Oh how I wish this was my avatar.
I was tempted to claim it but that would be a dick move. I guess I can choose one of the others.
I think it would have been pretty cool if Amon reversed tarlok's blocked bending and they teamed up and tried to take over republic city. so 2 very good blood benders against the avatar.
Well, for the first, [sp]Asami's not a very vocal character. She keeps things bottled up inside her, doesn't say much. Her going all DRAMA DRAMA ANGST ANGST would have been too out-of-character.[/sp] For the second, [sp]yeah, Bolin does seem to be the fourth wheel on this love triangle. But remember, they've got a whole new season to finish the story. I'm sure he'll really come into his own.[/sp] For the third, [sp]the aircraft don't really seem too technologically advanced. We seem to be about 1920's technology, which would make that level of tech reasonable. They've already had gliders for centuries, even non-airbending ones. Attaching an engine to an existing vehicle isn't too difficult. If anything, I'd say the robots are more technologically advanced than is reasonable - we *still* don't have that tech ourselves![/sp] And for the fourth, [sp]maybe Lin *wants* to keep the scar. AFAIR, we don't actually know the backstory behind that, so it could actually be important to her that she keeps it (think of Zuko's scar in the original series).[/sp]
[sp]1. I didn't want a drama and angst fest from Asami, but I wanted her to reach a visible emotional height or at least a convincing reason for why she doesn't have one. There's only so much you can IMO hold in while fighting your father to the death without a backstory explaining how you can be this cold-blooded. Most she did was getting somewhat angry with Mako in the kitchen, and there she didn't even have a direct conflict she couldn't back out of. That scene also showed she doesn't completely control her emotions. 2. Maybe, but I still expected closure from a finale that to my knowledge was done without a second season in mind since that one was greenlit only afterwards. 3. We also had an electric fence and a motor boat just at the end. Maybe that tipped the balance in my thought of "Sato just invents whatever is convenient!". 4. That was more of a humorous remark by me. On "Amon the Stand Up Comedian" levels admittedly. I think Lin's scars are just part of her character design that are supposed to make her look tough and the writers didn't pay it attention beyond that.[/sp]
Just finished episode 11-12. Pretty awesome, actually, but i was kind of disappointed by the ending [sp]as in how Korra got her bending back just by talking to Aang, it would have been pretty cool if the plot changed into her trying to re-attach the bonds of her bending, so she'd go around the world learning earth, fire and waterbending all over again. But wow, that scene where Tarlokk and Amon are on the boat is actually pretty sad, how Tarlokk killed himself and Amon, it's not something you'd expect in a nickelodeon show.[/sp] Hoping the next season comes out soon.
[sp]How is Captain Boomi Tenzin's brother?[/sp]

Damn man. That last scene with [sp]Amon and Tarlok, got me good. Never expected something like that from Nickelodeon.[/sp] [sp]However, the lack of a cliffhanger was disappointing.[/sp] [editline]25th June 2012[/editline]
[sp]How is Captain Boomi Tenzin's brother?[/sp]
Aang's non-bending son.
I'm actually glad they didn't do a cliffhanger, because then it leads to even more speculating about whats going to happen in the next season since they give no clue as to what events from the first will follow on ( other than the last 2 minutes ofcourse )
I like that they're doing something different. When we first saw Korra, she could already bend three elements. They were establishing "Hey, she may be the Avatar but she's not Aang - we're not doing a 'learn all the elements' series again."
I thought it was only going to be a 12 episode mini series to start off with. If that was true, then the lack of a cliff hanger does make sense. What I don't really understand is how Amon takes bending away. [sp] How does he take bending away with blood bending? I understand how Aang could do it, but does it just mean Energy bending is closely related to Blood bending somehow? That's the bit that just confused me. [/sp]

It's not really explained.
I've been wondering, is there any scene (In Season 1 of course) like the scene where Iroh is putting up a memorial for he's son? Or just in general a pretty sad scene. It was pretty much one of the saddest scenes i have seen in a anime series (The "In honor of Mako" did the trick for me..) I mean yeah a water bender can alter glaciers, yet the shape of the ice looked like earth bending and after she bends the ice she moves the ocean below.
Pretty sure the snow and ice was on top of a rock cliff, and when she earthbent she pulled the rock out from below.
Permafrost
[sp]3. We also had an electric fence and a motor boat just at the end. Maybe that tipped the balance in my thought of "Sato just invents whatever is convenient!".[/sp]
[sp]The motorboat is still "putting an engine on a thing that already exists. And in any case, they had steam-powered boats as early as the Hundred Year War. Upgrading to internal combustion is just a logical progression, not really something unusual. The fence is also an incremental development over the taser... things... mustache-guy uses. Not only that, but there's no sign that they were actually invented by Sato. The boats don't even really have any connection to him - they could be CabbageCorp for all we know. They could easily have been invented by someone else (perhaps one of his employees?)[/sp]
Every time the Lieutenant says that line about the Council in 'And The Winner Is...' I can't help but giggle like a retard. Sometimes I have to resist calling him Lt. Hackett too
If anyone has a specific scene that they want as an avatar that's a few seconds long I can probably make it for you Or go ask in the avatar requests thread so ILY can do it

[editline]24th June 2012[/editline]
Personally I'd like to see the second season away from Republic City
There was an interview with Brian and Mike where they said that season 2 will have parts in republic city but there will be much more stuff going on outside of republic city as well. I think it was their WSJ interview.
Max size for blues is 9.8kb That file is over 300kb
bugger me
YAHHOOOOO Thanks broski. I'm still debating over whether I should rewatch the original series. When I finished it the first time (and when I finished Korra) I felt really sad, so I thought I might as well not do it, but since they are re airing korra with the creator commentary I'm going to have to do it again so I might as well rewatch the original as well. Now I just need to find a place to get them in good quality.

I watched ATLA for the first time partway through LoK and definitely felt it added to the experience. When I finished "Sozin's Comet: Avatar Aang" I had to watch "Welcome to Republic City" again. Hearing Aang's son - now an older man - talking about how his father and friends saved the world is very poignant. Seeing Katara - now Gran-Gran herself - sending the young Avatar off on a journey of destiny like the one she undertook as a young girl is really heavy. You miss the characters, but you're happy to see new ones. It's great. [editline]24th June 2012[/editline]
Now I just need to find a place to get them in good quality.
There are season DVDs for 20-30 USD each. Also IIRC all the episodes are on Netflix.
I've been rewatching TLA here. http://www.theavatarportal.org Quality's OK, but it's a place to watch them.
