A theory I read is basically "Amon is Amon". We didn't see Ozai's face for the entire first (and most of the second) season, but when we did it was pretty normal - no scarring, disfigurement, or anything like that. The reason his face was hidden was more because of his character - an imposing, terrifying figure to both Zuko and the gaang - and not because his face held the secret to his identity. In a similar way, Amon's mask makes him guarded, secretive, and mysterious, but doesn't hide a previous character underneath it.

I don't think she will quite go into the Avatar state, but most likely commune with Aang and figure out more on [sp]Tarlok (or more likely Tarlok's father)[/sp] and Aang's history and bring sense to the visions. As for [sp]Tarlok[/sp] being Amon, I'm not sure how that conclusion could be drawn seeing as [sp]he's taking drastic measures against non-benders through fear of Amon and his allies rising up and the fact that he's a water/blood bender[/sp].
