How come villains always look more aweome than heroes?

A few (badass/awesome) "heroes" (the exceptions, to name a few):

Kratos was a bloodthirsty psychopath, and hardly a hero.

Also, read the OP, as mentioned, I meant GENERALLY:
IE: Majority wise. So a handful isn't really gonna cut it.

He's more like an anti-hero.
Also, I'm just naming a few "chaotic-good"/ anti-heroes for the sake of exceptions.
He's more like an anti-hero.
Throughout the entire game he just brutally slaughters people reguardless of who they are. He's about as much of a hero as leatherface.

Well, you can make him good or bad.
That kinda makes him chaotic neutral.

Atleast in nerdish. :awesome:

Bruce Wayne's (Edit: **Bruce Willis, retard) character in the first Die Hard movie was a straight up hero (not an anti-hero/bad boy) and was incredibly awesome, he's the only person I can think of that fits your standards. Although even he looks like a regular guy.
The media is trying to make kids evil so they can silently destroy the nation from the inside.

I'll have to agree with that, but then again, his nemisis was pretty badass too.
"Two tequilas and a blowjob."
I remember busting a gut at that.

Although listing him was pointless as you already acknowledged that there are exceptions, you wanted a reason for the trope that you listed.

Yeah, that, and maybe start abit of a discussion that didn't involve drugs, politics, sex, religion or all that contreversial stuff, just a small break on a light subject where people can let their guard down.
It's pleasant, you know.
What about captain planet? He's a "GOOD GUY" and looks badass...
We don't know that, since in either of the games he's shown slightest hints of a personality. His entire "personality" is built on the notions of fanboys.
Yes we do, because we're going by looks and what they do not personality. Gordon by far looks a lot more bad ass killing zombies in his HEV suit than Breen does giving speeches in his brown business suit.
Hitmen are badguys. No matter if they're protagonists or not.

Leon is a weird exception to this rule, by being both a stylish mother-fucker

and a milk drinking odd immigrant -

(having him talk adds to the oddness)
But at least the villain keeps with the rule -

Badass if you include "heart" as one of your epic powers.

As a good guy you are always bound to a strict set of morals. Now of course you always get the girl which is an added plus. but any hero's have there flaws, and it is a villain that exploits these flaws
Now as a villian, honestly, you just have more fun. You create the rules rather than live my any morals. You make the bad guy work for everything he does. You have your own set of goals and you don't let anything or anyone stand in your way. Which I think make any villian cool.
Being a badass requires breaking norms. If the antagonist does this, he's automatically a villain. If the protagonist does this, he's an antihero or a villain. You can't be a badass and play by the rules - you must do questionable stuff. Either the hero does this to achieve some higher goals or just doesn't give a fuck - both of which make him an antihero.
The only way you can have a truly good hero do badass stuff is if he's unaware of what he's doing and the implications and consequences it has. Which means that the writer is either horrible or a genius.
I think the main reason for this sort-of "rule" is that usually villains lose, which calls for making a new one, that's why script-writers always try to make a villain original. Heroes, howeever, pass through for many years and villains, which makes them look old and unoriginal. I don't believe people thought Batman sucked when the comic just came out, same goes for most of the others - they WERE cool long ago, now they're an old stereotype with nothing cool in them, while villains are constantly new and different. Another thing is that you can't add dramatical characters like Leon to this, because you can't really make a straight good/bad line for the real life.
I tend to like the bad guys more because they have the most interesting personalities and the most badass gear.
They are often much more memorable than the heroes.
Like in the Dark Knight movie, everyone fucking loved Heath Ledger as the Joker, because he was incredibly badass.
I beg to differ.
Ezio from assasins creed! He's cool looking
Not exactly good though is he?
The heroes have to have a look of humility to them, because in the heroes vs. villains world, pride or flare makes you evil.
[editline]12:43PM[/editline]
Rambo and Han Solo look pretty kick-ass though.
While heroes look cool, their villains usually look cooler.

I'm not sure what this image goes under. The Evil Cole is a dick but he's still the main character, the Hero.
And also, kinda
