This year I'm living with two roommates, and just my luck, both are ATLA fans. Fuck yeah.
Who isn't a ATLA fan!
So, season 2 when?
TBA
Who isn't a ATLA fan!
assholes
one thing i noticed immediately is how the followed the same pattern in character creation. there is the main character, a serious friend, a goofy friend, a big creature and a tiny creature. (not saying its the same, its very different and still fun, but kind of the same pattern is what i mean). oh, also, one old master that is wise but ridiculized at times, like iroh or tenzin.

I just finished watching Legend of Korra, and all I can think of is that the Equalists actually had a ton of valid concerns. Of course they went way overboard into the extremist territory, but I can totally see how the average non-bender could get sucked in. They're not represented by the council, the benders of the city have permanent access to concealable, potentially lethal magic powers, and the only form of defense for non-benders, Chi Blocking, is heavily frowned upon, if not outlawed outright. I'd be pissed too, and after [sp]Tarrlock and the other council members voted to start the curfew[/sp] I can totally see myself joining them.
I hope in the next to Seasons of LoK, the characters get more fleshed out and actually give them a bit more depth. [sp]I mean BoLin getting over Korra so fast and Asami not caring the Avatar just stole her boyfriend. We gotta remember these are still teenagers and have raging hormones, I think a bit more drama is needed between them[/sp]
The last episode of LOK felt like the whole series just ended. [sp]It would have been better if Korra just stay as an Airbender and have to re-learn all three elements.[/sp]

I just started watching the ATLA again. The animation in the first episode is so... stiff compared to later episodes.
Thank you
[sp]It would have been better if Korra just stay as an Airbender and have to re-learn all three elements.[/sp]
I entirely disagree for several reasons. 1. With her bending taken away, it would be impossible to relearn how to bend the elements. Say Asami spent the next ten years learning all the bending styles and motions - she still wouldn't be able to bend, because she simply can't. When a bender is chi-blocked (in either show) the first thing they do it try to bend - they do the motion, but no elemental motion is achieved. Furthermore, there's nothing to relearn. As a very small child, she knew how to bend three elements. She spent the next thirteen years training with the best to become the best. When Amon took her bending away, she didn't forget those lessons and motions. Also there was no indication that anyone could relearn bending. 2. This idea overlooks Korra's personality and character. She defined herself entirely as being a good bender. She hated airbending because it seemed impossible for her. In her nightmare about Amon, he said "After I take your bending away, you will be nothing." Without her bending, she saw herself as a failure - as a person and as an Avatar. 3. Although I liked Avatar: The Last Airbender, any sort of training-based season would feel like a rehash. Remember, Korra was trained by the masters coming to her. Even if she traveled the nations to find the masters, it would lack the urgency found in A:TLA. [editline]1st October 2012[/editline]
I just started watching the ATLA again. Only really just decided to start watching Legend of Aang. I'd seen random episode on TV loads and it always looked good but I never bothered. So now I've been marathoning it, watched all of season 1 and 2 in a day barely and just started on season 3. Then I get to watching Legend of Korra!
Why is the Avatar the Last Airbender called The Legend of Aang in the UK?
I don't know the official reason, but if I had to guess it's because bender is slang for a homosexual in the UK. Edit: Something I never really understood in this show is why Azula sometimes uses Lightning, but sometimes uses blue fire. It seems like no one else in the entire show uses blue fire apart from her even though I assume she isn't doing like the original dragon firebending. Anyway that was great. Just finished marathoning Avatar Legend of Aang. It was like a 2 day long movie and very good! All the characters actually developed and had a sense of purpose, rather than other cartoons where something happens and then the next episode everything is back to normal. Now to have a look at Legend of Korra

The reasoning for this can be found in the episode the deserter, where aang meets that fire general who deserted the fire nation army and tried to teach aang firebending. He explains that a lot of firebenders use their anger to make their flames fiercer, but they lose control. Basing this information, we see how much hate and evil Azula has, but we also see how cold and calculating she is as well. This combination lets her create very intense, controlled flames and is pretty much the transitional fire that separates red fire from lightning.

I mean, Iroh and Ozai can't shoot blue fire but they shoot plenty of lightning. But you're right about pretty much everything else.

Maybe they don't shoot blue fire because the showpeople wanted blue fire to be exclusively associated with Azula for what it shows about her character.
I figured after Aang and Zuko learnt fire bending from the dragons they'd start shooting multicoloured fire all over the place.
It be interesting to see what next season will bring on the table [sp]Since the main villains are all dead might have to go with that civil unrest anti bender thing[/sp]
All I know about the next season is from wikipedia. It's going to be the book of spirit and it's set in Republic City and outside of it too. And it's not technically the next season, it's just the second half of the first season.
Finished looking to the first book, Air, of the Legend of Korra. Don't know what to say. I am a little disappointed. It was all so hasty. I love criminal masterminds who are deviated and are doing bad but they believe they're doing good, but Amon.. ugh, the whole thing ended up too fast, and it lacked ..insight. Asami Sato is this series fav charachter of mine. I hope she gets developed more. at a point all she did was a disappointed face everytime Mako seemed to care about Korra. Not to mention that lovestory sucked big time. Mako is an asshole, I like his brother more. Funniest moments are the ones with Tenzin. Unfunniest are his son Meelo spoofs. Fartbending? uh.. ok. Charachters I'd love too see again.. Adult Aang, Koh the face stealer. (Spirit book ahoy) To sum up: if the whole Amon arc spawned atleast 2 chapters it would have been way better.

At the end I was expecting Amon to get away and for him to be a recurring villain for at least the next book, while Korra perhaps relearned the other elements. But it all kind of just got wrapped up. I know each book is supposed to be it's own story but I was really expecting there to be more to carry over into the next book.
There wasn't going to be another book. Ending a show intended to run for one season without wrapping everything up properly is a bad idea. And I think it was too far into post-production for them to go back and rewrite/animate the relevant episodes.
Then they shouldn't have crammed two arcs into, what, a 12 episode season?
Then they shouldn't have crammed two arcs into, what, a 12 episode season?
Except they had no idea they were allowed to do a season 2 until halfway through when Nickelodeon saw how popular LoK was. Now they're allowed to do more than just a second season.
And personally, I couldn't handle two seasons of Amon. He's too scary.
Only thing creepy about Amon was that the concept of taking someone's bending away was like raping someone.
