If I was fighting Tenzin and saw him riding the wind like a scooter towards me, I'd shit my pants and haul ass out of there.
I would probably just give up on the spot if I saw him do that, just fall over dead. I'm positive the motherfucker can fly, but chooses not to.
That doesn't make any sense. The point of the Avatar is that they can master all 4 elements. A non-bender wouldn't fit into that.
Then who's the weird swordsman next to Roku?

Voice in the Night shows that he can fly. Albeit with one of Aang's glider sticks.
When I first saw it I thought he was just twirling it above his head like a helicopter.
Okay, I wasn't sure that Lin would be as cool as Toph. But she's basically Toph already, albeit older and more...stable.
[editline]20th May 2012[/editline]
Edit: maybe not MORE stable
[editline]20th May 2012[/editline]
Oh god I need more episodes
Then who's the weird swordsman next to Roku?
I don't know. The avatar before Roku is Kyoshi, that guy is some random avatar.
When Lin slides back the metal on her foot to feel the ground I nerdgasm'd. That was so cool.
I still can't wait for some out of control Avatar action.
I want to see Tenzin's brothers and sister. They seem like they would be pretty awesome.

When were Aang's other 2 kids revealed? I don't remember them in any episode.
Also, awesome Aang named one of his Kids after Bumi, win.
[editline]20th May 2012[/editline]
I want to see Sokka's decedents.
Then who's the weird swordsman next to Roku?
That statue was a placeholder before they had they had lined Avatar Kyoshi before Avatar Roku. That picture was from the third episode in the series, and at a time when they didn't think the show will be all that big nor very cautious about details.
Then who's the weird swordsman next to Roku?
Bryke said that at that point in the series they were just gonna have some dude be the most recent Earthbending avatar, but then everyone loved Kiyoshi so they went with her instead. She was supposed to be like a few cycles back but then WHOOPS WE MADE HER TOO AWESOME.

Son of a bitch late. :v:
What do you guys think will cause Korra to enter the Avatar State for the first time?
Also its been like 8 episodes and she hasn't airbended yet. Didn't Aang move a little bit of water with Katara in the first few episodes?

He entered the avatar state and water bends in the second part of the first episode.

I meant outside of the avatar state. I thought Katara showed Aang how to mimic that ocean's waves' movements and he could push and pull some water.
Maybe its an unfair comparison since Aang took a while to learn Earthbending. Anyone remember how many episodes that took?

Pretty sure it was within 2 or 3 of him struggling.

They kinda explained why it was taking Korra so long and Aang so long in like the 1st or 2nd episode of The Legend of Korra.
Was browsing /co/ and I saw this. Holy Shit.

Let me explain to you why that's wrong:

Because of the spiral layout of the statues, the Avatar before Roku is to his right and slightly in front of him.

However, we can see that the swordsman is clearly behind Roku, therefore an Avatar Cycle or two before him.
[sp]or maybe it was a production goof, or they hadn't yet planned out the avatars[/sp]
When were Aang's other 2 kids revealed? I don't remember them in any episode.
In episode one, Katara mentioned how Kya and Bumi were as children in response to Pema's question about Tenzin. They haven't physically appeared in the series yet; this is a scan from a guide the production team uses.

They meet Toph in episode 26 "The Blind Bandit". Episode 27 "Zuko Alone" focuses solely on Zuko (natch), so we don't see the gaang. Episode 28 "The Chase" hints that he's been working on earthbending, but mainly focuses on the group's struggles amongst themselves. Episode 29 "Bitter Work" is where Aang does most of his training. After that, it's the desert and Ba Sing Se, so it's implied that he knows how to earthbend after 29.

its also a continuity error, the statue behind roku is facing toward us (second photo) while in the first photo we see the avatars looking outward from the spiral. If anything those two statues behind should have their backs to us.
What do you guys think will cause Korra to enter the Avatar State for the first time?
She probably won't be able to until she takes the spirituality of the Avatar seriously.

Who thought an inward spiral was a good idea? What happens when they get to the middle? Is this going to be the Mayan calendar debacle of the series?

The statues just get smaller.

Just saw episode 7; predictable as shit but tons of fun. I actually started punching the air mouthing 'fuck yeah!' when Asami essentially gave her dad the finger and kicked both his and the Lieutenant's collective asses.

I'd just like to mention how impressive it is they gave this guy a continuity nod in the latest episode. Really rarely seen by me to set up a completely unlikable smug fucker like this guy, then giving him the payback the audience will improve on, then showing his misery and making the audience feel bad again. Well, part of the audience anyway.
Didn't even need a big scene or dialogue, fully applied "show, don't tell" and just changed his design, posture and body language and it tells the whole story. Impressed me.

I think he'll show up later in an attack against Amon and be killed or kept prisoner.
Or in a more dramatic twist, Amon offers his bending back in exchange for help/info, which I doubt.
He deserved to get his bending taken away.
He deserved to get his bending taken away.
I thought that too, when he was cheating and being a general dick. But the moment you see him in episode 7, you just go "holy shit this is bad i feel sorry for this guy". He's a dick, yeah, but taking someone's bending away is like taking... something really important (can't find a good comparison).
but when you abuse your ability like he did, its almost like he deserved to lose the right to use it. The firelord got his shit taken away for abusing it, sure its more extreme, but thats what im getting at, you abuse it you lose it.
