They need to show two episodes a week.
But then we'd run out of episodes faster
The recap part in the beginning of the episode uses the radio announcer and an old-film style filter.
Neat
So if Earthbenders can learn metal bending, Firebenders can learn lightning bending, and Waterbenders can learn blood bending, will we learn if Airebenders can learn something else?

Maybe they can learn Energy bending?
Maybe they can learn Energy bending?
That's kind of an Avatar trait.
Although people of old could use it. Still, would be a bit unfair.
The reason there's not an extra to Air bending would be because there aren't many air benders around. Loads of Fire, Water and Earth benders to experiment and learn different kinds of bending related to their origin. Air benders don't quite have that advantage. Atleast, that's my take on it.

Water benders can also bend plants, as seen by the swamp people. And Toph could bend sand and mud. I imagine getting enough of your element mixed in could lead to some unexpected techniques.

Yeah, in Korra's time there are only 4 air benders, and 3 of them are children.
I dont think Amon was energy bending, the triad leader was lightning bending then Amon grabbed his arm and was directing it around until he reduced his bending to nothing.
I was a little pissed how my dvr didnt record like the last few seconds of the episode. Did anything happen after she told Tenzin?

"No bender is safe"

ok thanks. I thought i had missed out on a scene showing a key problem aimed at next weeks episode.
Is there an online version of the 3rd episode? I missed it. Or when will it re-air?
While hearing Amon's origin story speech I started to think he could be that earth kingdom kid who Zuko gives a dagger to in that one episode where it is all about him going off on his own. Then it started talking about his family getting killed and that theory went out of the window.

heh that wouldve been pretty cool.

Well, the fire nation took Ba Sing Se, so its entirely possible that they took hold of outlying towns and villages as well.
However, I doubt Amon is ~78 years old
Maybe it's all the Mobile Suit Gundam I've watched but does anyone get the feeling that Amon might sort of be an homage to Char Aznable?
with the lack of cable, I'm happy to have this http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/legend-of-korra-103-the-revelation-full-episode.html
My only distaste is the alternate intro, but it's decent enough to guide the audience, (good if they miss an episode).

It was like that with the original one too. The original intro was very long, but they shortened it so we can get to the good stuff.
This one's original was more for the fans; the new one is for newcomers.
I think I know how Amon takes away bending.
Remember how Tai-lee tried to chi-poke Sokka in the head when they first met?
Maybe he knows specific pressure points along the head and neck that permanently block chi flow.
I think Amon is either only blocking their chi at thier crown based upon the seven levels which at one point such a block prevented Aang to go into his avatar state or Amon is really a spirit that took over Aang's body.
Maybe Amon has some sort of connection to that spirit that steals faces. Just throwing it out there since he doesn't have a face either

Today's episode was pretty damned great.
I think Amon is lying- like, he didn't really steal his face.
But it doesn't look like energy-bending. There's no light show, and the hand isn't on the same place. It's probably chi blocking.

I wouldn't be surprised. Bumi was over 100 years old and he was still very capable. Iroh was pretty old too, age doesn't seem to matter much.
"welcome to republic city" is the first episode right?
I love how bending is being used for more practical purposes.
Lightning bending used to be the shit in the old days but now any firebender can do it and use it in a power plant.
Sweet, the Full episodes of Korra are not US only (at least I can watch them here in Canada) on the Nick.com, so I can just watch them there.

[sp]Ugh who voiced the equalist who used those electric rods near the end of the episode, he sounded so familiar.[/sp]
[editline]22nd April 2012[/editline]
Lance Henriksen, that is who voiced him. Admiral Hackett from Mass Effect
the whole "there is no more use for benders" thing is retarded. Look at Mako's job, i didnt even think to use lightning bending for welding stuff. Imagine all of the other uses, like im sure hospitals are run mostly by waterbending healers.

I thought that guy sounded familiar.
so I watched the first three episodes, pretty good, although Meelo is fucking annoying
[sp] Amon's parents died by a fire bender and so did Mako's? I wonder who this fire bender is, this "fire bender" is probably going to be in some show later on[/sp]
edit:
some things about amon's name
Like several other characters, Amon was revealed on July 23, 2011 at San Diego Comic-Con.
■ The name Amon is very similar to Amun (also known as Amun-Ra), the King of Gods in Egyptian mythology. The spelling "Amon" is also used in some transliterations. Amon is an Egyptian name meaning "hidden", which may refer to his covered face.
■ The Chinese transliteration for Amon's name, 阿蒙 (pinyin: āméng) can have a few meanings, but the most appropriate is "to cover".
■ Amon is the seventh evil spirit listed in "Ars Goetia" in The Lesser Key of Solomon. He is said to be a Marquis of Hell.
■ Amon is also the first name of Amon Goeth, the notorious Nazi officer who was found guilty for murdering tens of thousands of people. He was also the primary antagonist in Schindler's List.
■ Amon sounds very similar to Anon - short for Anonymous, an internet movement or concept of anonymous activists who protest political injustice. They often use a Guy Fawkes mask as a symbol for the movement and as a disguise, which is similar to the mask Amon uses.
■ Amon has the Chinese ideogram for "peace" on his chest. The same ideogram also means "fair" and "equal", matching the Equalists' name.
■ Amon is the name of the second deadliest pressure point in the human body. Located on the back of the neck, a precise strike can be fatal.
■ The red circle on Amon's mask is similar to that of the large red disk featured on the flag of Japan, which represents the dawn since Japanese considered Japan to be the land of the rising sun. It also marks the spot Amon touches on a person to remove their bending.
■ Amon's outfit bears a resemblance to Dr. Doom, a villain from Marvel comics.
■ Amon lost his father to a firebender, much like Mako and Bolin lost their parents to one.
The pressure point one interests me the most, "Second deadliest pressure point" and he can take bending away?

nvm im wrong
