Well, I'd recommend computer programming, because, well, it doesn't take any design skills (as long as you're working with a big company, or you have your own personal graphical design artist). They do all of the backend stuff.
dont have kids
"film director" & "game designer" are not jobs. just like "actor" and "musician" are not jobs. 'Notorious film director' , 'Notorious game designer' , 'Notorious actor' , 'Notorious musician' are jobs, because fame is profitable. But don't plan on becoming famous. Cool jobs that are achievable by the average non-famous person: Indie game developer Film set technician Cameraman / journalist etc those positions have potential to support you, as in paying rent/mortgage and stuff hey, at least you're not this guy
so a "game designer" is not a job but an "indie game designer" is... wow
so a "game designer" is not a job but an "indie game designer" is... wow
developer, not designer. biiiiiig difference and I'm talking about the casual gaming market. i guess being a developer for high-profile games is achievable too, though not easy & probably overrated
Being self-critical can have it's advantages
Being self-critical can have it's advantages
this is true and when other people are discouraging, that needs to be fuel for the fire
im a hippo. [editline]02:23AM[/editline] shit wrong thread
Don't worry, I'm a moose.
Either Film-Making (Director) or Game Designer. Haven't decided for sure yet.
You want to be in charge of a film but you can't share a paper with people you don't know? What.
You and everyone else under the sun.
The best you'll get with that attitude and confidence is McDonald's Employee of the Month.
I hate everything i make too but I just force myself to show my work to other people. If they don't like it, it's ok because I don't like it either
I love things I make, I show them off.
I feel your pain, BrokenHobo. I've been unsatisfied with this logo and website projects in media class, but in the end I got triple A's on both projects. But I still doubt myself way too much. Very low self-esteem I guess. You will probably earn some more trust in yourself after getting some great feedback/grades, just watch out so you don't become too cocky.
solution: Don't make anything.
Don't ever have a child.
The second I read this thread title, that's the first thing I thought. Get out of my head!
this is true and when other people are discouraging, that needs to be fuel for the fire
Yeah, I guess it can work both ways though. If you are critical of yourself and your creations you are more likely to exercise a larger amount of justified restraint in your daily life. Just remember, don't be too much of a perfectionist or you'll just end up not making anything because you assume it will be shit and a waste of time.
stop that completely, show your stuff around when you have to regardless what you think and don't care what others think about it, that should help i was like you back at junior high and i got over of it with that, now i'm in a voc school and only thing i get to show around is bad wiring and curvy cables when installing lamps to roof or stuff
I mean big things, like say, school projects. That's a good example because I have actually failed school projects because I was never satisfied with it.
No doubt you're going to think it's awful, but if you have a aim or goal then you're going to do so much better as depending on how high you put the goal once you achieve it you're going to feel good about your work.
Start a blog, then everyone can read it without you knowing.
Blogging does sound like a good option.
Believe in me who believes in you. That was a joke, sorry. I don't belive in you.
You'll make a great father. No, really. Ok maybe not but im atleast trying to make you feel good. This thread sucks
Thread is full of failures. Find a good friend that appreciates what you do, but one who will give honest advice. Keep working on what you have and when they like it show it to another friend and get their first impression. If its not good, go back and work on it some more. Dont get discouraged by initial reactions. As long as you enjoy being creative, theyll be no problem.
Deal with it.
Are you sure that it is that you hate everything you make and not that you're afraid to get other people's opinions on it? I'll sometimes do both. >_> I'll sometimes not show people my work because I think they'll not like it, thus afraid of other people's opinion.
You're reclusive. Get over being self conscious and get a girlfriend.
This here, people, it fixes everything. When I got my first girlfriend my dead dad was resurrected, Hugh Hefner wrote me into his will and Jimi Hendrix held a private concert for me in the underworld. Then I won the lottery. Twice.
I have the same feeling, but every time someone finds it or I show someone after weeks of hiding it, they always say how great it is. My writing has actually won an award. But not like a big award or anything.
Do you hate your own thread? I do
Your avatar just went perfectly with that response
I have the same problem, extreme self-criticism seem to be a very common ailment.
Find some suck up friends and show them your stuff. It will boost your self confidence. I have this friend who fucking compliments everything everyone does. It gets to the point of being annoying. Good luck!
