.
Would it be fine if I learned how to drive automatic first and then manual, or would I be pissing off some sort of car god or angry man with a Inuyasha avatar?
Just don't drive automatic for 5 years THEN try to learn manual, then you'll be fine.
Just don't drive automatic for 5 years THEN try to learn manual, then you'll be fine.
Considering the only automobile my family owns is a manual 198X Nissan pickup, I don't think there'll be a problem.

Learn Manual. It's much more fun and cheaper to get a stick shift.
Also, yes, the car gods would be disappointed in you.

Stick shift city driving is fun as hell.
And honestly, you don't even notice shifting once it becomes second nature.
So, in my opinion, fuck automatics.
Have fun dozing off at the wheel some day.
