-snip- That sounded dumb.
Looks like my 7 may need some new engine mounts. Thankfully the parts aren't very expensive and I could replace them myself. However, if my catalytic converter turns out to be dead, I'll have to spend a bit more money. Of course, the sometimes expensive upkeep is to be expected with a bimmer this age, I've had just about every common problem found with the 7's. Makes me wonder why folks are always yelling about the American cars falling apart.
Funny you should say that, because I effectively learned how to use a stick at the age of 9 on my parents' Lada and Fiat. I know how to drive a stick, but some days I just can't be bothered to dick around with a third pedal and a stick, specifically during rush hour where it's just repetitive as fuck. But oh no, let's make fun of him because driving a manual is so HARDCORE.
Ok, to sum up. You like stock Mazda's, and automatic gears, because you "can't be bothered to shift" ? Are you infact a 40 year old soccermom?

I don't want to cry about it, but if you could pick me up from school that'd be great

By the way, have you guys seen the new Ford Fiesta Ken Block is going to drive ? I don' think it looks all that good, although I kinda like the livery. The new BMW 1000rr has a 999cc engine creating 193HP. I assume it has to do with how high motorbike engines rev compared to car engines, my one for example does 15k rpm but it's a detuned version than from a supersport that does 17/18k rpm. So why can't you stick a high revving engine in a car and get better horsepower?

And reliability, because they're under a heavier stress then bike engines. That's some of the reasons, can't remember the other one's
RPM's are directly limited to horsepower, the same engine with the Revlimit doubled would effectively double the horsepower, this means shit if it takes ages to get there though.

The only good car Ford ever made for rally was the escort all those years ago.I just don't see why the hell he would do that. Also, All these Ken Block/Subaru/DC Shoes shirts going around now, and almost everyone wearing them doesn't even know what WRC is. Which sounds more badass? Subaru Impreza WRX STI or Ford Fiesta. WHAT THE FUCK. It wouldn't be so bad if he was using the WRC version of the new Focus but no, Ford fucking Fiesta.
I've never hit anything, been pulled over by the police or gotten any ticket :buddy:
Me too. :buddy: The only time I've hit anything was when I took a turn too fast and one of my wheels hit the curb sideways. :ohdear:
Ok, to sum up. You like stock Mazda's, and automatic gears, because you "can't be bothered to shift" ? Are you infact a 40 year old soccermom?
I have a manual transmission in my pickup, and I hate it. I have to shift to 4th gear just to get to 35 MPH, and turning is a pain in the ass, what with trying to shift with the floor stickshift and steering at the same time. The clutch is in an uncomfortable position to use, because it's a good 8 inches above the floorboards. I have to constantly raise my foot into the air to push it all the way in to shift. Manual transmissions are completely pointless unless you're driving a semi truck, or a sports car. The only benefits of a manual transmission I can think of is that you can say how badass you are because you can move a stick around to reach 20MPH, and they're cheaper to service. The difference in gas mileage is between 5% and 15%, too small of a gain for such a pain in the ass thing you have to put up with every time you drive.
I might be getting an 90's Camaro for my first car.
One thing everyone has to realize is that no two manual or automatic transmissions are alike, so stop hating, all of you. There's a difference between the slapstick in your mom's sedan and a proper dualclutch tiptronic. There's a difference between the shitty long-throw tranny of your dads pickup, and a short-throw, smooth shifting, and good feeling clutch of a sports car.

Manual transmission is pretty much standard in the UK still too, if you pass a test with an automatic you get a restricted license meaning you can't drive automatic unless you re-apply for a licence and do the test etc, so people learn manual and tend to stick to it. The extra cost, and the fact we tend to have smaller cars with smaller engines and higher MPG means we tend to use manual. Automatic is a bit of a luxury most people don't bother with. Oh, and thanks to the people who said about the whole motorbike/car engine thing.

I love driving with auto, but I also get a satisfaction when shifting. It's not like "I can't be bothered to shift" or stuff like that. I enjoy it, but in rush hour; automatic please.
The only automatics I like are proper slappy-paddle's like in the 370Z and GT-R with downshift rev matching, and the powerglide.

I love manual cars a lot, because I go to the track sometimes and watch races, whenever I'm in an auto, it doesn't feel the same because I can't pull out of corners in high RPM's...
and what the hell do you mean by having to shift to 4th to get to 35mph?
My gearing: 1st only goes to about 10mph before the "SHIFT UP" warning lights up on my dash 2nd only goes to about 15mph 3rd only goes to about 30mph 4th only goes to about 45mph 5th tops out at the truck's max speed of 85mph (which I'll never go to). The gears can probably go a bit higher, but the truck has no RPM indicator, and the engine is so old I'm afraid I'll damage it by revving.
I know it isn't a car but it's car related. I want a racing kart so bad. It's like $3,000 for a beater, $5,000 for a good one a few years old, and over $12,000 for a new one. Bah, all these people hating on manuals. GTFO. Its all they used to have. My 40 year old truck has a four speed. It goes 50 or so max. But it gets there. Really. Fucking. Fast. (And then built T400 going in after I finish polishing it this year, Built automatics fuck yeah)
