Jet was killed in the original series but it wasn't really clear.
I've got a really bad feeling they'll kill Tenzin because that would really screw up Korras progression as an avatar. Then the kids will have to teach her or she is somehow able to contact Aang to teach her.

Was Jet killed? I don't remember that...I know they tailed Zuko and Iroh for a bit, but I thought they just kind of...disappeared.
Also I doubt they'll kill Tenzin...Aang's the only real one who could teach her, and we know they want to avoid bringing TLA into this series as much as possible.

Did you miss the episodes in Ba Sing Sae? There's the whole arc where Jet arrives and gets hypnotized and in the end it was implied he died. They joke about it in "Ember Island Players" and they even state he died in the "Avatar Extras".

Haven't watched them in a while. :< Usually I just watch the ones that are story heavy and/or toph heavy.
one thing that's always bothered me about toph and earthbenders in general...why not just take everyone underground and like dig a tunnel to wherever you're going? seems a lot faster and safer, especially in dangerous territory with someone like toph who can see what's going on in every direction at once.
Well Ba Sing Se is pretty story heavy.
There's this huge argument on /tv/ about who is better looking, Korra or Katara. Some of the comments are hilarious. Stuff like:

Me and my sis were talking about episode 5 and we kinda figured that Bolin wont have a set girlfriend at this point. How ever it is much more likely that he will mingle with several women through out the series.

Sokka/Toph is a TERRIBLE idea. Absolutely terrible. It goes against the general nickelodeon story relationships, not to mention general fiction relationships.
So's Suki/Zuko though, so who knows what these authors will do. Katara/Zuko makes more sense than Suki/Zuko.
Although come to think of it, katara/zuko is probably the most likely combination I can think of.

It's been stated Katara/Aang can't be changed for ,well, obvious reasons. And Sokka/Ty Lee doesn't really make sense to me. Ty Lee just flirts with anything that walks because, like she said herself, she's an attention whore.

And Sokka/Toph doesn't work because it goes against the general Nick theme, like I said. Generally speaking, most shows tend to prefer relationships to have a semi-serious character with the occasional funny moment paired with the funnier, comic relief-esque character that can be serious when necessary. Toph and Sokka both fill the latter role, so it wouldn't work.
For example, Korra/Bolin just won't work. Ever. I guarantee that that relationship will not happen, it goes against Nick's theme.
I'm positive there's a name for this phenomenon, and it's very likely listed somewhere on TVTropes.
I always liked the idea of Toph/Sokka, from the second season.
