I'm buying an automatic truck and keeping my manual mustang. Honestly, after a few years, stop and go driving with a short-geared manual is really annoying :derp:
So, Can anyone explain to me how in less then 24 hours(yesterday afternoon to this morning), my power steering decided it no longer wanted to work? Seriously, it worked perfectly the day before, but when I pulled outta my driveway this morning, I realized it was suddenly a gigantic pain in the ass to turn.
1988 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA
5.7 Liter 350 Cubic inch Tuned Port Injection V8
700R4 4 speed automatic with overdrive transmission
Limited slip rear end with 3:27 gears
Hard top
Camel tan leather interior (I have not seen another hardtop/leather car)
Fully digital instrumentation
Was a rare 1 of 718 notchback (supposedly 1 of 50 notchbacks with the 350 engine)
I have a K&N cone filter, and a reprogrammed ECM in it so far. I am going to be upgrading the intake manifold, porting the plenum, runners, and getting a nice cam soon along with some other goodies. looking for 350+ RWHP
What does FP think?

I really do love this car. It is so much fun to drive, and I get so much attention when I do drive it. It has the best of both worlds, the technology, and all the creature comforts a new car would have, along with handling that surpasses some new sports cars. But it has the looks, and the rarity of a classic. I have only seen one GTA in shape comparable to what mine is in the hole time I have owned the car. The engine is a great too, I have over 340Lbs ft of real real low end torque and can spin tires and get sideways from stoplights with ease. When I drop the transmission to 1st and just punch it through the firewall, the roar and the feel of the car getting sideways is unreal. I used to take the car up to this local cruising spot by my old house every Friday and Saturday night. One time I happened to pull up next to a C6 Vette at a light. He kind of looked at me and gave the engine a quick rev. So I dropped it down to first and gave her hell when the light turned green. I was able to keep up with the Vette until we had to stop at the next light about a short block up the street. We were next to each other again and he looked amazed that I kept up with him. Sure, if the race would have went any further he would have destroyed me but I kept up because of all the low end it has. He asked me what I had in it and when I said it was stock his jaw almost fell to the floor lol. To be honest mine was too. Anyways enough I can tell stories for hours about putting ricers to shame and other things but Ill stop. I know its not the best car in the world but it is my favorite. If you guys would like to see pictures of the car when it had the rare notchback hatch on it I can post some too.

I really like that interior, and what are all the buttons on the steering wheel?

Time machine controls is my bet.
They used to control the stock radio. I have the stock one, but I put in a new Sony Xplod head unit with HD radio, all new pioneer speakers, and a 600 watt amp hidden in the back where the spare tire goes so everything appears stock.

Cold?

Honestly, Its possible, but unlikely. I live in florida afterall. The weather the last few days has been bipolar as all hell. It had been comfortably cool for the last few weeks, but suddenly it was up in the upper 80s, even into the 90s yesterday. Then today, it was like mid 60s and really windy. If the sudden change could affect it, then I guess.
Has it been making any weird noises? leaking any fluid? Check your power steering fluid level. It is probably too late, and the pump is dead already but it wouldn't hurt to take a look.
Here is my 03 Jetta 1.8T

No noises, no fluid leaks. When the car got a tune up back in october, they replaced the steering fluid. Could it go bad that quick?

It's really fun to drive, comfortable as hell, and easy to work on. They usually go for about $1,500 - $3,000
The one I drove didn't even have power steering. :v:
Power steering is overrated anyway, it's broken in my Corolla, and i can easily live without it.

It was one of these:

It's really quite interesting how we thought of Ladas as powerful and respectable in Egypt. If you drive this around in Canada/America, you'd probably look like a tool.
Nope, actually more fun without.
I'm ditching the power steering pump instead of fixing it.
I never parallel park anyway.
I would really like the new Kia Soul.

Questionable build quality, paired with very "unusual" (to say it in a friendly manner) design.
Doubt it's gonna sell well.

'95 Ford Mustang.
Correction on my previous post, The tune-up was in october. I didnt even own the car last march
If the power steering is still shot, Is it bad to continue driving it despite the slight annoyance? Will I possibly cause any more damage?

It does sell very well. They sell quite alot of those at my job (I'm at a Kia/Ford/Mazda dealer) But the ones we have are red with a white vinyl

I knew it.
They look like something my grandmother would drive.
Hmmm, it seems I have almost enough cash, and it's just about time to get my second car. I'm into sporty cars (been using a cheapo VL with no turbo :'( ) and I'm very much interested in buying a Nissan. It doesn't need much room, back seats would be nice, but what's mainly in my pricetag is old Nissans like Skylines, Silvias and 300ZXs under about $10 grand AUD. Advise me the best value for money.
BTW I love trackdays and actually use cars for more than just chick magnets.
Me and my brother took a ride in his 306 in the snow, we were going to pick up the winter wheels, then we slipped and got stuck... awesome :v:

Bahahahahaha.
[editline]02:25AM[/editline]
Ok, down to a Skyline or a Silvia. Silvia's are more practical and I have been told are cheaper for turbo kits, body kits and repairs, but I've also been told that Skylines drift easier and cleaner.

It was pretty funny until we got it out and it wouldn't start up again :v:
