All things are causally connected and nothing is supernatural. There is no such thing as free will. Humans live and die with no real say in the matter according to basic laws of physics and moral laws are entirely subjective. Also, the Emperor protects.
also lets say that you when you were a sperm didnt make it, but even if you didnt another sperm would have and grew up and because it has the same genes and environment it would look and act just like you, so would you consider the other you or not?
Technically it would be you, yet you wouldn't know you were a replica because of your viewpoint due to your relative perspective. Think about this. You could have an infinite amount of objects each in it's own dimension, which each dimension overlapping the other one. Each object is self aware and yet shares the same "space" as the rest of the infinite amount of objects in alternate dimensions, but has no way to interact with them. Each reality is relative to each object in it's own dimension. So each reality is the "real reality" based of the objects perspective (you), and yet all other realities are the "real reality" at the same time. Again, I'm not saying that you are having some crazy dream and everyone else around you is a figment of that dream. On the contrary, everyone in your "real reality" is real too.
Ok, so sometimes I'd be sitting in class with nothing to do. Besides the thoughts on the cute girls in my multiple classes (and as fate would have it, I sit next to them)
Just keep doing that, it's easier and far less pointless.
These are questions I find myself thinking:

Do we really exist? Yes
Are we just a pawn of some higher power or are we a part of some perverted computer game? No
How come I view the world through my eyes, not detached from my body (similar to a third-person game)? Because your sensory organs aren't floating behind your body.
Think about it. We could not exist. We could be controlled by some sort of God (think "the Sims"). We could be a part of some experiment on how animals can survive on its own. After all, we are animals, just a highly advanced type.
We also could just be little trains driving around in Humans and controlling them without knowing it. We could also be cans of Spaghetti-Os in mental institutions willing our fantasies to life. Wait, no we couldn't. That's stupid.
It's a strange thing. It bedazzles me to think about this but I will on this note:
It's not a strange thing, it's a human impulse to want the world to be far more mysterious than it is. But there's a fine line between entertaining flights of fantasy and delusion. The only people who can really walk it are the religious.
my thoughts are that we are here for some indiscernible reason; what that is, we don't know. Is it to go to colonize other planets? To be a significant in a vast land of nothingness?
Saying that we are here for an indiscernible reason is implying that there is an intelligent designer of sorts. Which could be gods, it could be aliens, or it could be hokey spawned from an uncivilized period of human history, designed out of fear of the unknown. But, the fact that we are capable of making mechanical tools far more complicated than ourselves and capable of doing much more than we ever could alone is significant. We are a statistical improbability throughout the universe. The bastard children of incalculably magnificent odds and the harsh conditions of the universe itself.
awful logic
No, just no.
Just don't think about it. You only live once, make this life count. Try to have as much fun as possible. Fuck many bitches, party with friends, go into a huge debt like everyone else and LIVE!!! Don't waste your time looking into the science and evolution bullshit on life. If evolution was true, how the fuck did we come from a rock?!
Well, you see. It was a dark night about seventy five thousand years ago. A stray magnet hurtling from neptune at 2c crashed into a pool of liquid lightning. This caused the magnet to level up and start attracting amoeba. The mass eventually formed into a ball of spaghetti. The spaghetti looked upon his birthplace, noticed a fowl smell, and flew off into the sun. And that's how evolution was born.
Again, I'm not saying that you are having some crazy dream and everyone else around you is a figment of that dream. On the contrary, everyone in your "real reality" is real too.
Effectively, everything you experience in dreams is as real as everything you experience in reality. They are real chemically induced hallucinations. The people you meet are understood through a series of chemically triggered senses. Their body is seen as a series of photons entering your eyes, being interpreted, and reconstructed in a way your brain can work with. Sound is just waves bouncing into your ears, being interpreted just like with your eyes, and again sent to your brain in a format it can use. Your 'reality' is entirely based on perception, but is driven by the physical universe and how every cell in your body reacts in it. It is doubtful that there is anything more than a complex series of electrical and chemical reactions to weave you into the universe, but it is only doubtful because the nature of the 'spirit' is entirely impossible to prove as it is explained to operate in a way where it can completely disregard physics. It may seem boring to be a liquidious flesh-sentient, but eventually people are going to learn to have to deal with it instead of turning their mind into a castle of false logic and fantasy. [editline]herp[/editline] Funfact: it took me enough time to write this that, coupled with the early stages of sleep deprivation, I forgot what thread I was in.
I'm an Epicurean atheist. I believe the purpose of life is to avoid suffering. The best way to enjoy life, is to avoid and prevent suffering. You should not only avoid physical suffering but mental suffering as well. To receive no harm, you must do no harm. You can not live a happy life when causing suffering to others, you will then suffer from guilt and the fear of consequences. You can not live without suffering, if you always suffer the fear of death. Nothing has been proven to exist after death, and it is therefor only logical to assume there is nothing after death. To die is most logically, to stop existing. To stop existing means that your consciousness will exist neither, you will therefor never experience death, and you will never feel any suffering from death. Therefor, death is nothing to be afraid of. I do not believe you can live a happy life in excess wealth. A life in excess wealth will detach you more from your loved ones, you will lose out on the simple things in life, and you will gain more love from sharing with the people around you. The best way to avoid suffering, is to live a life devoted sharing pleasure. It is not logical to believe in something that lack supporting evidence, or has countering evidence. When you live religiously, you live in fear of gods. You live in the belief of something you have no reason to believe in, and you limit yourself from advancing yourself as a person, and mankind as a whole. I love to see mankind advance, but it pains me to see people limiting how willing they are to change. [editline]11:33AM[/editline] I do not believe that laws that do not benefit the pleasure of mankind should exist. Laws that prevent people from enjoying pleasures that does not cause anyone any harm, is silly and wrong. If a law can not be justified by anything else than tradition or religion, it should not exist.
:golfclap: You guys have beaten my own silly logic. Carry on.
"Insert evolution debate here". :350: What came before doesn't matter, we are here, no questions asked.
"Insert evolution debate here". :350: What came before doesn't matter, we are here, no questions asked.
It's entirely possible that we'll never know how exactly the universe became. Scientists aren't exactly encouraged to create new universes.
Well I guess overheard something about it being like a atomic explosion throughout dark space.
Well I guess overheard something about it being like a atomic explosion throughout dark space.
It's like if twilight were a scifi novella.
God came all over the black substance, and that's how satan was born.
We are a bunch of carbon based sentient compounds that somehow became self aware through processes unknown and all we are, are the temporary custodians of the molecules which comprise us.
You play too much computer, when you think you're fictive and a character of a game or similar.
No he just doesn't understand how he works, it's fine he's just an idiot.
No he just doesn't understand how he works, it's fine he's just an idiot.
They're not mutually exclusive.
In this case they are intertwined, OP is an idiot due to how he perceives his perspective.
The dumb ratings you are receiving are from ignorant people.
In this case they are intertwined, OP is an idiot due to how he perceives his perspective.
No, OP is an idiot due to how we perceive his perspective. He's also an idiot because he plays too much video games, and because he thinks partaking in philosophical nonsense is a better waste of time than staring at girls.
The dumb ratings you are receiving are from ignorant people.
No they are from well educated people. Yes he exists, because if he didn't it would be impossible to ask that question. To ask the question "Do I exist" He must exist The matrix isn't real and there is no higher power, it's ridiculously illogical and it raises a metric fuck ton more questions than it answers. How come he views the world through a first person perspective and not third person? Well that's easy, that requires extra sensory perception, something humans do not have, he sees through his eyes because he sees through his eyes which are directly in front of his brain. Yeah, dumb ratings are from the ignorant right?
As an agnostic, I have many hypotheses on the subject. In one of the more non-conventional ones, We each have souls that contain only our conscience and personality, but not our memories, these souls are not in our bodies but in some other dimension. Our brains have electrical patterns that act as receivers of this undetectable signal constantly emitted by our souls, everywhere in the universe, which projects our personalities and consciousness onto our earthly bodies. Far fetched, I know, but it's fun to think about.

And if there was a signal sent it would be discoverable one way or another.

We all started with souls. Except for gingers.
The chances are infinite infinite is chaos Chaos can't be understood. Our existence won't ever be understood.
The supernatural was implied.
The super natural doesn't exist, it's fantasy proposed by idiots to explain things they don't understand, and until it follows scientific method and stands up scientifically it should never be taken seriously.

It is not mine. Don't be intolerant.

How come I view the world through my eyes, not detached from my body (similar to a third-person game)?

I've never even really thought about that. It does indeed seem as if my consciousness resided somewhere around my eyes. I suppose it could be linked to the fact that our eyes are the most prominent source of sensory input - though even then I wonder if a blind, or a blind & deaf person would place their consciousness somewhere else. The modern notion that all intelligence stems from the brain could also play some part. Heart and I think liver have also been important to emotions - and breath is associated with life and soul in pretty much every culture ever. When you say that something comes from the "bottom of your heart", it's obvious that you're feeling the emotion with your brain - but it really does feel as if it comes from the bottom of your heart. I think that culture could affect the placement of the feeling of being to some extent.
Yes, that is your opinion. It is not mine. Don't be intolerant.
What? Your opinion is based on shit you have pulled out of the air, it's not often I say this but your opinion is so retarded it boggles minds. You tried to pass it off as a scientific hypothesis so I tore it apart, it's new age bullshit if anything, on par with homoeopathy.
Chaos can't be understood.
And how did you reach this conclusion exactly?
God created himself out of nothing, then created deities to have people make their own choices.

It's not scientific at all. It was just one of the recent hypotheses I came up with recently. I never even said I believed it. This thread is about "thoughts" I gave one of my thoughts. It looks like you're just looking for a reason to argue against anything that isn't your own opinion, which would be fine if you didn't degenerate into calling the other person's thoughts "retarded" and actually expressed some tolerance.
